Looking for a house near to Stirling - no idea what areas to consider!

Any help very gratefully received.

We'd like 4 beds, large rooms if possible (or potential to knock rooms through, maybe extend).

Has to be semi-rural, no close neighbours, ideally a converted steading or similar.

Don't mind a bit of doing-up, but really don't want to rip things out that I hate but are seen as 'features' by estate agents (Aga, wood burning stoves, that sort of thing).

Ideally within 20 minutes or so of Stirling University.

I've checked Dunblane, Bridge of Allan, Auchterarder, Dollar - not sure where else I should look as I suspect the place I want maybe won't have an actual town name if that makes sense.

Thank you Smile.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 30/04/2015 20:18

It's not like he was a mature looking kid either, he was just like a wee boy.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 30/04/2015 20:19

not that I am condoning that behaviour if they look older, but you know what I mean...

dementedma · 30/04/2015 20:20

I live near Kinross and commute to Stirling cross country, scenic drive. Takes about 30 minutes. Kinross High is a good state secondary. Wallace High in Stirling is also good.
Stirling is a great wee place. I am thinking about moving there in the future. Dd2 is at the uni and has a great little flat in central Stirling near the castle.

Mrsjayy · 30/04/2015 20:22

Yeah some boys that age look like men he doesnt, op sorry to derail your thread

StoorieHoose · 30/04/2015 21:15

Oi! You cheeky buggers I'm originally from Denny while it is a shite hole its my shite hole ;)
full of hair dressers, takeaways , pubs and neds

If I could move anywhere local I would head out Blairdrummond, Kippen, way I think

Good luck with your house hunt

Mrsjayy · 30/04/2015 21:17

OneMagnumisneverenough · 30/04/2015 21:20

Sorry stoorie my DH was a stay at home dad when we lived in Denny - can you imagine the scandal at toddlers!! Wink

StoorieHoose · 30/04/2015 21:22

Hehehe MrsJayy it has gone down hill over the last 20 odd years, basically left to rot by Falkirk Council and used to house the undesirables that they didn't want in Falkirk. new town centre might help pick it back up again

StoorieHoose · 30/04/2015 21:23

Aye Magnum it's not the most open minded of places ;).

Mrsjayy · 30/04/2015 21:27

Its a shame it was run down tbh i used to go to Mathiesons the bakers for my lunch i worked in the nursery not sure if its still there.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 30/04/2015 21:28

used to house the undesirables that they didn't want in Falkirk my DH had a similar issue with his Borders village and them keeping the riff raff out of Peebles. His family were riff raff enough for a small village :o

Some folks were lovely but a lot didn't want to be seen speaking to him - maybe in case their man thought something was going on over the water play table...

Mrsjayy · 30/04/2015 21:29

We used to get the kids from the day nursery wee souls was a shame for some of them

OneMagnumisneverenough · 30/04/2015 21:30

My eldest went the nursery from Sept 03 to Easter 04. He was the Jigsaw king :)

Mrsjayy · 30/04/2015 21:34
