Hi all,
Please can I get thoughts on this. I’m moving jobs in the next few months and will be spending 3 nights at my partners every fortnight ? He wants what would be a monthly rental ? Is this fair ? Thoughts please ?

You could likely get a hotel cheaper for 6 nights per month than the £750 he wants to charge you. Laughable. Ditch him, what a prick.

TwistedWonder · 03/06/2025 22:17

Tell him to fuck off. You’re better off staying in the nearest Premier Inn and getting the all you can eat breakfast.

£750 a month for 6 nights!! He’s a greedy tight arsed twat.

Id say you bringing food and wine, paying for a meal out - that sort of thing is reasonable.

After that stunt he’d be an ex

£750. He had a tenant who left so I’d say it’s to replace the money there..

What!!!??? Get this guy to fuck!!

Does he ever stay at yours??

Ninkynonkpinkyponks · 03/06/2025 22:18

No fucking way.

i used to sleep at my boyfriends 3-4 nights a week, every single week. Would have laughed if he wanted to charge me

That is fucking ridiculous! He can do one.

alcoholnightmare · 03/06/2025 22:20

£750 is totally ridiculous. Get a hotel three nights a week and split the cost of dinners out.

Yeah and I wouldn’t dream of charging him. He gets the odd bit of milk or bread nothing over that tbh..

Good lord. No way. So 6 nights a month? He just can’t be bothered to rent out the other room or doesn’t want to and thinks this way he can have his cake and eat it too. Just the fact he has come up with the idea and isn’t mortally embarrassed, does not suggest he’s a keeper.

Vaxtable · 03/06/2025 22:21

nope wouldn’t be happening. I would tell him to find a new tenant and b nd b or air bnb for work

he’s being greedy and it’s not an attractive trait. I would be reviewing the relationship

alcoholnightmare · 03/06/2025 22:21

Or an Airbnb 3 nights a week, then you can both share meal costs and cooking.
he’s either hugely unintelligent or trying it on

For six days a month!?

In some areas you could rent a 3 bed house for that...

Maybe a hotel might be better value? At least someone would clean up after you!

BatchCookBabe · 03/06/2025 22:22

Did anyone think (when they saw the thread title) that the amount the partner was going to be asking for was about £150 a month? 😆(She is only staying 6 nights a month after all......)

Still a cheek to even ask that, but £750 a month? Whaaaaaaaa? Shock

Ava55 · 03/06/2025 22:23

CharlotteSometimes1 · 03/06/2025 21:53

Would you be paying for this or would work?

I would be

TwistedWonder · 03/06/2025 22:23

Is this the sane guy you made a thread about that’s constantly ogling younger women?

Why are you wasting your life with this prick?

Copperoliverbear · 03/06/2025 22:23

I would end it with him I hate tight people and if I didn’t want to go to the job close to him I would look for a new job

No just no.

Get an air b n b - your own space, no expectation and you can unwind

Absolutely not!!

That's absolute daylight robbery. Get shut of him.

Toohardtofindaproperusername · 03/06/2025 22:26

Un believable

What a nobber he is.

Nope on all levels. Tell him to fuck off and find someone who’s less of a tight-fisted chancer @Ava55

Promo981 · 03/06/2025 22:32

Do you ever stay over at each other's homes now? If so, how does that work financially?
This is slightly mental.

AuntMarch · 03/06/2025 22:33

How can he possibly think it's ok to charge a full rent for less than a week out of the month. It's so off the mark it's funny. What did he expect you to do the other 24 days?!

I think that would be the end though. I couldn't stay with someone that willing to take the piss out of me like that!

Endofyear · 03/06/2025 22:34

I wouldn't pay him a penny and I would dump him immediately.

That was my first thought but it's so ridiculous, who would even think to make it up?!

GravyBoatWars · 03/06/2025 22:34

Would your staying there somehow keep him from getting another lodger?

Assuming no, that's a silly amount of rent for 6 nights per month. Either you asked and he doesn't want you taking this job while relying on staying at his place or he's a grubber.
