New thread, imaginatively titled.

I haven't really caught up on the update today.

However I received a blue envelope to get vaccinated next week. My colleagues found my excitement amusing.

JustTalking · 23/02/2021 19:14

Congratulations Groovee!

WouldBeGood · 23/02/2021 19:14

@kurtrussellsbeard please don’t derail my thread- I’m really not feeling good. I know we disagree about the SG but I’m asking you please could you not start on here

jabbathebutt · 23/02/2021 19:17

what are the odds we'll all be back in tier 1 or 0 just in time for a certain election eh

Or maybe the existing tiers will be tweaked a little bit so that we get the pubs maybe and that'll be enough for some voters.

kurtrussellsbeard · 23/02/2021 19:19

I'm genuinely sorry that you don't feel great @WouldBeGood.

I'm not derailing. I was railing. If you don't like it then feel free to ignore me. This is a chat forum with thousands of users. You can't police who is welcome and who isn't.

If people want to come on here and moan about posters like me then I have every right to moan right back and you have every right to ignore.

jabbathebutt · 23/02/2021 19:23

I don't even know where I would go on holiday in Scotland if I could. I mean why pay a fortune for the same shit weather and midges. Plus DD might be totally bored. I don't know if we'll get to Cornwall and everything seems booked out already. Maybe Alton Towers but not convinced its safe there after those accidents.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 23/02/2021 19:26

I hope all opinions continue to be accepted on this thread.
If I don't like a comment, I just scroll on by.
I appreciate I'm just a random on the Internet and my opinion doesn't matter to most people.
If a post breaks the MN rules it can be reported. I don't think threads have their own rules, but I could be wrong.

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 23/02/2021 19:26

Wouldbegood which year is your son in? I am fairly confident in what I've told mine, that reference on the news is the first I've heard re blended (though it's all subject to the caveats of watching the numbers I suppose). He will be in in some form after Easter!

jabbathebutt · 23/02/2021 19:26

Its bad enough that the tiers thread is now pro SNP but lets not have this thread ruined as well.

kurtrussellsbeard · 23/02/2021 19:29

Variety is the spice of life @jabbathebutt

Graffitiqueen · 23/02/2021 19:31

@ProvisionallyAnxious

Apologies if this has been said already, but I'm so so disheartened and disillusioned by this NS quote from today:

"I certainly hope as we go further into the easing of lockdown, one of the things we can do is ease the travel restrictions within Scotland so that loved-ones who live in different parts of the country can get together again.

International travel restrictions I think will have to be in place for a bit longer..."

No mention of people with loved ones in other parts of the UK. The implication in paragraph 1 is very much about Scottish travel... Is England international now?

I campaigned for indy but fuck this.

You campaigned for Indy yet you are shocked by the thought of the rest of the UK as international?! That was the whole point of Indy!

Putting up borders is exactly what the SNP want to do. One of the main reasons I voted against it was that I didn't want to live in a separate country from my loved ones all over the UK.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 19:35

I have noticed the exclusion of the rest of the UK too. It's Scotland and International on a few documents.

Not cool.

Surely you know that independence would mean exactly that?

shouldistop · 23/02/2021 20:10

@kurtrussellsbeard I'm not really for policing where users post but when the op of a thread has been very clear today about how much they are struggling you're just coming across as a bully gloating about how you can post where you like. What are you getting out of it?

Coquohvan · 23/02/2021 20:11

Sorry your not great @Would hope you feel better soon. Always value your posts. Flowers I’ve took time away for a few wks, then after today’s news I ventured back to see if others agreed with me. Seems most do. It’ll be 11mths off closure for my DD’s gym when/if they open end of April. Appreciate others are having equally bad times be it WFH schools money problems mental health issues etc We need to respect each other and ignore those that don’t.

Me too. It made my day actually.
StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 20:18

Can I rail loudly against the suggestion of changing the tier indicators to the WHO ones? ARGH

shouldistop · 23/02/2021 20:19

@StatisticallyChallenged what would that mean?

celtiethree · 23/02/2021 20:26

Re the S1 to S3 the statement re return to school is IMO deliberately vague, using the word ‘ongoing’. The schools still need to do pretty much all the assessments for national qualifications which will of course be prioritised. I think a prior statement re limited return was very clear that there had to be 2m distancing! Therefore there will not be space for the those in the junior phase to be in school full time. Consensus seems to be that they will be the least damaged and can be taught a lot remotely (I don’t agree). Therefore after Easter I think the S1 to S3 will be thrown a bone of a very limited return to school, definitely not full time. Happy to proven wrong.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 20:27

link page 56 - 60

If they go with the WHO indicators, which they're hinting, then the tiers will be more stringent. So you will need fewer cases to be in tier 1 than you would have previously.

There's a table comparing them , see image

shouldistop · 23/02/2021 20:30

Thanks @StatisticallyChallenged will have a read

shouldistop · 23/02/2021 20:37

Found this. They don't even follow their 'current level indicators'. If they did then currently my area would be level 1 and should never have been above level 3. As it is I haven't been allowed to mix with my mum etc since September!

AgentCooper · 23/02/2021 20:39

@WouldBeGood I hear you Flowers

I can’t stomach a good word about Sturgeon right now. Nobody talks about the supreme fuck ups. Use your power to make it illegal to leave your local authority but don’t make it illegal for carers to come into vulnerable people’s homes without recent Covid tests? Brilliant. Which is how my housebound FIL got it, literally the only way possible.

JustTalking · 23/02/2021 20:44

I hope this link works, it's a long chat between two Californians but it's really upbeat from the professor of infectious disease and they cover public health messaging towards the end.
