I don't know why I'm not bothering about going into tier 4 on Friday, I guess I've been living a tier 4 life for a while since dh had covid and we're now paranoid about it. The 2 weeks isolation did me in.
Or maybe I'm just trying to keep my head down, arse up, and soldier on.

RJnomore1 · 16/11/2020 22:01

@WouldBeGood please don’t blame the public sector, the focus of our management meeting for one of the councils almost certain to go under today was what support we can put in as a council and Imhoe the west of Scotland councils are pushing for more to help. It’s a national decision and we get shat on regularly by SG but expected to pull then out of the shit with the practical aspects. Our conversation Was about exactly the situation you describe.

I’m incredibly sorry for everyone caught in this. A few local businesses I used have already gone under.

ssd · 16/11/2020 22:04

I think I'm not bothering as the only place I feel safe is at home. I'd love to be furloughed again and be at home. But we'll get redeployed, which we have no choice about, and that scares me.

hilbil21 · 16/11/2020 22:04

I'm in Helensburgh (Argyll and Bute) but although I don't want it to happen, I really feel we should be getting moved to tier 4 if West Dumbartonshire/Glasgow etc do. I'm sure I heard her say today that she's not going to "split" local authorities, but I think she's a wee bit mental if she thinks everyone isn't going to jump on the train to our wee toon!

ssd · 16/11/2020 22:05

I feel so bad for everyone and everything but I just can't take on any more worry outside my family. I'm in denial.

RJnomore1 · 16/11/2020 22:05

You know what, when are they going to fecking admit it’s the schools that are spreading it? I’m getting really angry by now.

WouldBeGood · 16/11/2020 22:06

I just think it’s easier for those in secure public sector jobs to want more lockdown and closures.

The difference between council premises and private businesses has been staggering. The first remaining mostly shut or with loads of rules; the latter showing huge imagination and effort to keep going.

I think a lot of the Scottish Government have no idea how hard it is to keep going when you’re not in a secure state funded job.

ssd · 16/11/2020 22:08

Absolutely agree.
WouldBeGood · 16/11/2020 22:09

Because the evidence doesn’t show that it’s the schools.

RJnomore1 · 16/11/2020 22:09

The councils really really do not want more closures. It’s costing us a fortune too, I think some english councils are on the verge of bankruptcy. And we see and work with people on the ground and carry their worries.

That’s why some of our chief execs wrote to the Scottish government last week. It’s entirely a Holyrood decision.

littlbrowndog · 16/11/2020 22:10

Wouldbegood

Yep

Try having your own business

It sucks

Do your best. Then sorry. Sadly sadly

ssd · 16/11/2020 22:10

I don't think there's any secure state funded job now? Dh works for the council and he's been told his job is vulnerable. I'm in retail and very vulnerable.

Bytheloch · 16/11/2020 22:11

@weegiemum it’s only advisory not to travel, nothing illegal and if for your partner’s work that’s still allowed between tiers (even on T4 if it’s essential to travel between authorities) Hope it’s all ok for youSmile

I do think it’s easy to forget what’s law, mandatory, advisory etc. Mask wearing outside for example, hasn’t even been popped in as advisory (or has it and I missed that?) yet so many more people wearing them outside.
Travel restrictions can’t be policed so could never really be enforced. Maybe a car full of people could be pulled over...though even then, on what grounds?

WouldBeGood · 16/11/2020 22:12

I’m not saying the councils do. But it’s teachers and others in secure employment who want more restrictions and closures. Not teacher bashing, but it’s a fact that you can be more relaxed if you’re not going to have no income and lots of debt.

WouldBeGood · 16/11/2020 22:13

Exactly @littlbrowndog. And look at the effort and expense small businesses have put in to comply and earn a crust. It’s a disgrace.

RJnomore1 · 16/11/2020 22:14

There is very little evidence of spread in primary schools.

Secondary schools are a different matter. They had a chance to do blended learning and maybe even fix the fucked up education system at the time. The schools were set for it. Then what was it, two days before summer holidays? SG shit on them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

WouldBeGood · 16/11/2020 22:15

“Blended learning” isn’t a thing.

littlbrowndog · 16/11/2020 22:15

But rjnomore

Business feel powerless while every single Day sturgeon goes on the telly with more threats and shows no empathy at all or understanding to business going under

And still no clear data as to why rates are rising and exactly how they are rising and where in the community they are rising

Does SG not get this data ?

RJnomore1 · 16/11/2020 22:15

Oh sorry I am with you now!

Massive tension between councils as employers and teachers yeah. I’m corporate I think council iykwim.

RJnomore1 · 16/11/2020 22:16

@littlbrowndog god knows what sturgeon gets, I’ve got no defence for the SG.

I think teachers just want to be safe. They want yo work, but in a much safer environment. It's safer in retail where you spend like max 10 minutes with a customer than it is being a teacher in a room full of students.
