Help, husband pees all over the floor and gets angry when I point it out!

I'm aware of the male physiology and understand that sometimes things don't go where they should. Do your men pee? Is it your job to clean it up or do they do it?

I am surrounded by boys in my house, I'm trying to teach my kids that it's polite to make sure the toilet is left clean after every use. Got into an argument with husband the other night after he had just used the loo and I went in after him, there was pee all over the floor, I called him on it and he got annoyed at me and said some horrible things and said I treated him like a child! I told him he was disrespectful and how could I teach the boys if this was his attitude. He got annoyed again and stormed off to bed. No, he didn't clean his mess first.

How do I try to communicate that this is not OK. I'm tired of keeping my mouth shut to save arguments. Any help appreciated.

Rub his nose in it! 😆

No seriously that is grim and shows he has no respect for you. He's defensive because you called him out on it, but don't give up. Tell him to sit down if he can't manage to aim properly.

If he refuses I don't know what you can do, apart from leaving it, making a huge fuss or stop doing anything for him (sex, meals etc)

BestZebbie · 25/01/2024 22:16

If he hasn't learned to direct it by that age he needs to sit down - regularly missing the toilet is not usual. Maybe surround the loo with puppy pads until everyone gets the idea?

moggerhanger · 25/01/2024 22:16

Tell him to sit his arse down on the loo. My DH sits (of his own volition) and it saves pissy floors. DS is following suit.

wizzywig · 25/01/2024 22:18

Is he holding his phone with both hands whilst peeing? Ugh!

ArnieLinson · 25/01/2024 22:19

I'm tired of keeping my mouth shut to save arguments.
you ate walking on eggshells because you know he will get angry. Is this the life you want?

if he insists on acting like a disrespectful poorly raised child, then of course treat him like one. Send him back to clean it every time.

Pigeonqueen · 25/01/2024 22:20

That is disgusting. He’s totally wrong. I’m always amazed how many people don’t clean up after themselves in the toilet. My (now ex) mil was dreadful for it. Skidmarks galore. Don’t people check after they’ve been!?

Bootskates · 25/01/2024 22:20

What does he honestly expect you to do? Just quietly clean up his piss for him?

Fuck that.

NoCloudsAllowed · 25/01/2024 22:20

Why would it be your job?

No one likes being called out on something, even/especially if they're in the wrong. That would be why he got defensive. Have a calm chat about it. How would he like it if you smeared period blood everywhere? Would he clean it without mentioning it?

I think everyone should sit, personally! We have squatty potties in front of loos which are good for bowels and also make it harder to wee standing.

Universalsnail · 25/01/2024 22:22

I would start leaving my period blood on the seat and see how he suddenly finds it gross when someone leaves bodily fluids all over the toilet.

But seriously it's disgusting he just left it there after you pointed it out.

Are you happy in this relationship?

Lesina · 25/01/2024 22:23

He is utterly grim. Tell him to grow up and clean up after himself. If he can’t actually point and aim tell him to sit down or use a nappy. Bloody idiot. He is a twat.

hashbrownsandwich · 25/01/2024 22:24

That would make my Fanny clamp shut if he were live. He's a wrong'un.

BruceAndNosh · 25/01/2024 22:24

Use his favourite shirt to soak it up

allmyliesaretrue · 25/01/2024 22:25

I hear you!!!

Maray1967 · 25/01/2024 22:26

Clean it up with one of his t shirts.

I would have gone absolutely ballistic if he’d responded like that. How disgusting. The level of disrespect is unbelievable- he just walked off and left it and had a go at you!!

If he won’t accept he’s done anything
wrong, I can’t see what you can do other than make sure his life is less pleasant until he learns. I’m sure there’s something you do for him that can be stopped.

nandinos · 25/01/2024 22:26

WTF I've lived in shared houses with male housemates/relatives nobody has ever done this. Disgusting.
Bet he somehow magically avoids doing this at work

jay55 · 25/01/2024 22:27

Get angry back, why the fuck should you clean up a grown man's piss?

2Old2Tango · 25/01/2024 22:27

I too would put puppy pads round the toilet to soak up the mess and see if he gets the message. When he complains about them, tell him they're only there for a week or so and after that you'll use his t-shirts to wipe up any spills.

EeesandWhizz · 25/01/2024 22:29

Shit on his pillow.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 25/01/2024 22:30

If he's going to piss like a toddler, he should expect to be treated like one.

DeeCeeCherry · 25/01/2024 22:30

How grim is this! Basically its 'Shut up and clean up my piss'. Yuk. Mr Instantly Unfanciable
So what will you do OP...? It's sad your husband has no self-respect, and no respect for you. To think he's this filthy and actually has the nerve to argue about it. When someone has no shame they're a lost cause.

Unicornsarefab · 25/01/2024 22:31

Thanks for your responses everyone!

I have a coil so don't get peroids or I would seriously consider leaving my blood to make a point!

Anytime I mention anything to him he usually replies with "are you not sick of your own voice" and I tell him I am and I hate repeating myself over and over but he gets stroppy then asks me if the day or night is ruined!

Really unsure how to navigate my way through this.

I'm very much on the fence about wanting to try and resolve things or just call it a day but we have 3 boys together!

Peanutsforthebluetit · 25/01/2024 22:32

If he acts like a child,he gets treated like one !

Use him as an example to your kids of how NOT to pee and explain unfortunately their dad still does it. They’ll hopefully start telling him off too !

justasking111 · 25/01/2024 22:34

Do your three boys pee on the floor like this?

Maybe suggest they teach him how to aim.

cerisepanther73 · 25/01/2024 22:35

It's coming across mumsnet threads like this one

Makes me appreaciate being of single status even more

It would do my head in

Really piss me off big time having to contend with this,
I would just loath it with sheer intensity shame you can't just push his head into the piss stained area of carpet or flooring like they used to do back in the day, to train a pet dog or cat of your household..

NewYearNewCalendar · 25/01/2024 22:36

Oh OP you deserve better than this.

And the future partners of your boys deserve better than this. Because most people, essentially, turn in to a version of their parents. So if their father behaves like this and you accept it, how do they learn that it’s not ok?

He thinks your worth is: cleaning up his urine. You deserve more respect than that.
