Sorry. Lost track of what was proposed. Hope this will do.

We are thinking of just doing day trips as weather picks up. And a bucket in the van for toileting 🤪 that way you can't get caught out if no toilets nearby.

Can understand why people want to book an actual holiday though, psychologically makes life feel normal, something to aim for etc.

jabbathebutt · 12/02/2021 07:51

apart from schools, I'm wondering what else could reopen first?

I can't see indoor hospitality opening in March but I think it might be better to start with maybe outdoor beer gardens and farmers markets? Maybe increase number of people we can socialise with outside?

would hairdressers and beauty reopen? Gyms?

The media are going nuts - wanting everything open immediately. That's just madness. Figures are falling, but how much of that is the vaccination and how much is lockdown?

rookiemere · 12/02/2021 07:57

@jabbathebutt the Edinburgh farmers market is already open, although they've taken away most of the fun bits so no free samples, or venison burgers or coffee. But still a focal point where I meet my friend who lives alone for our state sanctioned (but still slightly frowned upon) walk. Amazing Baklava round the corner at the Greek cafe on Bread Street. Toilets available in middle of Princes St Gardens at the bandstand bit, or Waverly Station.

No one can accuse me of not taking my pleasures where I can Grin.

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/02/2021 08:05

We had a small flood yesterday, so a friend kindly brought round a couple of dehumidifiers for us. I swear we practically raced each other to the door just to interact with another human!

museumum · 12/02/2021 08:07

In normal “level 4” my outdoor exercise class and running group are allowed to open. I’d love them back!
Also meeting outside with another family or couple rather than just one other adult.

rookiemere · 12/02/2021 08:11

Outdoor exercise and 6 teens allowed to meet like they were before is what I’m hoping for.

jabbathebutt · 12/02/2021 08:13

When does NS tell us what we can do? Is she waiting til BJ goes first?

WouldBeGood · 12/02/2021 08:20

Gyms and hairdressers and restaurants and pubs, please Ms Sturgeon

blowinahoolie · 12/02/2021 08:27

Needing a haircut badly😫

anon444877 · 12/02/2021 08:29

Apparently the economy is like a coiled spring, waiting to bounce back. And we've all saved loads apparently.

I'm sure this is part of the problem - the govts know that as soon as any freedoms are given people will be off like slightly arthritic old retrievers, as fast as their paws can go (in my case).

MrsAmaretto · 12/02/2021 08:30

I went and met a friend in a cafe the other day (level 3) I actually got teary. We’ve all been voluntarily living like we’re in lockdown due to a local outbreak but cafes are opening their doors again and it was great. Still not living like before but have decided to meet up with certain people.

anon444877 · 12/02/2021 08:31

End of last lockdown I had the worst hair cut due to having too long to talk myself into something radical for a change - I decided to get it dyed and cut really short in case of another lockdown. Dh said it looked so bad I should change hairdressers 😂

The short haircut was spot on though - I'm just now getting to the too long hair stage.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/02/2021 08:45

I have miraculously worked my hairdresser visits around lockdowns Grin

My roots are starting to show now, but I'm not going anywhere so don't really care.

DH ordered clippers and asked me to do the back of his head...his hairline is an inch higher on the left and I haven't told him ...

rookiemere · 12/02/2021 08:46

I got my hair cut very frequently between July- December, partly because I was worried about them being closed suddenly and partly to give them the business as after the initial flurry they were suffering.

It gets thick really quickly and because I've not had highlights for a year now it gets lank within a day. I know it's not the right thread for it, but any recommendations for deep cleansing shampoos are recommended as it always feels like I have product on it, even though I've stopped using conditioner.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/02/2021 08:51

I've stopped using conditioner too, my hairdresser has a vendetta against it! But I feel like my hair is really flyaway and static-y now.

I am not good at hair really, no recommendations from me unfortunately.

Rookiemere

These shampoo bars are great for hair such as yours. They last for ages.

www.kohabeauty.co.uk/product-page/solid-handmade-shampoo-bar

They sell like hot cakes when they are out on the website so you could email to ask when they're back in stock.

Here is a review of them from Good House Keeping where they were top buy.

rookiemere · 12/02/2021 09:03

@Aurea thank you, I've never tried shampoo bars so that will be an exciting new purchase for me !

anon444877 · 12/02/2021 09:30

I tried stopping using conditioner include but the wind just knackers the condition of it, so went back to it. I've tried so many shampoos over the years - olaplex is raved about at the moment but it didn't seem worth it.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/02/2021 09:38

I was going to try a shampoo bar from Lush but they're so expensive! I didn't want to spend a fortune on what is still just shampoo after all.

Maybe that's where I'm going wrong Grin

rookiemere · 12/02/2021 10:05

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel yes perhaps my issue isn't helped by using TKMaxx £2.99 for 1l shampoo - this is the actual truth Blush.

One good side effect of lockdown is no TK Maxx or Charity shop impulse purchases. A fee weeks ago I went through my drawers in a methodical fashion and determined that I needed more jeans and semi casual tops and then sourced and purchased them. Instead of my last charity shop buys of two slightly tight dresses- couldn't try on - that I'll never wear anywhere but were unworn and good labels.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/02/2021 10:22

Ha, I spent £300 in M&S last February on new 'take me seriously' work clothes. Lockdown kicked in three weeks later, I've barely worn them, and now I don't even like them any more.

I'm living in, erm, stretchy breeks. I've got to go into the office next week, who on earth knows what I'll be wearing.

blowinahoolie · 12/02/2021 10:29

I am frightened to try on my jeans😬

I've tried the soul and soap one and that is also nice although I preferred the vegan jasmine version.

anon444877 · 12/02/2021 11:01

Oh I've tried mine on blowin, there will be a lot of gym memberships being taken out when they reopen!

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/02/2021 11:16

I think my jeans would laugh at me
