October lockdown?

Hi
I can’t see another thread on this and I think it’s more Scotland than general CV related.

Any thoughts on this? I’m a teacher and there’s been no word at work but I’m hoping to go away for a week in half term (west coast) and really really hoping lockdown doesn’t happen! Selfish I know, but we need a break!

Anyone got any views on the likelihood?

Sad I'm just so frazzled.

AgentCooper · 05/10/2020 17:19

@ClarencesMum

Long term SNP/Indy/Nicola fan here but I'm done. How dare she and her band of muppets treat us like this? Drip feeding threats, changes and plans to us like we are all fucking numpties. She was at it two weeks ago, and now again. Fuck right off. I have no respect for her any more. She stands their like some fucking president on a daily basis threatening us if we dinnae behave.

"I know it's not easy". Aye sure you do hen, how about tackling your beloved Glasgow and their rates and let the rest of us life without being under your thumb constantly.

Where does this end?

Absolute cunt of a government. I'm so done with them.

Absolutely @ClarencesMum
ClarencesMum · 05/10/2020 17:21

I feel so bad for the students. It is a ridiculous situation. Nicola hates having to go first and with our term times being earlier she has been forced to make decisions without following someone else's lead and adding a bit.

Every move is political, to say otherwise is bonkers.

Now you can give them ideas... the one with the most votes wins!

Give me fuckong strength

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/10/2020 18:36

I said weeks ago that if cases rose it would always be our fault for not washing our hands properly or sanitizing properly or not wearing masks or distancing enough or whatever the flavour of the week was.

I just can't get past that 6 months down the line, still the only strategy seems to be to keep folk locked up.

5 deaths this week of people "with covid", 6 months in and we still have no idea of how many have died "from" covid, No-one is allowed in someone else's house, my DC were not allowed to attend their uncles funeral, we had to sit there in masks not allowed to hug anyone, including the widow who was supposed to stand by herself...

It's like something out of a dystopian novel.

Damned right that people are fed up and compliance is going to reduce.

The testing results are shite to boot and are another scare tactic.

aquamarine1 · 05/10/2020 18:43

Completely agree @WaxOnFeckOff - a joke now.

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/10/2020 18:47

@ClarencesMum

It would help if we could tell which ones were the ones they suggested and which ones the GP suggested. You can probably tell by clicking in to them all but there are loads and many with ambiguous titles.

Essentially it looks like colouring in/busy work as I'm sure that it will only be their suggestions that will be taken forward anyway.

I might take the time to go through all 74 (so far) and add some votes for anything that actually makes sense - i suspect it won't be many.

dementedpixie · 05/10/2020 18:51

I had to have a socially distanced visit to my mum on her birthday today. Sat outside, didnt hug, didnt go in for food and cake. Just glad it stayed dry

RaraRachael · 05/10/2020 18:51

Thank you WaxOnFeckOff and ClarencesMum you have summed up perfectly how I feel. I'm glad more and more people have had enough of all this shite. When I dared to say I'd had enough a couple of weeks ago, I was told that I should have more concern for the nation's health.

I am normally an upbeat person, but today I haven't had a great day at school kids CAN NOT listen to or carry out instructions and to come home to veiled threats of circuit breakers or other such wankery has really affected me.

Ooh look I'm in charge - I know fine what I'm going to do but I'm not going to tell you because I love being so powerful - whatever London does, I'm going to make my citizens suffer all the more.

Completely and utterly fed up Angry

Here's a wee gem, I think they believe that 1984 is an ideas manual:

Covid enforcers
Use the unemployed and pay minimum wage to enforce covid rules. Backed by the police force and scot gov. 6 month rolling contracts.
Why the contribution is important
Rules of covid for the public are not being adhered to. There needs to be more feet on the streets to help scot gov and police force to clamp down on those spreading the virus.

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/10/2020 19:10

I started going through them and voting/commenting on some that reflected my views. I might do some more tomorrow.

One thinks that we should use carrot not stick and provide rewards to people for doing good things and following the rules.... Hmm

Thing is it'll end up with half wanting us all to stay in our houses wearing masks and the other half wanting to end all the restriction other than for those who want them.

Bytheloch · 05/10/2020 19:44

Oh @WaxOnFeckOff that funeral😞
widow standing on her own really goes through me, it’s so inhuman.

I’ve just been on the public health dashboard to check my area again and as expected still no high cases recorded, so if anyone wants to try locking those areas down other than the densely populated city with high cases, I’m afraid they might have to shout loudly for compliance.
Travel ban? What for? To take our no cases elsewhere? I’d like to support the private sector and hospitality industry this half term, all whilst mask wearing and using common sense. They’ve paid taxes to support our education system which our children have benefited from in this first term back, so the least we can do is support them through where we ‘holiday’ (read: day trips) this October. I’m planning to day trip across the boundary too to give thanks back to the other taxpayers of furlough, before NS and the junior finance minister whinge on about that on behalf of Scotland again.
Not in my name anymore, I’m done with supporting this game play.

soloula · 05/10/2020 19:49

I think the public dashboard is preemptive of more strict local measures and they'll use the figures as justification

AgentCooper · 05/10/2020 19:56

Jesus wept. Some folk have such a hard on for rules and control. Weirdos.
WaxOnFeckOff · 05/10/2020 19:58

We didn't allow that to happen. We and she are in very low incidence areas - bubbles were invented. But according to the rules, that what they expect. Seats were all spread out in 2s and 3s, the place completely did their best to make it as normal as possible but as you can imagine, there were a few wet masks and people trying to blow their noses underneath masks, my DSs were unable to attend as we have a large family and 20 was reached very quickly. I really don't see how 30 would make any difference, there was enough room to include another 10 with no compromise on space and some were unable to come to the after event so there would have still been around 20 there if we'd had 30 at the service.

It must have been appalling for those who were limited to 6 (or whatever it was)

WouldBeGood · 05/10/2020 19:58

If they shut hospitality here I’ll go to England instead 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve been obedient but enough is enough.

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/10/2020 20:01

Jesus wept. Some folk have such a hard on for rules and control. Weirdos.

And notice the language about "use the unemployed" so clearly they have no choice in his world. They are just things to be used and chucked a pittance for probably putting their safety on the line. They've to go and tell folk off for not wearing their mask properly or standing in a group of 7 or like me, going for a walk with 2 friends - which is apparently fine if we are carrying guns?

Slightlybrwnbanana · 05/10/2020 20:20

That's a really long way to go for a pint Grin
Ecosse · 05/10/2020 20:41

I strongly suspect Sturgeon is going to be in for problems when she condemns thousands of hospitality staff to the unemployment queue.

Many bars and restaurants have already faced a hammer blow with being shut for months and then the 10pm curfew. Lots simply will not be able to reopen.

But it course COVID is now the only thing that matters.

titsbumfannythelot · 05/10/2020 21:25

Oh to be treated like an adult who could make their own assessment of risk.

This is just a distraction from the uni fuck up in my book.

Hopefully people will remember this next May, unless they cancel due to bastard Covid 🤯🤬

ClarencesMum · 05/10/2020 21:35

I wouldnae joke tits that will be the next thing.

MumofHunter · 05/10/2020 21:36

Out of interest, how would you vote for to be FM? Promise not being snarky, just wondering what people's thoughts are as know a few have written similar.

MumofHunter · 05/10/2020 21:36
  • who even!
titsbumfannythelot · 05/10/2020 21:40

Nobody, I'm politically homeless right now.

It doesn't matter who I'd vote for though, most people voted for this. So that's what we're all being subjected to.

ClarencesMum · 05/10/2020 21:40

I've no idea. Tommy Sheridan feels like a good option right now.

In all seriousness I'm SNP for a purpose, Independence, then my preference would be a strong Labour party, but that's never going to happen. John Smith would be my ideal FM.
