One tries @Bytheloch BRB off to interfere with the serving of some justice or not.

shouldistop · 23/02/2021 21:51

It really pisses me off that I can't even get my baby weighed. It's a small thing I know but would put my mind at ease.

Bytheloch · 23/02/2021 21:52

Don’t let me hold you back, I know you’re busy multitasking just now. @Nipoleonthenoncommital even Mrs Rabbit looks lazy in comparison.

Would furlough for Miss Rabbit be restricted?
Chasingamy · 23/02/2021 22:13

Surely there’s been time now to come up with a better provisional roadmap than this? I get the dates could be subject to change but I thought it was going to be data led, so transparency on the data and criteria would be good. The tier system was ridiculous in as much as e.g Edinburgh had all low indicators and was still kept in a high tier so therefore not driven by the data. If I’d have come up with something like that in work it would’ve been ripped apart. I think the SG are completely missing that people really need hope now. I wonder if they’re worried that if they seem hopeful people will start rule breaking early.... or if there’s something else

Chasingamy · 23/02/2021 22:15

We also have family in England and it is getting annoying that it’s been deliberately not mentioned. Can’t see why crossing into England should be any different if it’s data driven and said English areas have low levels

GoldenOmber · 23/02/2021 22:20

Also have family in rUK. God knows when we'll get to see them again at this rate, feels like we'll be lucky if we're even allowed out of our local authority area this side of Christmas.

The worst kind of 'roadmap' - tells you nothing, but makes it clear you're not going anywhere either.

ResilienceWanker · 23/02/2021 22:20

I agree chasingamy! I'm getting worried by the determined reluctance to reassure people on this. I'm so glad my DPs moved to Scotland from England a couple of years ago. I don't know how I'd cope if there was no chance of seeing them in the foreseeable Sad It's bad enough as it is not having seen them since Christmas (illicit drive by present exchange) and I know loads of people have it much worse.

ResilienceWanker · 23/02/2021 22:22

Ha. Yes, it's not a map, really if we're not allowed on any of the roads.

GoldenOmber · 23/02/2021 22:24

I think it's partly that, partly that they want to underpromise and overdeliver, and partly that they're sure they want to go for zero covid but can't work out what they're planning to do when they get there.

Does feel that they've misread the public mood, though. People want hope and a light at the end of the tunnel, even if they can't tell us exactly how long the tunnel is. Yeah fine maybe England won't be back in nightclubs on June 21st but at least there's an aim for that. What's our aim, that maybe possibly if we're really really good and remember what FACTS stands for and eliminate the virus from Scotland, that we'll be allowed to have a socially distanced visit of no more than 5 people in our homes? Well doesn't that sound fun.

MaxNormal · 23/02/2021 22:27

@ProvisionallyAnxious I was actually going to vote SNP and then for Indy and thought Sturgeon was just the person to deliver it.
The last few months have been somewhat eye opening for me.

People already are? I met a friend on Sunday for a walk and the number of groups of multiple adults we bumped into was quite something. Talking 7 or 8 getting in/out of multiple cars. My mil is breaking every rule she can on principle (she's from NI and has issues with authority) and the roads seem packed so the stay at home thing seems long gone. Every shop I've been in for the last few months has had zero social distancing, B&M being particularly bad.

shouldistop · 23/02/2021 22:38

Once DH, DM, step dad, MIL & BIL have been vaccinated I'll just be inviting friends over etc. I don't know which of my friends will come but I'm sure some will.

DH & BIL have moderate asthma
MIL in an unpaid carer
DM & Step dad are 64

Hopefully it won't be long for their vaccinations then I'm just going to be doing anything I can get away with.

AgentCooper · 23/02/2021 22:39

@jabbathebutt

cheering myself up by listening to 90s songs on spotify

Scatman came on. Fucking hell. That's a flashback.

@jabbathebutt my 3 year old DS loves that song. Sometimes he just bursts out with BEE baba ba bo bo for no reason Grin
Sweetpotatoaddict · 23/02/2021 22:40

Why is B&M allowed to open?? And why can M&S sell clothes?? And why can John Lewis only do click and collect from a store that isn't them. Covid must know, and avoids these environments.

GoldenOmber · 23/02/2021 22:41

Not surprised people have been breaking the rules around social contact. We've been sticking with these hellish restrictions for a year now and there's only so long we can hear "just a little bit longer" with no end date before saying, you know what, I'm deciding on an end date myself.

AgentCooper · 23/02/2021 22:42

@Dinosauratemydaffodils B&M and Home Bargains are crazy. I was in HB last week to get baby wipes and Bepanthen but obviously I come out with a variety of unnecessary crap to boot. Folk are not doing their food shopping there. I can’t say I blame them, everybody just wants to lift their spirits a bit.
ResilienceWanker · 23/02/2021 22:44

I agree there may well be a reduction in compliance with all the rules. It's no longer feeling like there's a final push towards a shared goal, frankly. As soon as the weather gets better, even if there's still a stay at home order (not lifted til early April at the earliest?) people won't be just leaving the house for essential reasons. Wonder if they've factored that into their models?

Also, who thought it was a good idea to reopen places of worship (OK, only for 20 people, but still...) the day after the largest Christian festival? That's just spite, surely. If they're going to move it earlier as suggested, why not just give that as the date?! The date of Easter is hardly a surprise FFS.

Bytheloch · 23/02/2021 23:10

@Nipoleonthenoncommital Mrs Rabbit isn’t up for sharing all the details of her many jobs, so furlough qualification v.difficult to assess. She must struggle to keep up with all the work messages across WhatsApp or Signal and try to remember who asked for what. Hmm Poor Mrs Rabbit.

Graffitiqueen · 23/02/2021 23:21

I do think NS has misread the mood. Contrast the reaction to Boris's announcement yesterday and the reaction to hers. People are not on board with a zero covid strategy.

GoldenOmber · 23/02/2021 23:37

I do not get why Zero Covid is so appealing to them at this point. You can’t do it without closing all your borders and making your population go through little lockdowns forever, and why on earth would you when there’s a vaccine?

It’s like devoting yourself to Betamax at this point. Yeah maybe it was genuinely the better format in 1982, but the world has moved on now.
