because BoJo lets you book online in UK.

BoJo is only responsible for England in this respect isn't he? What are Wales and NI doing?

@LetsSplashMummy where can we get information on uptake rates? Genuinely interested to compare across age groups etc.

helpfulperson · 08/03/2021 12:34

That is interesting that scotland do it that way for antenatal classes as well. Certainly locally you get a time slot for the flu vaccine as well so it sounds like it's just NHS in Scotland do vaccines rather than anything covid specific.

ssd · 08/03/2021 13:24

Scotland could learn a lot from England here with the booking systems then.

Our local vaccination centre was empty again when I drove past today. It had been bustling. I don’t know what’s going on

I think NS said there would be a dip in supplies this week. Its not actually fair as England seem to be in more control of it. I think that is why the Scottish Govt wanted to publish the figures as they were getting a lot of stick for being slow. I don't think it is the Scottish Goverments fault when it comes to supply. What is very irritating is that I would like to book mine and yet that isn't an option.
WouldBeGood · 08/03/2021 15:11

It would be good to know @Fortherosesjoni70

Just an honest picture not blighted by politics or the usual “it’s all England’s fault”.

I just can’t believe anything from any politicians just now, and with their Glasgow counting thing and the accusations about the figures last summer Here it’s not inspiring confidence

randomsabreuse · 08/03/2021 15:19

I think in England those who can travel a long way (90 minutes plus) are getting appointments really quickly, especially through the age based system but those tied to a limited area by transport or health needs are behind.

I have a lot of friends in England as I only just moved up to Scotland and the only "young" people who have had the vaccine are either vulnerable or have had it through work for the NHS/caring roles.

The UK as a whole (and Scotland as well) are doing much better than Germany and France in the vaccine roll out.

Littlemissweepy · 09/03/2021 21:22

It’s frustratingly slow at the moment. We were warned there would be a dip in supplies but it has always been so vague as to how much of a dip and for how long “next few weeks” “coming weeks” etc. They have now said rest of this week will continue to be slow and will pick up “significantly” from next week. My dad (64, healthy, Lothains) is getting his on Saturday which feels like progress.

Lucienandjean · 12/03/2021 10:15

There's a problem in the Lothians at the moment because there is a delay in people getting their appointment letters. So sometimes people are getting their letter on the day of their appointment, or even after it's supposed to have happened, so those appointments are then wasted.

I'm on an Edinburgh Facebook group that mentioned it, and gave the helpline number to ring if you think you've been missed / aren't sure if you should have heard yet.

I rang this morning and the very helpful man on the phone gave me the dates for my jag and dh's, and the reference numbers in case our letters don't arrive in time. We're both late 50s and have appointments now next week. Such a relief!

The number is 0800 030 8013. You need to pick option 2.

I've literally just come on to post the exact same thing!

My mum has her appt on Wednesday, thank goodness she had phoned to chase it

For goodness sake!!!

OldRailer · 12/03/2021 11:41

For goodness sake is a mild form of what I'm thinking.

OldRailer · 12/03/2021 11:42

The post gas been bad in done areas since before Christmas.

OldRailer · 12/03/2021 11:42

Sorry: bad in some areas.

Lucienandjean · 12/03/2021 11:54

It's almost beyond belief, isn't it?

Ifyourefeelingsinister · 12/03/2021 13:25

That's really helpful Lucienandjean.

Ifyourefeelingsinister · 12/03/2021 13:27

How far ahead are people getting appointments? I am early 50s so not expecting an appointment for a while - but even if it was a month away, it would be great to have it in the diary.

Aurora791 · 12/03/2021 13:28

@Brunt0n

At this rate I’ll have mine (32 and live in England) before my 62 year old primary school teacher mum gets hers in the Lothians. Infuriating.
Same, my mum is 64 and still not been called up, yet people nearly 10 years younger are being routinely vaccinated in England. Scotland really needs to sort itself out, especially if they are starting to ease restrictions and some vulnerable people still haven’t been vaccinated!!
Lucienandjean · 12/03/2021 14:13

Ifyourefeelingsinister, I'm 56 and my appointment is next Wednesday.

PurpleFrog · 12/03/2021 14:47

I am late 50s and in Fife. I haven't heard anything yet. I have just had a look at the NHS Fife webpage and there is a news item from 10th March which says:

"Invitations to coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination appointments will start to be issued this week for people aged 50-59, who were not included in previous priority groups."

Brunt0n · 12/03/2021 15:29

@Aurora791 definitely get your mum to phone the number posted above - her letter may have got lost!

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 12/03/2021 15:49

The vaccinations in England and Scotland are virtually the same for first doses. 33.8% for Scotland and 34.5 for England as of yesterday. I think Scotland has a much higher take up in the older groups and the % done in each area probably reflects how many old people they have there. So West Lothian was looking v low but we have one of the youngest populations in Scotland.
Here, after the over 60s they have started on the CV and CEV in the over 30s group which seems sensible. I'm early 50s and happy to wait.

Thanks @Brunt0n- I passed the number on and she has her appointment on Monday- thank god for this thread as still no letter! Thanks for everyone who posted about the letter issue!!

Lucienandjean · 12/03/2021 21:20

I'm glad you got it sorted out, Aurora.
