At this time of year hospitals are busy. It's just that they obviously need to keep positive covid cases separate so taking longer etc to check in.
DH is SAS. Obviously not all hospitals are the same and I don't think he's been to the glasgow SG for a while. He has been busier lately but some of that is due to not being able to take as many patients at a time. He has seen spare capacity in acute wards which is normally unheard of. What he finds most heartbreaking is the stories of some of the patients have about not being able to see their husbands and wives in care homes, he's seen some with hands pressed against windows and one last week who hasn't seen her husband since March and its looking like one or other is likely to die before they do. Just because they say that care homes are allowed to have less restrictions, doesn't mean that the reality is that they do.
Most of these people would rather have a few weeks together rather than months apart and dying alone. He's heard of someone booking themselves into a carehome (private) even though they technically don't need it, just to be with their husband.
