I love Iceland too, just been the once though! It's showing 7 day average, per 100 people.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/02/2021 13:45
@StarryEyeSurprise can't tell if that graph is showing millions vaccinated or percentage of population?

Iceland for example only has just over a quarter of a million people as their entire population.

wants to go to iceland for the 6th time Sad
It's showing progress over the last 7 days so reflects the ramping up. We are still generally behind overall - or were yesterday when you take account of 2nd vaccs as well. I think we might be ahead or NI in terms of first vaccs but they've done more 2nd doses.

I'm not saying it isn't a great achievement btw just balancing that with the bigger picture. I think at one point we were about 4% down, I think that is closer or less than 3% now.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/02/2021 13:45

The vaccination centre in our town is only open Friday/Saturday/Sunday, I guess to take over from the GPs. There was a huge local effort with farmers coming with ploughs to clear the roads around the community centre.

anon444877 · 12/02/2021 13:48

That's heartwarming to hear include -
I've seen Twitter appeals round us to get out with a shovel to clear pavements for people.

StarryEyeSurprise · 12/02/2021 14:03

Same in Braemar @IncludeWomen. I don't think it should be seen as a race but praise should be given where warranted. So nice that communities are pulling together.

jabbathebutt · 12/02/2021 14:08

shows how badly the vaccine is needed if people are getting jagged in -16 degrees in Braemar

kurtrussellsbeard · 12/02/2021 15:18

So what is the deal with the supply being scaled back does anyone know? Will this be awhile of UK thing?

Cismyfatarse · 12/02/2021 15:35

Am worrying about the new Fred.

Snow more tiers?

@kurtrussellsbeard

Pfizer mentioned that their supplies from plant in Belgium would dip in March as they're upgrading the plant to upscale production. I think our Pfizer all come from there so that may well be why.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 12/02/2021 15:40

I'm really glad to see that we're finally ramping up the vaccinations - overall fastest in the UK this week I think! But, we do have to remember that this is on the back of a very sluggish start and those extra few weeks to get going will have left people at risk for longer. My parents both have appointments now for the coming weeks (yay!) but my relatives in England who are of similar ages were all done several weeks ago.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/02/2021 15:42

I think it's still patchy too - my parents and in laws were all done two weeks ago (in their 60s).

I am worried that the drop in supply, which is being well advertised, will be turned into more government blaming. Not that I particularly care about their feelings but public trust is a necessity when you want people to work together and follow rules for the greatest good.

StarryEyeSurprise · 12/02/2021 15:48

Fastest in Europe actually.

Im sure I read that south of the border, care home deaths rose by 46 per cent in January, whereas in Scotland they declined (by 41 per cent I believe). I feel the SG did the right thing. People in care homes are sitting ducks.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 12/02/2021 15:50

Thinking about the expected drop in supply and the need to conserve second doses, I wonder if this might be why England has been dropping off in recent days? They got off to a flying start so will have burnt through more of the first dose capacity earlier iyswim.

jabbathebutt · 12/02/2021 15:51

Fred name:

"here come those tiers again"

(jackson browne song)

I think that's probably most app for where we currently are

LetItGoGo · 12/02/2021 15:52

That seems logical.

Sootess · 12/02/2021 15:52

There's thousands of frontline nhs and care workers due their second doses from beginning of March. They all had Pfizer so supplies will have to earmarked for that.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/02/2021 16:00

Probably. They just can't keep giving out first doses or we'll be in a big world of shit.
Bytheloch · 12/02/2021 16:10

So according to Twitter, hints that the schools (p1-3) may not return on the 22nd after all. Not sure whether it implies nurseries impacted too. Jason Leitch chin stroking over figures this afternoon. It’s on Chris Musson’s latest post.

StarryEyeSurprise · 12/02/2021 16:10

Yeah, I still have the fear over the UK's strategy but time will tell!

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 12/02/2021 16:13

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel totally agree. Making sure there are enough second doses is essentially, and if there are expected supply issues it's sensible to slow down.

anon444877 · 12/02/2021 16:15

Twitter rumours over schools? Oh my goodness bytheloch! Things can always get worse eh?

I like snow more tiers and Jackson Browne. Any thread name.

Bytheloch · 12/02/2021 16:16

Specifically, a hint at the media briefing this afternoon, not just twitter rumours.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 12/02/2021 16:20

I wonder if they've been spooked by figures coming out of Israel and Italy regarding children being more heavily affected by the new variants?

jabbathebutt · 12/02/2021 16:27

link to what they say about schools staying shut?

Bytheloch · 12/02/2021 16:28

Chris Musson post, but it featured in the general Q&A from briefing today.
