Is he just not that into me?

Dating for the first time in over 30 years. Been seeing a lovely man for almost six months. He's in Manchester, I'm in London. We see each other most weekends and it's been wonderful. I've fallen in love and the feeling is mutual.

He used to live in London and he said recently that he'd like to catch up with old friends next time he's here since for the last few months he's just been seeing me. I said of course.

He usually stays with me but this weekend he's arranged to stay with friends and is seeing a few people. The thing that I find odd is that he's not going to see me at all. If I was in Manchester, I'd want to see him, even if just for a coffee or a meal. Is that weird or am I being clingy? I

The other element of this is that he's seeing his ex while here. He swears there's no chance of anything untoward happening (they split over a year ago, had a tumultuous two year relationship before that) but he wants to speak to her for some closure as things ended badly between them. I do believe him on this. Is that naive?

I've told him that it hurts that he'll be so close but doesn't want to make the effort to see me. He said he could ring me Sunday and maybe stay here Sunday night, but I don't think he really wants to do that. What does that mean??

I'm so sorry @Tex111 He did sound like the real deal. It's such a shame when these types don't work out - but it's just sometimes the case and we have to let them go. You really did the right thing. He left you confused and insecure. That's no way to live. You've already had enough of that.

I'm sure there'll be someone else eventually. Maybe have a look at your local education college or local sports offerings. David Lloyd has tennis, badmington and padel (which is getting popular) but there are lots of other tennis clubs locally i've found to me. they are quite social. Then there are walkers and ramblers groups too. Painting can be fun or pottery. Those are often quite female based though i've noticed!

apparently running clubs are the new way to find a partner! That's what I've read online. Not that I'd know - I'm married at the moment - but I've read that quite a bit recently! It's exciting OP. He felt like the one but someone else may well take the crown before long and fell much more right. You'll only know when it's happened and realise, oh, yes of course, this is a million times better than previous DP.

Check out Parkrun and Couch to 5K. I think that's what they're called - I hear these are very popular.

If you are serious about getting fit, look at Growingannanas and Caroline Girvan on YouTube. And the Bowflex 3-minute plank for a strong core.

PlopSofa · 15/11/2024 23:40

I can second Caroline Girvan on YouTube. The Iron Series, it’s giving me best legs ive had in years!

going to have to look up Bowflex plank. Sounds awful 😆

PaminaMozart · 16/11/2024 00:28

The Bowflex 3-minute plank is just a series of 30 second plank variations 😉. I've been doing them virtually every day for at least 6 years and my (70 year old) core is very, very strong. Everything is easier with a strong core 😎

HelenInHeels · 16/11/2024 11:12

Definitely better off alone than with a substandard man

@PaminaMozart Ok so I started planking 30 seconds x 4 with 30 second rest in between a few weeks ago, but did it without trainers on. I have bunions and OMFG my big toes were so painful after a few days I couldn’t walk! You are putting all your weight on that big toe joint.

Do you wear trainers? Or maybe no bunions? I’m a victim of fashion, sadly the chickens are coming home roost! 😂

Not sure how to plank without killing my toes.

PlopSofa · 16/11/2024 11:59

And I had a look at it by the way. Looks excellent. Something definitely to strive towards for me.

I already do upper body every day.

Need a core thing so this is great.

With such a strong core can you do Caroline’s 10 min abs video without stopping?

this one kills me!!! Literally!!

@PlopSofa - sorry to hear about your bunion problem. In your trainers shoes I'd go and see a podiatrist. Hopefully they'd have a solution. I don't wear trainers but many people do.

I can do that 10-minute abs workout easily. In fact I do 10-15 minutes abs work as part of most of my daily workouts - in addition to the 3-minute plank. I also often do glute bridges with a 10 kg dumbell on my hips.

I used to get lower back pain but that has completely resolved itself.

How's it going @Tex111 ? I hope he's left you alone
