Thanks for starting this. I enjoy reading everyone's opinions.

anon444877 · 17/12/2020 07:26

Good morning!

runningpink · 17/12/2020 07:28

Thanks @Bikingbear for new thread

I think us ‘clean’ ones 😉 in the Scottish Borders will be bumped a level pretty quickly as rates worse than they have been I think.
Is she doing a level update on Tuesday or is that it until after Christmas?

Iv forgotten who asked but I’m thinking the piping would work best for the crackers. One slightly smaller in diameter than the other so it could be slotted inside each other.

These threads move too fast to keep up sometimes

Cismyfatarse · 17/12/2020 07:56

Mrsjayy · 17/12/2020 08:33

Morning, great new thread name ! DH had news on when I got up, kust relentless droning on about Christmas. Turn to FB endless droning about Christmas so here I am. Droning on ..Grin

Mrsjayy · 17/12/2020 08:36

Ooo Vaccine trial how long you doing that for cismyarse

anon444877 · 17/12/2020 08:39

@Mrsjayy at least it's slightly less dull than the exhortations not to have any fun. Good news re vaccine trial @Cismyfatarse fingers crossed no placebo.

Arkadia · 17/12/2020 08:40

@Cismyfatarse, does it mean that you will be footloose and fancy free after that?

Mrsjayy · 17/12/2020 08:41

Oh definitely better here FB friend saying stay home like a Nicbot

Rae36 · 17/12/2020 09:13

Morning all. Feeling weary. Can't even be bothered joining in the banter about the 2m long crackers, even though I think it's really funny and the sort of thing I would usually get very enthusiastic about inventing.

But in the spirit of resilience and Christmas cheer here are 3 things that should be making me happy today

1- I'm finishing up work today and not looking at emails again till after Christmas.

2- I'm going to get my hair cut

3- my good pal who is a nurse in a general ward is getting her first covid vaccine today. That does cheer me up, I imagined it would take them weeks to get round all the medical staff working directly with covid first before moving on to everyone else. So at least in our area things must be going reasonably well. Hopefully my 98 yr old gran will get it soon too, that would lift a massive worry off our family's shoulders.

Have a good day everyone

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/12/2020 09:13

Loving the title, thanks for starting. Also loving "nicbot" 😂

Dinnafashyersel · 17/12/2020 09:13

Morning Biking and fellow skanky scowlers.

Following on from runningpink suggestion. Wonder if empty wrapping paper tubes could be slotted inside each other for giant crackers?

Alternative suggestion is to use my basic wand / palm tree model (I used youtube tutorials for a skills refresh) for an ever expanding cracker. Tape together about 10 sheets of newspaper then roll them round a rolling pin. You can then pull them out from the middle like a telescope. For a wand / tree you have to cut down the rolled up tube halfway to make branches / magic fronds.

Swinney making noises about post Christmas lockdown already Xmas Sad

Some of my nursing friends have already had their first dose of vaccine.

littlbrowndog · 17/12/2020 09:15

Loving nicbot😂 and our new title

Tryin* not to be weary today

anon444877 · 17/12/2020 09:34

I can see the Christmas Eve or Boxing Day lockdown announcement now. Or the let's all go to level 4 and look, everyone else is too, see Germany.

Except you can still meet indoors in Germany.

I'm finishing work tomorrow and looking forward to a relaxing pre Christmas week with the children and not listening to the news.

NotAnActualSheep · 17/12/2020 09:35

Morning, and thanks for the new thread!
running I think there is another review on Tuesday...there wasn't going to be, but NS announced on Tuesday that they'd changed their mind because they didn't want anyone getting complacent of the seriousness of the situation.

cis exciting on the vaccine trial! I've been on the volunteer list for ages but haven't been selected . They don't want my boring white middle aged female immune system. Humph to them.

Rae sorry you're feeling down. But yay to haircut and no work!

I had a teary weary moment last night. Made the mistake of watching the news...was all Don't Do Christmas, look, covid nearly killed this healthy wee boy, and here's a smug student staying in her student accommodation with her smug student mates for the good of her elderly gran. Waaaaah. And then there were some children in England singing Christmas songs in an actual group, with fucking candles. I think it was that that did for me.

On the crackers, downpipes would be sturdy, but I think 2m of them would be heavier than you're expecting! The little pringles tubes are a good idea, and then they could serve as part of the gift. You could attach the snaps to the top of one and the bottom of another!. It almost certainly wouldn't work as well as it should do, and you'd probably have to rummage around separating pringles from everything else though. Which probably defeats the point!

Mrsjayy · 17/12/2020 09:46

I'm hitting some shops today hopefully cheer me up a bit I've only a few bits to get but I enjoy getting the last bits of ChristmasXmas Smile

Mrsjayy · 17/12/2020 09:46

Too many bits sorry Grin

anon444877 · 17/12/2020 10:03

Yes I've saved myself a few presents I want to go buy in person, hopefully all at the same shop so I don't have to drag the kids round more than one packed Christmas shop per day!

I must be going a bit crackers as I'm laying down serious puppy plans for next year after saying I'd wait another few years.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 17/12/2020 10:05

Checking in Xmas Grin

titsbumfannythelot · 17/12/2020 10:12

Checking in. Less than a week to go some time off work.

Trying to ignore what the nicbot says for the ne t few days. It just turns me into the sweary Nan from the Catherine Tate show.

JamesMoriarty · 17/12/2020 10:16

If lockdown/tier 4 is inevitable then I really hope they hold off until January. Immediately after Christmas is too depressing.

titsbumfannythelot · 17/12/2020 10:21

It is, but then why delay the inevitable.

reprehensibleme · 17/12/2020 10:23

runningpink, it's slightly annoying not to know where the cases in this area are - obviously BGH outbreak and maybe 2 nursing homes, but it would help if we knew if there was a huge increase in general transmission - mind you, we're probably being kept in the dark so we're terrified to go out to Wetherspoons .
