Well, now that Eck has lit the blue touch paper, things are going to get interesting!
Who is lying?
Who is telling the truth( or as close to it as any politician gets)
And, who will be left standing?

Can you link please? I'm not sure what this is in reference to.

dementedma · 09/01/2021 19:52

I’ll try and do a link. It’s Salmond’s testimony that Sturgeon has lied to the enquiry into his court case and has wilfully misled parliament.
It’s explosive stuff.

Interesting times indeed. Ns's account was never plausible, and if what Alex Salmond says is true, she did lie to parliament and it is a resigning matter. I don't like AS (to put it mildly) but neither do I like politicians misusing their power, and let's face it, if it was Boris NS would be first in line calling for his head.

Ludo19 · 09/01/2021 20:15

Both as bad as each other. But AS is going for the jugular now. If indeed she has been lying and it can indeed be proven she's in the deep stuff.

They've had a close working relationship in the past, he'll know her next move for sure. Brown nose Blackford had to put in his tuppenseworth too.

ParkheadParadise · 09/01/2021 20:15

I can't bloody stand AS.
It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.

I despise AS but he has a formidable intellect and a degree of Machiavellian cunning that makes him a ruthless opponent. And this is personal.
I think he will be her nemesis and the irony of it is pretty sweet to those of us who aren’t Nats.

I agree. This will be fascinating to see it play out.

AS is a formidable operator and I think NS could be in trouble

Sexnotgender · 09/01/2021 20:38

He’s shrewd as fuck, like him or not I wouldn’t want him as an enemy.

DrDreReturns · 09/01/2021 20:38

What did Sturgeon say? She couldn't remember the meeting when she was first informed of the allegations against Salmond? That doesn't sound likely, you'd remember when you first heard a big piece of news like that.

dementedma · 09/01/2021 20:42

And no records of the meeting or subsequent ones were kept - allegedly.
She and Murrell are on the back foot and Salmond is out for revenge. He’s loathsome but my money is on him to take his former protégé down

He is really going for her. I think he is guilty as hell but I do also think she got her hands dirty here. What happens if she has to resign? Does Swinney take over because the makes me feel a bit ill regardless of how much I hate her I do actually think she intelligent.

dementedma · 09/01/2021 20:44

Swinney has been a dead man walking for years. There is a lack of strength in the SNP as it has been so tightly controlled by Nicola and her husband.
Joanna cherry is a possibility.

“Oh what a tangled web we weave
When first we practice to deceive”
🍿🍿🍿
They’re as sleekit as each other

Griefmonster · 09/01/2021 20:53

AS is NOT a more formidable intellect than NS. Can we stop buying in to this bullshit about entitled men. He is another supremely entitled white man who has lost power and influence and can't stand it out in the cold.

I can quite believe that neither of them are being honest.

LockdownSucksBalls · 09/01/2021 20:54

Just been looking up Joanne Cherry @dementedma could be a good option. It really won't fit NS narrative of this is proved the all caring great leader lies about women being harassed.

PapsofJura · 09/01/2021 21:11

I think they are both lying but I really wouldn’t want AS as an enemy. He cut his teeth in Westminster politics and really could be widely attributed to taking the SNP to the level they are now as prior to him they were really the third or possibly fourth party in Scotland. A very Machiavellian character.

Whilst I despise both the feminist in me would be sad to see a woman brought down by a sleazy man.

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/01/2021 21:38

They are all lying, AS, NS and PM and possibly others. I've just got the popcorn out and waiting for them all to get their comeuppance.

LockdownSucksBalls · 09/01/2021 21:40

@PapsofJura I agree with you in respect of her being brought down by a man like her I'm also bloody angry that a woman with a decent chance made a complete arse of it.

Scottishskifun · 09/01/2021 21:42

As is a nasty misogynistic weasel who has been shown to be a bully and a liar

As much as I don't agree with SNP prefer that NS beat AS!

I shouldn't what to get the popcorn out but as we are talking about the dreadful woman I will.
thedevilinablackdress · 09/01/2021 21:48

Really hate this sort of soap opera politics that seems to blight Westminster. There are serious issues here no doubt, but they (and all the other important things going on!) get overshadowed by who's backstabbing who.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 09/01/2021 21:48

Didn't her husband make a statement that contradicts her account of what happens.

She has been doomed since then surely.

thedevilinablackdress · 09/01/2021 21:49

I mean that is particularly virulent in Westminster and hoped to avoid so much of it in Scottish parliament. But politics and the media, eh.
