Really nobody is telling you what to do or think

So I keep hearing but then I'm also told what I should and shouldn't feel guilty about, for instance, so that's a bit puzzling.

GreenlandTheMovie · 22/03/2021 21:26

@snowcoveredcampsies

Really nobody is telling you what to do or think. As ever, we're just here in the minority disagreeing with you and offering an alternative view. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think some folk are maybe just very upset that NS has been exonerated and Indyref2 is in the footing. Recent poll has independence just nudging it as well. I'm feeling pretty good for a Monday. Not going to lie. Grin

Don't you think that sort of attitude (slightly condescending, smug) is driving people away from Scotland?

Are you trying to replace us all with a more compliant population?

Or shall we just not get any of the better paid jobs in an independent Scotland? Party membership required, eh?

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 21:28

No jobs without a Higher Nationalist Certificate from SNP College

StarryEyeSurprise · 22/03/2021 21:29
@StarryEyeSurprise I have no love of the Toryes either, and I’m really bored of any dislike of the SNP and their doings being put down to pro Tory feeling, it’s possible to dislike all corrupt parties, and different policies.
But my comment was in regards to the Tories and several posters kicked off about it and resorted to name calling. 🤷

snowcoveredcampsies · 22/03/2021 21:29

@MaxNormal how can I, or any other poster, possibly tell you what to feel guilty about. Am I in control of your feelings? I can tell you that I would feel guilty. I can say that I find your actions selfish but absolutely none of that has any power over you at all.

A random stranger online cannot control you or your thoughts and feelings. You can think, do, feel and say exactly what you like.

snowcoveredcampsies · 22/03/2021 21:31

*Don't you think that sort of attitude (slightly condescending, smug) is driving people away from Scotland?

I'm feeling pretty smug today tbh. Not even sorry about it. I'm delighted.

I don't have that kind of power. It baffles me that you think I would.

I don't know what your third point means.

MaxNormal · 22/03/2021 21:32

@snowcoveredcampsies yes I know which is why I found it so odd. I know that the SNP are quite fond of a bit of nanny stateism but telling people what to think seems a bridge to far.
Mind you there's the Hate Crime Bill.

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 22/03/2021 21:32

I feel I'm reading a different thread.id not noticed Tory supporters kicking off😅 How bizarre.

Scottishskifun · 22/03/2021 21:33

I really don't understand the whole if you don't like the SNP it means you love the Tories!

This whole thing to me shows SNP are exactly the same as all other political scandals higher ground is lost.
I also think it's frankly immoral to spend millions potentially billions on a god damn vote when families are going hungry and their is mass unemployment with over 200 applications for a single post at the moment!

My work advertised a job we had nearly 300 applications!

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 22/03/2021 21:33

300! That's desperate.

snowcoveredcampsies · 22/03/2021 21:34

@MaxNormal I'm sorry but I'm not following. Nobody can make you feel guilt if you feel none. That's fair enough. People are entitled to think you should feel guilty but that's where it ends. I still don't see what point you're making about control. It's not control, it's a difference of opinion. Nobody is telling you what to do think or feel.

MaxNormal · 22/03/2021 21:35

@snowcoveredcampsies its maybe just how you come across then. Perhaps you don't mean to.

UnderHisAye · 22/03/2021 21:36

Honestly, cybernats. 😠

I'd like to point out that not once have I seen a pro-Indy poster on here talk shit about Scotsnet posters in childish generalisations, the way we are very often referred to.

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 22/03/2021 21:36

Serious question to anyone interested in party politics: Is the leader of the opposition not Anas Sarwar? In fact Is there such a role in the Scottish parliament?

Scottishskifun · 22/03/2021 21:36

Yep it was an admin position it's a proper application form as well not a chuck your CV in job!
To me its just one demonstration of just how bad a shape the economy is in and that's before the furlough scheme ends! Sad It's going to get a whole lot worse!

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 22/03/2021 21:40

I have read generalisations about "Scotsnet posters " as if the snp supporters are not themselves Mumsnet/ Scotsnet posters.

In fact your post UnderHisAye does just that which is in and if itself a bit odd.

snowcoveredcampsies · 22/03/2021 21:40

@MaxNormal Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they're telling you what to think. It just means they don't agree.

Scottishskifun · 22/03/2021 21:41

@UnderHisAye I dunno I've often been accused of loving the Tories because I don't agree with a referendum which to me is an insult. It's pained me when I have agreed with Tories and I state it quite clearly. It rarely happens but occasionally RD comes up with questions I want to know the answer to or I do say that the UK govt has played a blinder with vaccine development and procurement.

MaxNormal · 22/03/2021 21:43

@snowcoveredcampsies you're kind of telling me what to think about what you're saying now.

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 21:44

This is what I was called

The Tierany of Tiers
WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 21:45

Before people get too righteous

MaxNormal · 22/03/2021 21:46

@WouldBeGood bloody hell that's rude!

snowcoveredcampsies · 22/03/2021 21:47

@MaxNormal Okay doke. This is getting a bit too inception for me. I thought I was telling you my opinion. I must be far more powerful than I thought. I'll be bending spoons with my mind before breakfast 💆🏻‍♀️

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 21:47

It sprang to mind when lecturing started

Cismyfatarse · 22/03/2021 21:48

The Leader of the Opposition is Ruth Davidson as the Conservatives are currently the 2nd largest party in Holyrood.

And today is a bad day for honesty and decency. She must be holed below the water line but it might take a bit longer for the good ship Nicola to sink.
