I've seen the tweets bytheloch, cue the Darth Vader music. I may not divulge to DH as it'll be a depressing weekend!

I think nurseries will be going back, tbh. This can't keep going on with no progress to open up society again. Kids need some kind of normality. I feel optimistic about nurseries going back from 22nd.

Also, it needs to be done gradually to get different age groups back, they can't all just return all at once after Easter. Harder to monitor outbreaks.

I really hope you are right. Nursery kids are being so neglected. Parents cannot WFH, HS older kids and give them the attention they deserve.

I also got the impression that the return on the 22nd was not a given at the briefing today.

goodname · 12/02/2021 18:47

Yep I listened to the briefing and thought “oh crap”. My kids are in older primaries but my friends with younger kids are finding it so hard to work form home. There’s not that much difference between p1/2 and nursery for level of attention needed.
Also if they don’t go back in February when on earth are the rest going back. It would be pretty bad for schools that are getting all organised as well I guess.
The reason given was that we seem to have got stuck around the 800 cases a day and it’s not getting lower because the new variants so contagious. I winder if we even can get lower then? Maybe this is just how many cases well keep getting from people working or going into hospital etc. In that case will it ever get better?
