Just in case railing remains required.

Actually why don't they move voting day to the Saturday then the schools can have a deep clean on Sunday before the kids are back in.

LookAChicken · 29/03/2021 13:36

That would be thinking outside the box.

Mistressofmany · 29/03/2021 14:43

It won't be relevant for contact tracing. If you are in the person's presence at less than 2m for over 15 mins - I don't think it would count at all if you sat at the same desk as someone who had Covid, the next day. If you think about how often a secondary classroom is used by different pupils or staff.

Lockdownbear · 29/03/2021 14:45

I thought the desks were getting cleaned between classes / sprayed by the kids?

Haudyourwheesht · 29/03/2021 15:11

When I first started teaching, we used to have the day off on polling day. I only benefitted from it once before they made it an inservice day. I'd much rather have the kids in than an inservice day.

Mistressofmany · 29/03/2021 15:32

Well yes. I assume they'd be cleaned after the election too. Either way you wouldn't be considered a close contact by using the same room after a positive case, they'd need to be in there with you.

DeepfriedPizza · 29/03/2021 15:52

DD's school is a polling station. A group was set up and asked the council to move it to the church hall down the road but were told that they couldn't move it as everyone knows where the school is. Even though the church hall is in a cathedral, the only cathedral for miles around. Same church hall is used as a blood donor centre so can handle the capacity of voters as it is massive.

UnderHisAye · 29/03/2021 16:28

Our school is being used for the first time ever; I assumed it was to do with having more space to facilitate the flow of people.

Yeah they are. And sprayed by some professional contraption daily as well.

I really don't think that one day off school will make a huge difference tbh. Pain in the arse for parents trying to get childcare though.

Lockdownbear · 29/03/2021 16:39

I bet the real reason they don't want to use churches, chapels or other religious buildings is because of the numptes who'd moan "I'm not going in there!"

Mistressofmany · 29/03/2021 17:11

I don't know how they decide. I voted for years in a church hall, after moving I now vote in a community centre. My dc's primaries have never had to shut for this.

frasersmummy · 29/03/2021 17:14

I have just looked at the current figures for the first time in about a week and I am wondering what exactly the scottish govt are waiting to happen before they lift the lockdown

Our hospital numbers are falling drastically, there are only 22 people in icu with covid in the whole country.

We have vaccinted nearly half the adult population, There is no reason for the restrictions to be as harsh as they are.

I think we are being far too cautious .. we should be getting back to eating out with family, going to the cinema with friends now or am I missing something

WouldBeGood · 29/03/2021 17:16

@frasersmummy I’m in agreement.

This is wholly disproportionate now.

It’s making me despondent.

Why is BBC 1 Scotland not showing the covid briefing? It's some garden show on instead. I found the briefing on BBC News channel.

littlbrowndog · 29/03/2021 17:33

I agree. Why we still locked up.

English people seem to be out and about

Lockdownbear · 29/03/2021 17:38

Given Scotland has had longer lockdowns than England why have we got the highest covid rate?

Something just isn't working. I'm scunnered with lockdown.

Especially since all the politicians are allowed out and about cross council areas for electioneering. I know I raged about this the other day, but I’m still grumpy that even when the legislation lifts on the 2nd we’re going to still be told to stay in our council cages.

Lower vitamin D levels, anyone?

Several reasons one being lock down fatique - the promise of a very big carrot in England end of June is making people limit contacts.

But also its circulating in places which are impossible to shut such as hospitals and the govt know this.
Ours came from nursery (mainly key workers) not anyone breaking any lock down rules!

I just wish they would jab as quickly as possible! I know I'm unlucky to end up with a moderate case giving my age but it is a very strange illness and I'm having good hours and very bad hours. The bad hours are quite scary still clinging on at home and avoiding being in the hospital numbers just but had 2 more assessments by video Dr's!

UnderHisAye · 29/03/2021 18:36

I've been worrying about you @Scottishskifun hope you can hang in there at home Thanks

anon444877 · 29/03/2021 18:43

Sorry to hear you're unwell scottishski. Can't believe it's still 7 more weeks until we are officially allowed to risk having a person we don't live with round.

WouldBeGood · 29/03/2021 18:56

@Scottishskifun fingers crossed it eases soon. Plenty rest and fluids and drugs!

OP posts:
anon444877 · 29/03/2021 19:02

It is. And oh look, Easter holidays looking trapped in our houses and flats. I've booked the younger one into holiday club because at least she'll be able to socialise inside with some friends.

I hear there are bbq temps forecast for the SE this week, much good that is to us!

anon444877 · 29/03/2021 19:03

Sorry clearly just came on to be the Easter grinch wouldbegood.
