I know it’s the last thing on your mind, but I just wanted to say that 36 is so young! I didn’t have my first (of three) until then, having left a shit marriage years before. You have everything to look forward to once you’ve got over this hump, whether that is a life of blissful singledom or another marriage/partnership - or a veritable array of hot lovers! You have everything to look forward to xx

i think what we are seeing here is the precursor to the extinction burst.

In the past his abuse of the OP has always led to him getting what he wants. He demands and she caves. But now it isnt working and he isnt seeing that she has no reason to cave any more, because he left her. In the past she did it to keep a happy (ish) home for the kids but now there is nothing forcing her hand.

So he demands again, in a louder voice. Still no. And so on, which is why holding the line is so important. Giving in out of exhaustion or guilt simply shows him that if he goes on long enough, he will get what he wants. What @mummy917 is dealing with is basically a toddler who wants ice cream before dinner.

I suspect it will culminate in him totally losing it, calling her a selfish fucking bitch because she wont do anything for him. A proper full on tantrum.

Good job, Pyongyang. You called it perfectly. 👏

OP you say local nursery and childminders are quite full, just wanted to mention another option to maybe check out, which is Ofsted Registered Nannies.

If they are Ofsted registered, then as far as I'm aware you can still claim the UC childcare help.

A nanny may work out quite reasonable in terms of you having four dcs!

You could check with UC if it's a form of childcare they can help with fees towards, and look into if there are any locally. It's always good to know ALL of your options in terms of back up childcare.

PyongyangKipperbang · 27/07/2026 00:40

Hmmmmm....I really dont think that I am the only person thinking that "stop messaging, this conversation is done" would be a rather nice thing to ping back at him now.

I am not am I?

Lostpassporthelp · 27/07/2026 05:32

I really hope Twattoo kept it civil last night (you said he’d have to message you about bringing the children back) and isn’t too Twattoo-ish when you see him this morning. I hope you have a lovely day with your boy and have lots of snuggles tonight with the little ones.

mummy917 · 27/07/2026 06:53

He messaged saying girl twin had vomited again last night so she will also be with me today. I was quite shocked as she’s been okay since Thursday. Currently waiting for them coming home.

Is he coming at 7am or 10am ?

sorry she is still poorly and I’ve watched since thread one and check every day for your updates.

you are the mum I wish I was when going through a shitty divorce. My ex broke me with his pettiness's I didn’t alway put my kids first like you do (ie I wouldn’t have given potty or mattresses) and I admire you so much for your composure and common sense approach and I wish I’d been more like you have been. (15 years ago now so water under the bridge) - but what you to know you’re smashing it.

Tilluna · 27/07/2026 06:59

I’m sorry to hear Girl Twin is unwell and I hope she is better soon.

mummy917 · 27/07/2026 07:06

Thank you, however @Shouldbeworkingnotreadingtalk it really hasn’t been an easy thing to do at times, so please don’t beat yourself up. When you’re in a position where someone is constantly dragging you down, it’s so difficult to be even civil towards them. My ex has broken me several times over with not only the situation in general, but with his constant name calling towards me and the way he speaks to me overall.

I’m hoping she’s on the mend today, she’s been vomiting on and off now for 6 days. He’s coming anywhere from now but I haven’t actually been told a time 🤬 I just know he will probably drop them off before he takes the other 2 little ones to nursery.

Oh no… 🤦‍♀️

Well, my guess is Daddy’s not so great with the hand hygiene, touch points etc., so it’s come back round again when their body was depleted…

Was it not possible to respond with, “oh that’s unfortunate, see you at 10am”?

You need to sort your uniform… 😬

Friday is my uniform day 🤣 he needs to pick his work colleague up this morning apparently. In his “broken” car. Let’s hope they actually make it to work 🙄🤣

If his car really is broken I imagine he’s waiting until payday at the end of the month to actually be able to afford the repairs 😂

I’m still vaguely suspicious that it even happened. I’d ask her. I wouldn’t put it past him to lie, knowing that this means OP will have to keep her home until she goes back to work.

As my husband says. when it comes to terrible things, If you can think of it, someone has done it.

ladylioness · 27/07/2026 07:47

I thought you told him not till 10 as you were going into work? Please tell me you haven’t let him bully you again.

mummy917 · 27/07/2026 07:50

No Friday is when I’m going into work for my smaller uniform but I just told him I was going to work, didn’t say what for. He said today was when he needed to pick his colleague up on the way into work, so that’s his reason (excuse) for today. He still isn’t here yet though so I can only assume he’s taking the other 2 into nursery before he drops our eldest and girl twin home.

Yes, as she was sick again last night, it means she cannot go into nursery today or tomorrow now. I would really like to think he hasn’t stooped as low as to lie about it, just to feel like he’s getting one over on me.

OP posts:
PrizedPickledPopcorn · 27/07/2026 07:57

This would be one of the rare times when I’d say that from tomorrow you could risk sending her in if you need to, assuming she’s been fine on your time. But you’ll see how she is when she arrives.

He’s already told the nursery so they wouldn’t allow her to go back in before the 48 hours anyway. She seems absolutely fine now though, no temp, no more sickness (yet at least) and she’s asked for some breakfast. Our eldest also seems back to his normal self now too ☺️

Is girl twin old enough to be able to tell you if she actually had been sick? Sounds suspicious to me

She wouldn’t be able to tell me if she’d been sick specifically last night, she just knows that she has been sick at some point while at her dad’s house. I don’t want to ask her though, I don’t want it to seem like I’m quizzing them as I know how I’d feel if their dad ever did the same.

OP posts:
Lostpassporthelp · 27/07/2026 08:33

Glad they are home safely and I hope you didn’t have to engage with Twattoo. It’s a shame you can’t have a 1 on 1 day with your son but hopefully you can still do something fun ☺️

It’ll be another day of potty training and probably spending it in the garden. I need them to be near a toilet ideally 🫣

I suspect girl twin hasn’t been sick at all - in the same way that his car isn’t “sick” either.

Oh sorry, my mistake! Ahh… the work colleague lift in a broken car….

Hopefully, they’ll all be better, and not being sick, very soon!!

Lizchapman · 27/07/2026 08:52

It does seem a most strange car ailment which only prevents him from taking four children to cricket but then necessitates an early Friday drop off - suddenly fine when he needs to bring children to you then take colleague to work 🤨
