Who else has to ask permission to put the washing machine on?

We do have solar panels so cheaper to put washing machine on during the day.
When I've got mountains of washing, sometimes i just want to bung it on and try to get through it all. I have to say to DH "I'm putting a wash on this evening so don't have a go at me." He then tells me that it would save money to wait until the day. I understand this but as we have loads of washing at the moment, that's not enough to get it all done before school goes back next week. I've told DH that it's weird and old fashioned for me to have to check with him or ask him to put a wash on like I'm some sort of servant. I said that if he insists that I can't put it on this evening, then he'll have to manage his own washing this week so I can focus on getting mine and the kids done. Honestly, it's like living in the fucking Victorian age in this house sometimes with him being the head of the household.

Do yours in the day and if you don’t have time leave his for the night then say you are just putting his in 😂
I think other mn must be nicer than me because I would tell him to fuck off if he dictated when I could and couldn’t do the washing! If it’s such a problem tell him he can do it all in future.

I’m in the same situation. Even worse, the stupid washing machine has WiFi and links to his phone and sends him an alert when it’s finished, so he knows when I’ve done a load even when he’s at work. Then he makes snide comments.

God almighty! I hope you are OK. Sorry u r living like this

Having just left a control freak after putting up with his shit for 10years!

Run for the fucking hills and don't look back !! My only advise!

Congratulations on finding the strength to leave and your newfound freedom!

He shouldn't be a dick about it, but I do agree with him that its best to do it in the daytime. Just requires a bit of forward planning. I tend to load the washing machine as soon as I get up so that its ticked off my list but then set it on a timer to run 11am and then by the time its done I hang it up on my lunch break with a dehumidifier, so its all getting sorted during daylight hours.

I am not sure solar panels work like that. I think you neither store in a battery or the electric company buys what you produce.

in both cases it doesn’t matter when you wash yoiir clothes

Do yours and the kids washing.

Take his washing, put it in a bag. Do the same with all the rest of his belongings. Put them outside. Put him outside. Tell him to fuck off and not come back.

Lock the door and enjoy the rest of your life without a sulky man-baby.

The end.

Brilliant 😂😂😂

I am in Portugal and we have solar panels for hot water and then battery solar power for electricity throughout the day. I don't think I have seen any that don't have batteries (or at least they are using their solar electricity whenever they want, not just during the day)

I'm in Canada and here it's very common to not opt to have batteries. In our case it would have been about the same price as the panels again.

Our solar panels feed all the power they generate straight into the grid and we just get exactly the same number of KWh of credit as we produce. We can use the electricity whenever we want because we're actually always drawing our electricity from the grid - we just happen to have a little solar power plant on our roof that offsets what we would normally be billed for.

In our location it's normal to generate more electricity than needed in the summer, but hardly anything in the winter, so you end up going into credit in the summer and then using up that credit over the winter. Any extra you just pay for as normal.

If you have loads of panels and end up over producing, compared to your annual consumption, they pay you out each year for the excess that you've contributed to the grid, but then the amount you get paid, per KWh, is pretty crap.
