I could not do the job of a primary or secondary teacher. They are invaluable in our society and it's commendable how they have soldiered on throughout this year, tbh. My DC need to be there, it's not just about the education, it's about the social aspects of school too. They have nothing left now, no clubs to go to, sports to do etc. They need school.

blowinahoolie · 22/12/2020 19:02

That's the rationing on items happening now. Tesco being one of them.

Wbeezer · 22/12/2020 19:17

Minor Xmas catering disaster: my festive clootie dumpling is boiling away merrily, steaming up the kitchen and I've just realised I forgot to put the sugar in Blush.
Means I'll have to brave the shops to find currants and suet. Looks as though I've cooked the birds a giant Xmas treat.

Sidenote, but why aren’t teachers being offered the vaccine before other professions? (NHS desk based manager, for example and I know of others not in NHS who have appointments already- they are also in health support in private sector which fulfills NHS work) Especially if they’re expected to teach the children of key workers straight after the Christmas mix too.
Baffling.

tinseltitsbumfannythelot · 22/12/2020 19:35

This whole year has been so baffling.

Just adding my two pence but I see such a difference in my two girls since returning to school in August. My p5 has come on in leaps and bounds. That isn't childcare to me.

I just bought all the booze at morrisons. There wasn't that much left.

tinseltitsbumfannythelot · 22/12/2020 19:35

Also would like to nominate tracks of my tiers for next thread name

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 22/12/2020 19:37

FFS are we nearly finished this thread already!

ikswobel · 22/12/2020 19:39

@Wbeezer that's not good.... could you do some mad thing like inject syrup into it

DollyMixtureLulus · 22/12/2020 19:52

Sidenote, but why aren’t teachers being offered the vaccine before other professions?

Those magic school walls again.

When we were staying open, there was an official release which basically admitted that they didn't want to jeopardise the narrative that schools were safe.

Wbeezer · 22/12/2020 19:57

@ikswobel I think it would be easier just to cook another, its mostly for frying for breakfast so I cant get away with syrup. Still if that's the worst food disaster this year its not so bad.
Actually weird though this Christmas is its still better than the one where we all had
Flu or the childhood one when my mum had to go into hospital to get her appendix out on Xmas eve.

ikswobel · 22/12/2020 20:13

Fried dumpling I'm drooling

We do one in the microwave in a Pyrex but it doesn't quite get the same crust on it

RaraRachael · 22/12/2020 21:05

We may or may not have to be in school on 5th, The rest of that week is extra holiday for most children. Keyworker children can come into school - no hubs this time- if they are awarded a place, but just for childcare.
Week beginning 11th online learning for all. I hate the term Blended Learning being bandied about. We are either in school teaching pupils or they are doing home learning, Part of the class can't be in while the other part is at home. Teachers or babysitters according to PP can't be doing both things at the same time and there aren't enough teachers or rooms to split them into smaller groups.

MissEliza · 22/12/2020 21:46

Apparently admin staff at a hospital in Paisley were given the vaccine before nurses. Why am I not surprised this is happening?

AgentCooper · 22/12/2020 22:42

I can’t believe teachers aren’t being prioritised for the vaccine. Absolute bullshit. My DSis is a teacher in a secondary school for children with global learning difficulties and no distancing is possible. She wouldn’t want to keep the kids at arm’s length either because so much of communication is physical and not verbal for many of them. Cheers to all you teachers who have kept things going through this shitshow.

I get released from isolation tomorrow and am going for my first swim since Glasgow initially went into tier 4 back in November. Then on Christmas Eve I’ll be going for my last swim until we go back into tier 4 Sad

RJnomore1 · 22/12/2020 22:55

So sturgeons been caught breaking her own rules?

Peppafrig · 22/12/2020 22:56

What’s she done RJ?

WouldBeGood · 22/12/2020 23:00

They’re all such hypocrites. One rule for them.

After all the lectures about killing your granny, mask wearing and meeting indoors ages been caught with no mask on at a wake in a bar, chatting to old people.

Peppafrig · 22/12/2020 23:01

Just seen the photo well if she can’t follow basic rules then she should do the right thing and step down .

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/12/2020 23:02

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-55419564

Oh dear...

WouldBeGood · 22/12/2020 23:03

@Peppafrig I agree

Peppafrig · 22/12/2020 23:04

Really can’t blame anyone for not following the rules over Christmas when they will wake up to this .

WouldBeGood · 22/12/2020 23:04

I hate the bloody masks but have religiously obeyed the rules on them despite it really impeding my life

PostPopper · 22/12/2020 23:09

She’s said sorry, so that’s ok then. Same as the rest of them who’ve been caught.

So the rest of us can do whatever we like and just say “sorry” too? No?

sweetkitty · 22/12/2020 23:13

I work in a ASN school we got told to prioritise children for a January 6th return based on their vulnerable status. Every child in our school is classed as vulnerable and after 2 weeks at home with nowhere to go they need to be back in school but is protecting them from covid more important? Our management worked for hours informing parents and transport of start dates etc only to be told at 2pm today (we closed at 2.30) that the online learning dates will not apply to ASN schools and they will open as usual from 6th January for parents to decide to send their children. In my experience this means we will have near full classes. My mainstream colleagues will only have keyworker and vulnerable children from the 6th then online learning from the 11th then everyone back on the 18th. we cannot social distance at all, my mask is ripped off a lot It’s just the way it is. Wouldn’t change my job as I love it.

I think I’ll have the easy task though as my DH will be home with our 4 DC, one doing Highers, one N5s and 2 supposed online learning whilst working full time. My DS get stressed as his teacher tells him he must upload his work daily to Teams. DS isn’t one to sit and do it on his own either.

Personally I don’t see this just being until the 18th January but I am so hoping I am wrong I am sick of the whole thing.
