Found a mobile in DH's desk draw

I was tidying up DH's home office when I found a mysterious mobile in the draw, I feel devastated. I managed to turn it on but it's got a passcode.

After all the times I've read about this on mumsnet I never thought it would happen to me but when I think about it he has been distant lately, seems distracted and he has been working late popping off to meeting later in the day etc.

DH doesnt know I've found it and he is out at the moment, does anyone have any words of advice or how to go about bringing it up?

Christ, there's a lot of people on here trying to ruin OPs relationship for shits and giggles.

I own both a phone and a tablet for work purposes that I don't think DP has any idea about, they're for testing software on different operating systems, and the phone also doubles as my work phone for calls where I don't want people having my personal number.

@worried2jsb I'd try and forget about this now, you've already shown your husband that you don't trust him, and he's given you the evidence you need in return.

Firstly find out if he’s actually using it. I saw this in a film once and it should work. Pull a small hair from your head and put it over the phone in the drawer. Check it’s still in situ a few days later. You’ll know then if it’s a current one or an old one. Good luck and stay strong.

Are you being serious?

MysteryBelle · 05/06/2023 20:34

So, ask for his passcode to see if he’s unwilling to give it, and the receipt or online banking entry for the date of purchase of phone as he told you it’s brand new, he just bought it, and hasn’t used it properly yet and that’s why it was in the drawer and apparently not used for testing.

Probably. It's a very old trick.

Has he ever mentioned getting the phone? If it was for work surely he would have mentioned it

Sorry it seems a bit off

I don't think anyone wants it to be cheating but when you're been through the experience you notice these signs & it all comes flooding back

MysteryBelle · 05/06/2023 20:50

Miss Marple figures out who the killers and the criminals are. So it’s a compliment to be compared to her character.

On the other hand, some people would rather be known for looking the other way and not wanting to know the truth of a matter. Uninterested, obtuse, lazy, cowardly.

I know which camp I’m in.

JenWillsiam · 05/06/2023 20:24

We already know there’s no history as the message arrives in isolation.

But she's already said she's seen the phone and messages it's part of a work related conversation about picking some stuff up.

Shapemyeyebrows · 05/06/2023 20:55

@worried2jsb He should have just shown you openly in the first place but I think if there’s work messages on there then it’s plausible and I would draw a line under it.

GuinnessBird · 05/06/2023 20:59

This is one batshit thread.

PuddlesPityParty · 05/06/2023 21:02

Why are people still trying to wind the OP up? This is someone’s real life not some stupid soap drama Jesus Christ.

This thread is batshit, the people egging you on to check whatsapp pics, ring random numbers, what exactly can you conclude? If I wasn't trusted to this extent I'd end my marriage to be honest, where there's no trust, there's no marriage. If a man did all this to a woman it'd be controlling, but a woman does this egged on by a group of bored women oh no it's fine, he's obviously up to no good, follow him, get a tracker etc etc 🤪🙄.

100% this!!!

OP get off the thread and enjoy your life xx

i think it's obvious which camp you are in.

intothegreek · 05/06/2023 21:09

If he has auto messages going out he does not want them pinging back to his private number. He's a smart man getting the new phone to deal with these messages otherwise he'd never escape. Sounds feasible to me.

RamblingAroundTheInternet · 05/06/2023 21:22

Did you see the date on the c u tomorrow message OP? Or on any of the other messages?

Did it come through cos you phone switched on or was it sent at that time do you think? How long was phone on for before message came through?

Bit odd about the Asda sim if you haven't got one nearby or near his work. If he runs his own successful business with 200 clients and deducts work related expenses from his tax return why go for a cheapy PAYG contract for client communications 🧐 from an out of town supermarket?

Did he have access to the phone without you there before he showed you the messages?

I can understand why you couldn't keep a lid on it and do some further investigation but I hope you haven't alerted him to cover his tracks (if there are any).

You had quite a visceral reaction to finding this phone and tying it in with how he's acting.

I wouldn't dismiss it just yet.

crosstalk · 05/06/2023 21:30

Just a question - if it's a business phone for IT check use for customers, why is it left at home? I'd also be puzzled if my bounce response was "see you at 5.30" and even if it was, I'd be pissed off that any further contact was zilch because it was in a drawer at my IT provider's home.

Not Dr?

You should have worked harder.

This thread is genuinely batshit. Some people ought to try reading Closer if they want to porn over someone else's relationship.

Why does he need an actual phone for texting reminders to clients?

Isnt that done on a computer?

Not necessarily.
