Fred is my imaginary friend.

He keeps me going when I have just taught 6 hours online and am shattered!

It sure is.

I teach 1:1 online. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to be able to continue my work, but it's limited and very hard going. So looking forward to going back to in person.

titsbumfannythelot · 25/01/2021 17:03

Aloha Cis and Fred

Coquohvan · 25/01/2021 17:12

Matt Hancock on BBC now. Saying Scotland needed Ambulance help at the weekend which England helped with. Not heard that maybe missed it. Was it on NS daily briefing didn’t watch that.

He said this is why we’re better together 😁 what will NS make of that comment?

Lockdownbear · 25/01/2021 17:17

Oh Man!
A few month / 6 weeks ago the two bits of Ireland had been helping each other out with Ambulances too.
I can't remember if it was Belfast sending them to Dublin first but the roles were reversed about two weeks later.

Lockdownbear · 25/01/2021 17:19

Sorry I was going to say, a few weeks ago, then thought it must longer, and forgot to delete the few.

Rae36 · 25/01/2021 17:26

They were talking about the ambulances earlier today and Jason/Gregor/Whoever was saying its fairly common for ambulance services to help out across borders and it really wasn't news. Suggesting it works both ways and it just so happened this time round Scotland was benefitting. Who knows?

Cismyfatarse · 25/01/2021 17:42

It just should not be spun by NS as a we are doing well aren't we? And being better at presenting than Boris is not really anything to do with actual policy - it is just presentation.

Vaccine rollout is not good at all.

A wee story from the Highlands.

They sent 2 Drs and a nurse to do 4 jags on one island. Why not send over enough to do the lot of them? Only about 60 people on the island over 18. Why not stick a few more vials on and get it done?

Are they really going to do a 5 hour round trip on the ferry for each different group? What a total waste of Dr / nurse resources, if so.

Madness!

I’m not sure I could face tier 4 again in Glasgow been in the toughest lockdowns since September. Especially if they open schools elsewhere and not here.

ssd · 25/01/2021 17:44

It does sound like madness Indeed

ssd · 25/01/2021 17:46

Ice taken ignoring the news and watching Escape to the country/Rick Stein in Cornwall/bob Ross/Antique roadshow on a loop......

I'll probably need sectioned after this....

ssd · 25/01/2021 17:46

Covid patients from Carlisle had to be taken to Dumfries earlier this month because the Carlisle hospital was overwhelmed. Seems reasonable to pool resources.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 25/01/2021 17:47

second Fred in a row I've named

That's going on my CV Grin

parks bottom

Lockdownbear · 25/01/2021 17:48

CIS that's bonkers, 2 Drs and a nurse to do how many jags?
That's a bit like the old question 'how many people to dig a hole?'

Lockdownbear · 25/01/2021 17:49

I'm surprised SG didn't make more of it at the time if they sent ambulances south.

anon444877 · 25/01/2021 17:50

Thank goodness Monday is nearly over! is this blue Monday? Isn't there a day late jan that has the record for most people off sick?

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 25/01/2021 17:52

Interesting: I was speaking to a colleague who lives about 8 miles from the border (on the Scottish side) and she said their area was in Tier 1 for quite a while, but their shops and cafes were being rammed with people coming from over the border who were in a stricter tier.

They quickly shot up to the top of the positive case league table before Christmas.

So yes, pooling resources seems fair!

Heard from a male friend today who is off work but getting better. wouldn't tell me why except its been a long year.

Said friend used to have drug and alcohol issues. parent has dementia and both parents live in other part of Scotland. One sibling, who doesn't live anywhere near him or their parents either. Friend had a bad accident earlier this year (on a bike and hit by a car)

friend is single (think has a partner although strangely he will talk about everything family related except his love life!)

So I'm worried he's maybe had a relapse but I've got no way of knowing nor can I just turn up cause even though I know where he lives, I've never been invited there. Also....lockdown restrictions.

V worried about him tbh. He helped me a lot with my own mental health and work shite (he's an ex colleague). Wish I could help him too.

This pandemic is really damaging people's mental health and relationships.

Lockdownbear · 25/01/2021 18:02

I will, he sounds like a vulnerable person. Who could argue if you arrange to meet somewhere?

Sounds like you could visit to provide care for a vulnerable person .
