In my (not massive) primary school 8 staff caught covid in Sept. 2 still off. 1 I dont know history. But 1 is my pal and is young gym goer v v healthy type. Not been in hosp but is v unwell at home no idea when she will be back fulltime. Others have shaken it off after a couple of days and been back as soon as enforced isolation up, even working from home during it.

I really think we need level 4. Even if its main purpose is to make people realise. Cos right now people.i see every day are on August level behaviour

RaraRachael · 16/11/2020 23:00

I'm currently in tier 1.5 but if Aberdeenshire goes up to 3, we will probably go to 2 as we border if Confused.
No EIS ballot on strikes again- just another survey on Covid conditions that hardly anybody can access.
Will she make the big announcement tomorrow or will JS the harbinger of doom be wheeled out?
Miserable in Moray

Bytheloch · 16/11/2020 23:03

Scunnered in 1/3 of the population Scotland.

Also some cheery thoughts, what goes up must come down...I’d like to believe...so who’ll get the first tier zero (still finding it ridiculous to say thatConfused) and when?

Possums4evr · 16/11/2020 23:26

Eis survey did have a question on industrial action, they are a way off a strike ballot yet. No need for that just make schools safer, or lock down for a few weeks in tier 4. There must be something better than the current shitstorm!

Bikingbear · 16/11/2020 23:36

@ssd

I'd back striking teachers. They've been hung out to dry.
Me too and every small business who's been closed for Tier 4 should be supporting them too.

There is no point in having businesses closed to reduce spread when schools are open.
We saw what happened with the Uni students, it ripped through them like wild fire. What's the difference between 18, 19, 20 year olds at Uni and 15, 16, 17 year olds at school???
Common sense says it has to be ripping through them too. BTW I don't think 15,16, 17yos should need babysat.

Me too!!!

Callisto1 · 16/11/2020 23:47

Well @Bikingbear the students often live in halls and shared accommodation so probably get infected in their homes rather than the few in person contact hours they have.
Not saying schools are somehow 100% safe, just that it's a very different set-up.

Bikingbear · 17/11/2020 02:01

Callisto ok I'll accept that it's gone through the students because of halls and being in close proximity to one another.
But how can anyone argue that its unsafe for students to be in lectures and tutorials and argue at the same time that its safe for students to be in classrooms. It just doesn't make sense.

think a lot of the Scottish Government have no idea how hard it is to keep going when you’re not in a secure state funded job*
This in spades
Most of SG have never had a proper job in their lives never mind their own business
A lot of businesses are hanging on by a thread and further restrictions will kill them off And the SG don't seem to care 2 hoots

Galacticat · 17/11/2020 06:04

Hello!
I've just found this thread.
I'm in Ayrshire, I think we will be T4 soon but not this week. I saw a mention buried within the main news that they were keeping an eye on us and we may be a cause for concern.
I live in a small town, around 4000 people and Covid is affecting alot of families here. We are hearing of more and more people having to isolate and I personally know two people who have died in the last few weeks.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 17/11/2020 06:18

does anyone have a copy of the leaked document with which areas could be put into tier 4 etc?

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 17/11/2020 06:21

and does it say if any areas will be bumped up to level 3 etc?

runningpink · 17/11/2020 06:48

@Iwillneverbesatisfied if you go to the previous thread there was a photo of the leaked document I think. No idea what page but nearer the end of the thread I think

runningpink · 17/11/2020 06:53

I am dreading today’s announcement. I think we will stay level 2 or even go to 3.

I can’t cope with Edinburgh staying 3 for much longer or even worse going to 4, most of my friends live there so I’m not really seeing anyone which I’m really struggling with. I live alone which also doesn’t help.

N265 · 17/11/2020 07:33

Long time lurker on previous thread. I feel broken, I've been wfh since March with no sign of that changing. Lockdown 1 was ok, I felt it was making a difference, but now I think we've just been lied to. Even in L3 which was bad, there was some 'life'. L4 is existence in the depth of winter. I know I'm lucky to have a job but it's so hard. Dreading today, been up since 4 worrying.

WhiskyForChristmas · 17/11/2020 08:05

We are definitely going into 4 (Greater Glasgow). I have next week off so that is probably my fault for daring to think about going to an isolated cottage and hiking up some munros. Obviously not going to happen now.

titsbumfannythelot · 17/11/2020 08:05

I know what you mean @N265 life is just an existence just now.

I was trying to remember the last time I cuddled my sister yesterday and I couldn't 😢

Let's see what gets said today, I'm trying not to get too wound up about it because it will make me even more miserable and nobody needs that!

anon444877 · 17/11/2020 08:28

I hope we don't get the 'I know it's hard but keep at it, we are winning' motivational talk. Virtual hugs to everyone hanging in there.

Sisters, what are they? One of mine has already posted Christmas presents as she's given up hope of seeing us in the flesh.

Bikingbear · 17/11/2020 08:47

I just can't get why SG are so keen to ignore the police, NHS and the councils. And now they are upsetting the teachers.

Where is the science behind all this or is it a political move?

And yes I feel like I barely exist. I've been using Christmas as a focus and what to share my kids excitement with family. I'm hoping the bold Boris (with many weans) will overrule Nikla and allow Christmas to happen.

IwishIwasyoda · 17/11/2020 08:53

No longer watch the briefings as find them unbearable patronising ... I have been treated like an infant long enough... BUT was anything mentioned about whether hospitals are actually on the verge of being overwhelmed (or not) with evidence, comparing this year with the past three years or something similar.

RaspberryCoulis · 17/11/2020 08:54

As soon as Rishi announced that there was money for furlough she was going to do this. No question.

Our local high street - and we're in a prosperous area - is struggling. Many of the small independent businesses won't come back from this. Furlough helps with the staff wages, but not the rent and the rest of the bills.

Totally and utterly shit.

anon444877 · 17/11/2020 09:29

Furlough plus vaccines - doubt we'll see anything courageous on the freedom and personal choice front this side of 2021

Callisto1 · 17/11/2020 10:20

I've had a look at the English numbers last night and even with more stuff shut there they have stabilised but not dropped. It's kinda depressing.

Maybe it'll get better with one more week or maybe we'll have to get used to the idea of some school closures. The vaccine data is the only thing that gives me hope that sometime in the future things can go a bit more normal. It's already been over a year since I've seen my mum 😔

Christmasbiscuit · 17/11/2020 10:24

Dreading today's news Sad in an area that will definitely go up to 4.
