I met a guy on online dating. He asked where I lived. I told him my whereabouts. He then responded saying 'lots of ducks to feed there.'
Does anyone knows what he means by this?

I've already bookmarked this thread as it's showing signs of a classic

A whole loaf!

Does anyone actually do that? Have any women on here ever used bread this way?

Won't find no Hovis up my hole that's for sure.

Thank you for your responses.
I'm even much more confused now.
I'm on the spectrum and very literal, so I've spent time researching whether there are really lots of ducks that can be fed where I live (Westminster).

There are some ducks here and there, but they aren't so monumental that they'd be the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks Westminster. Also, we don't feed the ducks - everyone knows that! So, what does this man mean for heaven's sake???

My googling also led me here: www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Feed%20the%20ducks

The above makes me even more confused. Why would he tell me about that? We haven't discussed anything sexual at all?
He seems like a guy I could potentially like. We share commonalities - work and hobbies and he's handsome.

How do I ask him what he implies by that statement? Shall I say 'Do you enjoy feeding ducks? And what kind of ducks do you feed and where in particular do you go feeding ducks because as far as I know this is discouraged as it is detrimental to both the ducks and humans.'

I really need clarity. Dating shouldn't be this hard. Should it? 😅

Are you near a pond?

Well, I'm close to ponds in Green Park, Hyde Park etc... I go through these places regularly and don't really pay attention to the ducks. Are they that much of creatures of interest?

Do you live in a place called Foie Gras?

🤣🤣🤣

JudgeRudy · 04/09/2023 22:39

Is this a reference to 'wanker' - feeding the duck motion...used to refer to a dispised/rubbish football team?
Eg Chelsea? Lots of ducks to feed there (full of wankers)

Katmai · 04/09/2023 22:40

LylaLee · 04/09/2023 22:02

I don't get it.

Aylesbury duck. Google it. Trust me.

LarkLane · 04/09/2023 22:40

Does he mean that there are a lot of wankers in Westminster-meaning politicians?

QuillBill · 04/09/2023 22:40

Do you think he meant pigeons?

IcakethereforeIam · 04/09/2023 22:41

Don't give them bread, it's bad for them.

Is it rhyming slang? Although I hate to think what rhymes with 'duck'.

cluelessbingo · 04/09/2023 22:42

QuillBill · 04/09/2023 22:40

Do you think he meant pigeons?

No, he used the word ducks. He meant ducks.

LunaNorth · 04/09/2023 22:43

Just ask him what he means, in a jokey way.

’Ducks to feed? What does that mean when it’s at home?’

And if it’s pervy, get rid. You don’t want to end up with half a Mother’s Pride up the ol’ wazzoo.

Aylesbury duck. Google it. Trust me.

The Aylesbury duck is a breed of domesticated duck, bred mainly for its meat and appearance.

Is that all?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 04/09/2023 22:44

It could be worse he could have said "lots of dragons & butter flies there pond dipping" 😳😂🤣

cluelessbingo · 04/09/2023 22:44

LarkLane · 04/09/2023 22:40

You may be onto something.
He's liberal. So, perhaps he's sociopolitically aggrieved right now?

OP posts:
nongnangning · 04/09/2023 22:45

Do you think he is messaging someone else too and got his messages mixed up? Like when you text the wrong person? The duck message was for another potential date who lives by a pond? 😂

PimpMyFridge · 04/09/2023 22:45

I'm not on the spectrum as far as I know... Also baffled.
Think I'd reply with a 'huh? Not sure what you mean'

WouldYouLikeYourMuffinButtered · 04/09/2023 22:46

Mothers Pride up the old wazzoo
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hi OP. If you are very literal, then no wonder you are confused. We have come to the conclusion that he is not talking about actual ducks, but that he is making some sort of other reference alluding to something else.

It is like when someone says "That's put the cat among the pigeons". It has nothing to do with actual cats and pigeons - the phrase is used to describe any kind of chaotic situation.

🤮WTAD 🦆 Tell him to keep his stale crumbs to himself.

SisterMichaelsHabit · 04/09/2023 22:49

I have literally just seen this on the Simpsons 10 minutes ago (Disney+). Abe and Smithers were in a park, Marge and Homer thought Abe was gay so set him up on a blind date with Smithers without telling Abe. One of the first things Smithers said to Abe was "lots of ducks to feed here".
It was delivered like it was supposed to be a reference to something then Abe took it literally as they were in a park. So I think there's something more to this than actual ducks.
