I don't know what the key differences are in the two systems which mean that we can't book in Scotland but I've found it frustrating to get information on how things are moving - the obvious online info seems just the same as it was weeks ago i.e. wait for a call, don't call your GP or a vaccine centre and the main govt sites don't seem to have regular updates. I'd like to know how many vaccines are being given per day in all the various Scottish areas and which groups each has reached if anyone knows where that information is located online.

The queue calculator for Scotland says the same for me as it did about 5 weeks back and the estimation is longer than it was at first. I should be in the 55-59 group (8) with age only eligibility and apparently not due to get a first jag until the last week in April or first week in May.

I'm probably extra frustrated because I have friends and relatives in England who are all booking themselves in. In that circle, five people already have had jags in group 8 (age only eligibility). The youngest person I know in Scotland who has had the jag is 65 and has mild asthma.

I’m frustrated too as my ‘lived experience’ is that all my family in England aged 40 and older (no health issues not key workers) have had vaccines whilst only elderly parents here in Scotland... and they were quite ‘late’..... so whilst I’m delighted that everyone that has been vaccinated is safer, it’s just upsetting and stressful to constantly hear how marvelously well vaccine rollout is going, when my experience doesn’t match the picture painted :(

Thank you Bumply that is a really useful site!

I see my board hasn't done many people in my age group at all - profile suggests they are still on group 6.

I know same experience here, 50 year old sister (no conditions) has had it in England, and shouldn't we be faster here as our nhs is better funded I thought? But we have to be a bit grateful we aren't at the EU pace or the the other places around the world where the vaccine roll out is much slower.

I'm in England and have received today an invitation to book my vaccination. As has husband. Vaccination centre l've been offered is over an hour's drive away. However, there is also a vaccination centre in the town we are living in, so we'll probably keep trying to book in on the local one, although local Covid FB page has a lot of posts saying that it can take a lot of time to manage this. Can't see any way that we can book in at the same time so would be easier if we waited for local bookings. (Unless, over the next few days we just can't get booked in) l'm 59. I think we're all moving closer to vaccination, wherever we are, but there will always be folk we know who got there before us. Smile

My friend turned up last week for hers where they knew she's had a severe allergy but only had Pfizer. Unfortunately it's now put her as having had her first dose.

Redglitter · 06/03/2021 18:45

In my area the over 65s have been done and they're currently doing people with underlying health issues. I'm getting mine next week

One charmer or our local FB is furious that she's 64 and not had her appt. By her own admission she's fit & healthy but thinks they should be given in strict age order. Carers & people with health issues etc should wait their turn 🙄

OldRailer · 06/03/2021 18:55

Thanks for the link Bumply.

It explains somewhat as out health board has low rates. (Which I'd heard on the grapevine.)

helpfulperson · 06/03/2021 19:06

I think in scotland geography is an issue. A number of areas now have touring vaccine buses and will do whole populations around the same time.

From monday we will be getting more detailed info on the vaccine programme progress in various groups and areas.

OldRailer · 06/03/2021 20:06

Geographical reasons are understandable but don't explain Lothian being bottom of % first vaccination.

They opened more venues this week, so wondering if that will show. I had mine at one of the new venues.
OldRailer · 06/03/2021 20:21

Actually I just thought it's perhaps the age profile is skewed towards younger as Edinburgh and surrounding areas will attract in working age people.

Anyway it sounds like it's getting there. X

I had mine last week at EICC and the place was nearly empty. They had space for loads more people. Was this a vaccine supply issue? My sister got her appointment for today at Ingleton and got a phone call this morning asking her to go early as they weren't busy. My dd is to go for hers next week. A different venue to me but she lives in the same house and has same GP. I don't know how they organise these things

TuesdayinSeptember · 06/03/2021 21:41

All my friends in England in their 50s are now booking their appointments. One of my DC (England) who has just become CV was contacted within 2 days of going on the CV list and has booked for next week. I've heard nothing at all...

ssd · 06/03/2021 23:04

It's so unfair and its really showing us up. I've got health anxiety and have a few hospital appointments coming up and I wont go until I've had the vaccine. I'm just too worried about outpatient appointments. I'm desperate for the vaccine.

Me too. I work as a teacher and am expected back in class in a week. I am in my 50's and quite worried about going in. It annoys me that there are people able to book down in England but haven't that option here. I feel really frustrated that in a week I am having to put myself at risk in a class with 32 children when vaccination could be round the corner for me.
Fortherosesjoni70 · 07/03/2021 00:25

Tbh, I wouldn't be bothered so much if I could continue to wfh. Its the though of knowing I could catch it and it could be avoided. I worry also for my dh who is in his late 50's

Brunt0n · 07/03/2021 00:30

At this rate I’ll have mine (32 and live in England) before my 62 year old primary school teacher mum gets hers in the Lothians. Infuriating.

That is absolutely ridiculous and totally unfair on your mum, esp as she is a teacher!
Fortherosesjoni70 · 07/03/2021 00:34

So unfair banging on about the age criteria using the JCVI and saying they are doing the most at risk and not interested in giving teachers the vaccine as it goes against the rules and yet they are having a post code lottery over vaccinations. It is truly wrong and shit.

Throwntothewolves · 07/03/2021 00:38

I don't know why we can't book or how things are going but I've had the first one (group 6-CEV) and so have many others I know who are in that bracket. Your time will come, just be patient

I am happy to be patient for as long as I would need to be if I was wfh but the whole thing makes me feel personally frustrated that I will be putting myself at more risk in the coming weeks because of my job.

My mums been teaching keyworker children the whole time. She also successfully fought cancer 10 years ago. She’s been patient enough. Scotland are making a mess of it, simple as that

This is shocking. I have friends in the states and although (as I understand it) they have less vaccines, they've made all teachers and childcare workers group 1. To me this makes more sense as although the CV are vulnerable, they can and have been shielding. Emergency services (which includes teachers imo, this year anyway) don't have the option of staying at home.

Anyway, I'm a carer for a CEV couple and I'm still waiting on mine. I got an email forwarded to me from my employer and filled out the information but heard nothing back yet.

I don't understand how Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen are at 25% when other places are at 45%? This suggests they're just dishing them out equally rather than adjusting for population? Although to be fair the gap seems to be closing... I remember about a month ago checking and Edinburgh and Fife were at 6% or something ridiculous while other places were way way higher. Why aren't we prioritising Glasgow City which is consistently marked as red on the map? (I'm from Edinburgh but can't understand why Glasgow isn't #1 priority at the moment - especially with TierTorture coming soon!)

Why cant we book the vaccine, same as England??
