@ssd

Numbers are still rising as people are being dicks. I see it all the time at work and in the city centre. People aren't social distancing when taking masks off, they are getting lackadaisical. They think it won't happen to them. Sure, my neighbours sister had it bad but she's fine now.... Everyone knows someone who had it but unless it's been in their house they don't take it seriously. I see it at work all the time, staff standing next to others and chatting. As for managers, jesus wept.

But this is just a West of Scotland thing? No dicks anywhere else? Here we go again.

Swinney apparently said today it was spreading in shops, hospitality and rule-breaking home visits. So coincidentally the things they're shutting. Why not give us numbers of those being infected in shops? How would they even know, as you're not generally in contact with someone in a shop for 15 minutes?

littlbrowndog · 15/11/2020 21:47

But why ssd. I know you and your family had it so the questions below

The question is always why are the numbers rising. ?

To say people are being dicks doesn’t answer any question ?

It’s also the questions SG are not answering

Are we all just weary.?

Or is it something else ?

dementedpixie · 15/11/2020 21:48

I wish they'd give more info about exactly where its spreading as there is a distinct lack of clarity about it

WouldBeGood · 15/11/2020 21:50

In shops?

I’d like to see actual figures for all this.

littlbrowndog · 15/11/2020 21:50

Wouldn’t we all !!

WouldBeGood · 15/11/2020 21:52

Why is it so opaque?

WouldBeGood · 15/11/2020 21:53

And how the fuck would you get it in a shop?

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/11/2020 21:54

Ah yes, people in shops, that was a category we forgot. Funnily enough shops were open all summer and the numbers kept going down....

The reason the numbers are going up is that we are testing more people. Cases are those who require hospital treatment. But we still don't have any accurate information on how many of those are in hospital because of covid rather than just with a positive test (which may not be accurate in the first place), so it's hard to judge. This is the time of year for a rise in respiratory illnesses in susceptible people.

Yes, the risk is not zero for those without underlying health conditions, but it's really low, and more likely to die from heart disease etc which we are not doing any testing for.

Do you think that if they were actually worried they wouldn't have the standby by hospital open?

It's mad, it's not because people aren't doing what they are told. It's now like trying to contain the common cold. But the narrative is to blame the general public to detract from systemic failures to actually make progress during the summer. We've gone from people being angry that the NHS is underfunded to blaming people for getting ill. Does my head in.

ssd · 15/11/2020 21:56

Yes, I think people are weary, they're too used to it by now, it's stopped really scaring them as they know people who've had it but recovered. I don't know what else it could be, apart from schools and uni accommodation.

WouldBeGood · 15/11/2020 21:57

I agree with all you say @WaxOnFeckOff.

So why are they doing this?

dementedpixie · 15/11/2020 21:57

We need to all stop licking the trolley handles 😝

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 15/11/2020 21:58

@WouldBeGood

Why is it so opaque?

Because it's a virus, and most of the people who have it don't know they have it, and the government HAVEN'T A CLUE where it's spreading but they can't admit that.

Plus folk are clearly furious to be in the same tier as Glasgow, etc, so rather than put them down they'll put us up.

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/11/2020 21:59

We should be in a position at this point where we have the facility to deal with people who are vulnerable or need/want to shield and for the rest of the population to assess the risk to them and their family and to be properly supported with actions they need to take.

People could then be going about their business in a sensible manner.

That might involve some form of online learning for children who require it which could possibly be provided by teaching staff who also need to shield for whatever reason.

I dunno, we should be a different place really 8 months down the line.

dementedpixie · 15/11/2020 22:00

This shows the cases age groups in the last 7 days. Age 25-64 have the vast majority of cases

November Lockdown: Mibbes Aye Mibbes Naw
WouldBeGood · 15/11/2020 22:00

Yes. We should. Nothing was done in the previously lockdown to prepare.

And now we suffer and get the blame

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/11/2020 22:01

Plus folk are clearly furious to be in the same tier as Glasgow, etc, so rather than put them down they'll put us up.

I think they will put us all up as they'll find some excuse to do so. I'm not unconvinced the extra testing in Stirling at the moment isn't purely just to get the number count higher so they can justify the increase.

WouldBeGood · 15/11/2020 22:01

@dementedpixie so a huge huge majority won’t need care or be very ill

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/11/2020 22:02

not cases @dementedpixie, positive tests. Most of these people wont even feel unwell or have mild symptoms - why are we even counting them?

littlbrowndog · 15/11/2020 22:03

Yeah wax. To all that you say.

But still we get the threats and no,actual strategy.

And ok I will stop licking the trolley handles 👏👏😂😂😂😂😂

ssd · 15/11/2020 22:04

I know of clusters of staff in shops getting it, its not really spread in shops from customers to staff. And staff are getting it as they stand too close together and chat, or sit too close together at break time.... Everywhere has sd measures in place but staff aren't following it.

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/11/2020 22:09

We aren't following WHO guidelines, we aren't doing what other countries who've done better have done. We are listening to a bunch of folk that really don't seem to have a clue regardless of their qualifications.

There is a very large group in the middle between covid deniers and those who just want to shut up the country and through away the key.

ssd · 15/11/2020 22:12

I think we don't have the same trust in the government other countries have, hence people don't want to follow the guidelines as they don't really believe in them.

littlbrowndog · 15/11/2020 22:14

But how do you know this ssd. ?

Where are the numbers. And if it so why are SG not closing down the stores. As they must be seeing this same cluster of outbreaks in stores surely ?

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 15/11/2020 22:14

@WaxOnFeckOff

not cases *@dementedpixie*, positive tests. Most of these people wont even feel unwell or have mild symptoms - why are we even counting them?

I've said that before. I wonder if it'll become a 2 step diagnosis thing in the future, where you need symptoms and a positive test to count as having had it. Although asymptomatic people can spread it so maybe not. Confused

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 15/11/2020 22:16

So workplaces then, not shops, as such.
