Hi all, probably a stupid question to ask but I found a pair of women's stockings in our laundry basket at home today. OH is away for work trip and my heart sank. I've sent photo asking what they are and who they belong to and he's not replied . I'm not imagining things right ?

Well, he got away with that then!

Just needs to put stockings on once in a while, and he can carry on his affair.

Well considering it was years ago, the stockings were a size 20 (he does like slim women and the chances of him sleeping with a size 20 are extremely slim), there was also a big suitcase full of other things he’d brought, I’m pretty sure 😂 He was more concerned I’d judge him, but it’s not something I have an issue with.

Not all men cheat. Some genuinely love their partners and aren’t interested in taking the risk when it comes to losing the woman they love and would struggle to live without.

Size 20, they’re not another woman’s. Nor was the suitcase under the bed. Just a fetish, one I’m okay with. He was mortified when I found underwear 12 sizes above mine. All different sizes as he hasn’t got a clue when it comes to woman’s underwear.

Not all men cheat. Some men love their partners enough not to want to go anywhere else.

If it helps, when I was living alone I had a random shoe turn up. One single, flat lady-shoe, not my size.
I messaged my cat-sitter saying 'Hi Cinderella'. She messaged me back in confusion. Not hers.
Turns out it must have been kleptomaniac cat who'd brought it home. I never did find the owner.

Some times weird shit does just happen.

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 04/03/2025 13:22

Is there any possibility that they could be yours?
Sounds mad but this did happen to me. A bra that I didn’t recognise turned up deep in a pocket of DH suitcase. First thought - affair, but it was a brand that is very popular in my home country and not in the U.K. so the only other person it could have belonged to would have been my cousin who lived abroad and definitely not the owner. I finally remembered it was mine, but I’d not had it long, it was pretty unremarkable and I’d forgotten about it. I must have shoved it in the bag with dirty laundry on a previous trip. Could that have happened here?
I suppose the next question is, is this something you could expect of your husband? I had zero reason to apart from random bra reappearing - sports bra too so hardly the kind you’d hope to find on your affair partner.

My mum also found a pair of men’s glasses in her handbag once. No idea whose they were or where they came from.

WhySoManySocks · 04/03/2025 14:02

I went to the swimming pool with the kids last week, and when I unpacked my bag afterwards, there was an extra pair of men’s boxers inside. Thankfully DH is not suspicious.

CerealPosterHere · 04/03/2025 14:10

Maybe it is innocent. I've found a man's expensive (SmartWool) ski/hiking sock in my laundry bin. Just the one. It's not mine, dh says it's not his. Neither of us have ever seen it before. I am not shagging someone and brought his sock home, don't think dh is either.

A joke, presumably.

He's just replied he doesn't know where they've come from and started talking about other random things. He's back home in a few days, I've gone from missing him when he left this morning to resenting him now. I feel so stupid

My ex did a lot of outdoors work. So in winter he would often wear tights under his workwear to keep warmer.

Galatine · 04/03/2025 15:40

BurglarAndSwag · 03/03/2025 16:59

They have probably just been discarded in the wrong bin.
I know I've chucked all mine out, so many High Street banks have closed their branches now there is little or no use for them.

Quite right. There's no money in armed robbery these days!

I think people on here are very naive to think they’ve been hanging around from guests at Christmas or the hotel is grubby enough to have left over stockings from previous guests. Previous tenants? Are people living in a pig sty?

The most obvious answer is usually the right one. He’s shagging around.

TBF, I once found a pair of knickers tucked down the side of a window seat a good year after moving into a flat. Must have belonged to one of the previous tenants. I also dropped something in a friend's bathroom and when I went to pick it up I found about a million barbies under the bath. Friend had been living there for ages but had obviously never looked (or cleaned 😂) under the bath.

socks1107 · 04/03/2025 17:07

Have you got step children? For two or three months I was finding women's knickers in my washing that weren't mine.
They were my sc mothers - sc was planting them there in a bid to split us up I assume. ( married six years by that point, together much longer and I wasn't the ow so all a bit random!)

Crikey, yes!

There’s women on here who stay with men when he’s waving a 100 red flags in here face.

Absolutely fucking deranged 🤣

I missed this one yesterday... I can only assume that @jeeekers Was taking the piss 🥴

DaisyDukesAuntie · 04/03/2025 19:20

I wouldn't assume the stockings aren't his because of the size.....they are quite stretchy (my ex was into wearing tights, stockings, ladies clothes and underwear and they didn't fit him but he squeezed into them 😳)

2catsandhappy · 05/03/2025 03:38

Are they fancy silky ones ? Hold ups or suspender type? Maybe he is using them for the erotic feel in private. Could be embarassed about it.
Have you looked around for the packaging @AmyRoger ? Under the bed, his wardrobe, the recycling bin?

Stifledlife · 05/03/2025 07:22

Imbusytodaysorry · 04/03/2025 09:29

What was the letter about?

It was just an offer if they came to stay again. Nothing really. It was his reaction, and blustering that gave the game away.

Normally I would have just thrown it away but my spidey senses were tingling

Horses7 · 17/03/2025 07:08

Would like an update please OP - hope it’s an innocent explanation.

@Holdups123
This thread is 9 months old!
Have you resurrected it just so you can share the information that you wear hold ups?

BaronessBomburst · 09/12/2025 00:22

I've reported the poster. Mumsnet isn't here to provide cheap thrills or pander to men with a fetish.
Maybe try Reddit?

I didn't realise schools had broken up already.

Thank you! I should have been able to work this out, but I had nothing!

If it makes you feel better neither did I, glad you asked 😂

OP, this is all very suspect, sorry you're going through this.
