Partner going away with attractive 22 year old girl. Is it a bit weird or am I just being jealous/insecure.

Just that really! For context he’s 43, and self employed so it’s a work trip that he’s organised himself. It’s long haul and they will be away for a few weeks. She works for him at his house everyday mon-Fri, they are set up in his dining room. Desks next to eachother. We don’t live together.

The whole thing is making me feel a bit weird but I’m not sure why! I know if I try to talk to him about it it will just go round in circles and will just result in me feeling like a terrible person/jealous insecure girlfriend. He sees the trip as essential to the business, I don’t want to be accused of being unsupportive as I do support him massively.

just wondered how others would potentially feel about this situation? Am I being an absolute areshole girlfriend?

Really pleased for you OP. I know it will be an adjustment and painful bits, but you know who you are and it's been good to see you start to recognise that you deserve more. Best of luck to you Flowers

👍

TheOnlyWayIsIlford · 21/09/2026 17:04

Well done, OP, great stuff.

Re-group, spend time with your kids, build yourself up, and hold out for what you deserve.

Easilyforgotten · 21/09/2026 18:34

Well done OP, you have been very brave. If you ever wobble, just re read this thread and remember why you have made this decision.
Onwards and upwards to better things!

fatsausages · 21/09/2026 19:53

Well done, it's now time to put yourself and kids first, you don't need an overweight, vaping, hairy, tiny 🍆, skinny jean wearing cheater .

Take time to build yourself up, get to know yourself again, and when the time is right I'm sure someone that deserves you will come along.

You've done the hard work , good luck 🤞

TheChickenRun · 21/09/2026 23:59

Good job OP

These things are rarely easy but hopefully the relief will set in very soon and then it’s just a matter of allowing the freedom to become established in your life.

believeinbelieve · 22/09/2026 11:36

Well done OP 💐

Onward and upward! Enjoy your freedom!!

Haddit · 22/09/2026 18:41

Well done 👏 And don’t look back xx

cheeseandhamtoastie42 · 25/09/2026 14:55

Very relieved. His reaction to me ending it and his behaviour since has absolutely made me realise I’m doing the right thing.

Well, there’s a surprise! Well done op.

Onwards and upwards!

Ocean67 · 25/09/2026 15:23

Best of luck going forward op, it’ can be so hard ending relationships when you have a partner that gaslights you and undermines you.
you deserve so much better xxx

Dontlletmedownbruce · 25/09/2026 15:30

Didn't read update so just deleted my irrelevant post now. MN won't let me delete or leave a blank! Good luck OP

SoBoredOfSelfDoubtHowToGetOut · 25/09/2026 15:33

He has double standards? Has gaslit you in the past? Why are you with him?

Dery · 25/09/2026 15:37

Great news that you've ended it, OP! It will take some getting used to but you're so much better off without this guy in your life. Wishing you a lovely weekend as you embark on your new, free life!

Sodthesystem · 25/09/2026 15:38

Glad you are out op. Be aware he will probably try to tell your friends and family you are crazy or some shit. Just keep a neutral expression and go “Crazy? …no, just done with his bs really. Life is too short to spend with jerks”.
Or
“He said what? Well that’s weird. I just wanted out because he wasn’t treating me right”.

Then change the subject as if he’s the most non interesting person in the world.
He wants to create drama and he wants to see you acting flustered with people so they think there might be truth to what he is saying. You can break up with anyone for any reason that you want, it’s your prerogative.

Oh dear. How did he take it OP?

Dontbesonosy · 27/09/2026 08:43

Brava!

Elboob · 27/09/2026 16:26

Wow good on you @cheeseandhamtoastie42 I hope you get over him really quickly.

cheeseandhamtoastie42 · 28/09/2026 22:15

He was really angry. Shouted at me and stormed out. Did the whole “after everything I’ve done for you” then radio silence. This was in public he caused a right scene! He messaged yesterday, I’ve not even opened the message.

Because of how weird he is/was at maintaining a completely separate life we have zero mutual friends/acquaintances so hopefully I won’t hear much of the smear campaign. Not my first rodeo with narcissists so I know what to expect and how to deal with it. Just so annoyed with myself that I fell for it AGAIN!

Well done. Stay strong. Reread this thread if any doubts creep in at any stage.

grinandslothit · 29/09/2026 01:55

So glad that he is out and gone. Hopefully he scurried away like the rat he is and stay gone

Madamecholetsbonnet · 29/09/2026 06:33

Well done. I would block him now.

TheChickenRun · 29/09/2026 07:01

So glad for you. I wonder if it’ll ever dawn on him that “after so much” you’d done for him, your separate lives mean walking away is not the great loss he thinks.

Also, no “smear campaign” for a woman his friends and family knew nothing about. Rb be what’s eating him up — who can he complain to now??

ParrotPeach · 29/09/2026 08:20

Edit: nevermind!

Yupstillhere · 29/09/2026 23:11

He has shown his true colours, what a dick head.

Yes frustrating and upsetting her was a waste of time, not always easy to spot the idiots. Don't give yourself a hard time about that. He was charming I'm sure. Well done.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/09/2026 07:15

Glad you have reliesed better off without him
