They could just stand out the information rather than include a patronising coveting lettet

anon444877 · 26/01/2021 14:47

wimmin did just get a patronising pat on the head from Rishi, that's not great either! I can do without letters but there must be a market for some people.

No change, another week to get through til the next exciting edge of seat non-update.

WouldBeGood · 26/01/2021 14:49

I can see why sending the info out is good. No need letters though.

No love for Rishi here, though he does wear beautiful shirts 😊

anon444877 · 26/01/2021 14:55

plus you know, he has that nice keeps your tea warm gadget, I want one. Do love a nice gadget or 15.

WouldBeGood · 26/01/2021 15:05

Oh, does he? 😂

Invisimamma · 26/01/2021 16:28

For those whose children are struggling with not seeing friends, just a wee reminder that 'informal childcare' is permitted, so they could come round to play without their grownups if everyone was okay with it. Or meet in a local park, I've spent lots of hours standing cold in the park the last few weeks whilst my 6yr old plays with a pal.

DollyMixtureLulus · 26/01/2021 16:34

My parents have both received a vaccine letter! Roll on 6th Feb!

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 26/01/2021 16:35

over 100,000 people dead of Covid in the UK

I remember being OMG when they said we'd be lucky if it was 20,000

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 26/01/2021 16:43

It's an unimaginable amount of people don't you think? The streets are calm, nobody is panicking, there seems to be very little actually happening. It's not what I thought a pandemic would be like.

Sometimes I try to picture it like a football stadium; it's two Hampdens full. Fuck me.

Groovee · 26/01/2021 17:10

Between covering on the school tots and dd's birthday, I am knackered.

I've heard army personnel are on call and some have been given an hours notice to go do school is having to take more children.

Dd got her vaccine this morning. She has a sore arm now.

Am off til Monday then I have 13 days off. I cannot wait. Nicola better not take my holidays off me.

titsbumfannythelot · 26/01/2021 17:17

Hopefully that'll not happen. How is Mr G @Groovee?

WouldBeGood · 26/01/2021 17:17

My boy is twelve so no fun permitted.

Rae36 · 26/01/2021 17:27

They can have fun with one person. My 13 Yr old has started going out for a walk with his pal. At first he found the whole experience very strange, usually they would have been playing football or something, not just walking around talking to each other, but they seem to be getting the hang of it now

WouldBeGood · 26/01/2021 17:33

I’ve tried to encourage him, @Rae36 but he won’t have it. The weather is particularly grim too here. And I rink he’s starting to get really fed up again.

Tbh, I’d just let his friend cone over but ds is too worried.

Lockdownbear · 26/01/2021 17:40

Even just get the two of them passing a ball between them.

It seems bonkers when you think about it, DS pal 11, has already said 'I won't be able to come out to play after my birthday'
What a happy birthday that will be...Sad
I know they have to have a cut off but

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/01/2021 18:08

Vaccination stats not improving really. I also saw a chart somewhere showing that death certificated "covid" deaths are now higher than excess deaths.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/01/2021 18:09

Oops, meant to attach the chart

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/01/2021 18:13

Also this:

We are being told that doing the care homes first meant it was slower (still not sure why) but actually care home residents are a smaller percentage of the numbers completed than you'd think.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/01/2021 18:16

Although actually that last chart is nearly a week out of date, I forgot that was a weekly one.

rookiemere · 26/01/2021 18:42

@Lockdownbear regarding your soon to be 12 year old. Talking to friends with a DS 12 , but as all his friends are aged 11 they think it's ok as only one 12+ in the group so would be similar to one adult with a group of under 12 DCs. I'm not describing that well, but hopefully you get what I mean.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 26/01/2021 18:45

I read somewhere that Center Parcs and Haven have increased their prices dramatically.

As if Center parcs wasn't overpriced enough!

Used to be good, now its shite.

Why pay a bloody fortune for the exact same weather and activities has always been my attitude to UK holidays (although I do like London theatre which you can't really get here - more options than Edinburgh)

But it might be all we get....unless Nipoleon closes the "border"

Scottishskifun · 26/01/2021 18:48

Centre Parcs was always a rip off!

We want to go visit the outer islands this summer but I have no idea when to try to book ferry tickets for! I was thinking June but its looking optimistic to say the least (we have a small campervan so fairly self sufficient other then only having a solar outdoor shower which would probably be freezing!)

anon444877 · 26/01/2021 18:56

I had a rainy centre parks style week in august last year where it rained nearly every day - the fear this is my fate again this summer is strong! Haven't even got a dog now to take with, as the one upside is you can usually take pets and they love mud.

I'm not giving up hope on schools returning or holidays outside Scotland yet. Maybe there will be a freak February heat wave?

Ah Tuesday night, hooray.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/01/2021 19:04

I loved Center Parcs more when it was not center parcs (the one in the lakes) but the name escapes me.

i've gone probably about 10 times or more over the years, always got a decent deal or when compared to abroad holiday was reasonably comparable. We generally went abroad every 2nd year. My boys were big lovers of the pool so we used the "free" activities a lot and also booked other stuff slightly off peak, so bowling in the morning, table tennis or tennis during lunch or dinner times, took our own bikes and went down to the pond with fishing nets.

As people who never ever had any other child care, it was a godsend being able to put them both into a club, even as babies, and get a meal to ourselves.
