Thank you @Sodthesystem - this is a classic!

Was it written in an attic?

😂😂

I had some free time and I’m trying to be more creative.

Hopefully this’ll give you a laugh.

A getting ready song for your night out haha.

It turned out quite well I think, sorta Lilly Allen-y.

Hopefully the link works :)

That's fantastic!

Wokeuptired · 08/07/2026 20:14

That's brilliant, I hope it brings joy to the op xx

TheScreen · 08/07/2026 20:16

@Sodthesystem that is AMAZING!!! 🤩🤩🤩 and so funny too.

OP can make it her new anthem.

OP I hope you manage some time with your friends.

You are bound to feel all unsettled today, it's to be expected. He's had them overnight before this hasn't he. They will be fine and you can try and do a nice mix of rest and "stuff" and if you have feelings, feel them and then let them pass naturally. We have to work through unfortunately but you will get there in the end.

Oh and well done replying so succinctly to his ridiculous request, and then not responding to his barbed reply. This is definitely the way to go with him communication wise.

That is absolutely tremendous!

OP I know you'll have lots of mixed emotions for a while but OMG I am absolutely in awe of how well you're doing. You really are an inspiration.

Tilluna · 08/07/2026 20:52

I said upthread I like your style@Sodthesystem. Today I’m in awe. You should be on prescription!
As someone who’s been around long enough for DC and DGC, likely older than your MiL, I’d do exactly what isn’t so easy with children in tow. I’d promptly close the front door behind me and spend lots of leisurely hours outdoors, get out into nature, proven to be so good for the soul.
If you don’t want to go for a long walk just for the sake of it, use PlantNet to identify as many wild flowers as poss. (The groups I belong to set a target and there’s no reason why you can’t have one.) IDing gives the walk a purpose and can distract the mind. You’ll see changes in seasons and hopefully relax into the rhythm of life.
Plus it’s heart warming how many dog walkers stop to chat, engage and brighten the day.
Your four walls can stir memories, can imprison you. Turn your back on them OP, hide your tears with some sunnies, pass them off as hay fever, get a bronzy (not easy for Twatress with his colouring), enjoy the dawn chorus (Merlin app), the light nights (sunsets) while outside. Obsidentify is another valuable app. Fresh air and freedom await.
There We Are Then comes over as tense and antagonistic, not absolutely fine imo.

Right. I’m off to listen to @Sodthesystem again. I have an ear worm now! x

BEAchDays2 · 08/07/2026 20:53

@Sodthesystem that is wild. I absolutely love it, completely obsessed!! I really hope OP gets to hear this. What an anthem!

Sodthesystem · 08/07/2026 21:00

Haha I do actually have music online for streaming (I’ve been doing it for a few months now as I made a New Year’s resolution to be creative this year) but I thought probably better not link that to mumsnet lol. Hense the random vocaroo link to listen to it.

Plus (although the song probably could apply to many peoples experience these days) it was written with op in mind so it didn’t seem right to put it on a streaming site.

But it’s good to know the style goes down well for future songs :)
I’ve got it all saved on files so I can use it for inspirations.
It is not remotely a money maker haha the costs far outweigh the gains but, it’s nice to be doing something creative after years of saying I would. And to be able to share it.

BeKhakiReader · 08/07/2026 21:04

What a brilliant song! Wow!

I’m adopting There We Are Then into my vocabulary.

Hope you’ve been up to going out, OP XX

cheer you during such a difficult time. Also hope you managed to see your friends and have a nice evening.

I am imagining there will be quite a few of us adopting There We Are Then. I have a brother in law it would suit quite well from time to time!🤣

@mummy917

Oh this!

Safe, when used to the chemicals, can feel, frankly, boring. It’ll take a while for the brain to rewire.

Have you been through this, what does happen while are rewiring? So far I’ve noticed my eczema (which usually goes insane in the heat) has all but gone, I haven’t had an anxiety dream for weeks, I sleep better (I mean I still wake up to pee and because I’m too hot but my brain isn’t just whirring all the time). It’s still a bit strange it’s only been a few weeks so mine finally left, it feels a bit like I was in prison but now I’m free and can do what ever I want.

This is just awesome! I hope it makes OP laugh, especially whenever she’s feeling sad over what should have been.

Sodthesystem · 08/07/2026 21:12

Ops going to come back from her night out like, wtf has been going on here?! xD

Tilluna · 08/07/2026 21:18

I’ll tell you what the fuck’s been going on here @Sodthesystem - a lot of admiration for your talent, how well you’ve hit so many points made by OP, a lot of fun, a lot of laughter and a wonderful anthem to dislodge and replace her mind chatter.
You’re a genius!

Wolffie17 · 08/07/2026 21:26

For me it was the same, I am not in prison anymore but......that felt scary. The freedom was scary. I have always likened it to being an animal that was bred in captivity but was then released into the wild. The freedom was wonderful but having to learn about a whole new world was really hard.

Glad you’re doing better! Your immune system, and general gut health, is doing better by the sounds of it. The stress suppresses it, we often eat differently too, it’s all connected.

Learning to relax is really helpful. It signals to threat brain that it can stand down effectively, otherwise it remains scanning for danger.

mummy917 · 08/07/2026 21:53

And thank you to the rest of you too for cheering me up ☺️ I did go out and like normal you were all right and it did me the world of good! I did have some tears and wobbled a bit but it was definitely better than sitting in the house by myself! I came back to lots of replies on the thread and have read them all (I think 🤣). Had 2 glasses of Prosecco so hoping I sleep well tonight!

I am still having dreams about him and wake up feeling anxious but not coupled with the sadness I felt at the start of this when I’d get around 2 hours sleep and wake up in a panic because of everything that was happening, and on top of that I’d have had an awful vivid dream about it too.

@mummy917 when you are having a wobble have a read of some of your posts on this thread and that should shake you out of it pretty quickly , going back to work and getting some routine back into your life will also help . I’m glad you had a good night and hope the nursery graduation goes well 💐
