bluedabadeedabadoo · 07/01/2026 23:11

The Rules:
-The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating -Develop a thick skin
-Do not invest emotionally too soon
-It’s all BS until it actually happens
-Trust your gut instinct
-People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault
-Know your worth
-If it's not fun, stop
-Loo update is mandatory
-No dating the thread
-Treat others as you'd like to be treated
-Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with
-The things you choose to ignore/ tolerate now are the reasons you will break up in the future
-OLD can get very time consuming. Keep doing other activities you enjoy

Optional: Please give your irons (potential dates you are talking to) nicknames like Mr Scottish. Initials are allowed (Mr S) when you are an item*

@Andsoitsover that’s a good idea. I will initiate a casual conversation about it on our next date. If he owns it we can have a chat about it all but if he makes out he’s not talking to others, major red flag. I do have a date with someone else lined up in a couple of weeks but that was arranged before I even met the other one (who I’ll call Mr IT). It’s on an app where you don’t message beforehand so I’ve never spoken to the 2nd one.

Nosdacariad · 12/01/2026 21:12

Mr Narnia has arranged and confirmed date 2.

@elleinthewoods just tagging you in the new thread

Thanks! Hope it's all going well for everyone 😊

Mirculously Mr RedFlagParade is still around, but we have a different dynamic now, where we bake together, cuddle, take naps together, I go to his games, he rings for long phone calls occasionally etc. Feels more like touchy-feely best friends than 'dating'.

To be fair that's how my relationships with guys usually go so can't say I'm surprised!

Not actively looking to meet anyone but will be doing plenty of things next few months so here's hoping!

On another note, Mr StTropez defo not gay, after months of correspondence he said he hopes he doesn't mind me saying he thinks I'm 'so incredibly sexy' haha

I read something about your going travelling with Mr Nomad?!

Is that breeze? I’ve only ever been offered one date on that app but on a further glance decided it wasn’t for me but I am intrigued!

@bluedabadeedabadoo yes it is breeze. If I make it to this date it will be my first breeze date as a couple of others either I cancelled or they did. It’s kind of exciting to meet someone who is a real mystery man! Happy to report back on how it all goes. :)

Yup, Mr Nomad wants me to travel around South East Asia with him mid this year. Ideally for a month (although I don’t have enough leave for that). Not committing to anything yet, firstly because we’ve never spent longer than a weekend together! Having said that, I’m flying down on Thursday to stay with him for 5 days so we will see how that goes.

Wow so Mr St Tropez is straight after all!!

BoxOfCats · 12/01/2026 23:23

@ElleintheWoods What happened with your visit to Mr Volleyball’s city?

PinkNeonSign · 12/01/2026 23:37

Hi everyone, great to read your updates, I’ve been missing you all!

I’ve not had a brilliant start to 2026, called it off with MrMaths, I could feel him pulling away and if I hadn’t done it, he said he would have done so I guess it was a mutual decision.

Unsurprisingly I’ve not heard much from Mr Elusive since I caved and answered his late night booty call on New Year’s Day. I wonder whether I will again or whether we’ve closed that loop.

Mr Engineer still messages every day as he has since October but never makes a move. I need to quit him but by now I’m attached.

I was meant to go on a date last weekend but the guy went weird with his messages mid week, impatient, not making sense etc he called me out for not chatting to him much on Thursday (I’ve got two kids to look after and a full time job) so I called it off, cue 20 messages off about how I’d got it all wrong, urgh.

Feel like it’s been a few months of activity, lots of dates, a couple of flings and a penpal. I dunno if I’m just a bit fatigued with it all and maybe need a break. I’ve a couple of other irons , been chatting with one tonight who looks really handsome but we’ll see.

Nosdacariad · 13/01/2026 08:22

@BoxOfCats so excited for your trip away.

@PinkNeonSign maybe a break is a good idea?

@Polly1979 on breeze how do you know you want to meet them? I mean how do you screen?

Well Boat Man is lovely. So lovely that I broke my rule and I'm doing the walk of shame for the first time in over a decade. My poor little lonely cat!

Awww. So good! Life’s too short not to break a rule once in a while!

Well why not just enjoy it for what it is if you are both happy with that (which is my moto at the minute!)

My cat is not happy with me either. He had to spend quite a few nights outside lately due to my "loose morals" 😜 Luckily, he is semi-feral and knows how to look after himself. My third date with Mr AC basically lasted four days.
Enjoy the lovely Boat Man and don't worry about the rules!! Or cats!

It’s 2026! As long as no one is getting hurt there doesn’t need to be any rules 😊

Amen.
Although, personally, I gave up on rules somewhere around 2007 after dating a man for six weeks before having sex and then discovering that he had..erm...incompatible anatomical features. This was the first and last time I had to say "I have to work early tomorrow" to get out of taking a man home 😁

Polly1979 · 13/01/2026 19:07

@Nosdacariad they have profiles pretty similar to other apps but you only get around 7 new profiles a day, at 7pm. Once you’ve been through them you have to wait until the following evening for more! As it doesn’t have the same volume of users as the main apps I think the quality of the profiles is lower but there’s the odd good one. You get fewer matches too as the stakes are higher - if you match you have to meet! Well, you can cancel but risk getting a temporary ban (has already happened to me!)

Oohh I’ve a really matched with someone today. Just waiting for them to confirm the date 😊

you tend to find that you get more profiles who live outside of a reasonable travelling distance I find so have to turn many down due to that.

Thanks @Polly1979 sounds annoying!

@Andsoitsover excessively modest equipment?!

I once bottled out of sex because of the opposite "problem"

But well done everyone 😁

Haha, yes. I love your description. He will forever be known as "near sex experience".

@Polly1979have you been on any dates with Breeze?

OP posts:
Polly1979 · 13/01/2026 20:32

@bluedabadeedabadoo no, this will be my first one. I have had a few matches but a couple I changed my mind and cancelled and another one deleted his profile. Good news about your date! I matched a while ago but we had many calendar clashes unfortunately so it’s taking a long time to come round.

Mines actually tomorrow so this is very much on a whim!

I’ve never heard of Breeze before MN so I had a look but unfortunately they don’t yet offer any date venues within 20 miles of my town. Has anyone else found that?
