Stag do in Krakow

Gigitb · 01/06/2023 20:44

DH went on a stag do to Krakow. I trust him or at least I did trust him. Married ten years, two children under three. I was fine with the stag as close friend but his behaviour on said stag do has been well awful.
Contacted once via message to say flight landed / heard nothing after that until the following night, almost 24 hours later, I get a notification at two in the morning his time with the bank informing me that their has been a cash withdrawal of three hundred euro from an ATM.
Why would my husband be lifting that sort of money at that time of night? I get a message this morning with a breezy sorry my phone battery died etc etc. I wrote back sharpish about the withdrawal. Nothing since.
My husband and his friends have always been lads lads but I thought I could trust him.

Why are you automatically thinking the worst?

At that time of night, it could be money for continuing the night out etc. My other half once spent 180 quid on a bottle of vodka at a club. One bottle. The idiot 🤣

Only you know your other half but I wouldn't automatically be writing him off. Also the lack of contact-he's on a stag do.... Again, I can see why you'd be fed up, especially looking after the kids, but not an automatic dumping action for me.

That's not to say my boundaries are your boundaries, that's up to you.

Thanks for the honesty.
Yes, it could just be alcohol but for some reason, I don’t know why, I’m finding hard to believe it is.
Hopefully intuition gone awry.

That would make me extremely suspicious too OP. Extremely. I agree it's poor form not to contact you for 24 hours as well when you've got young kids together. The fact he's gone quiet after you asked about the withdrawal is really suspicious.

Gigitb · 01/06/2023 21:00

And I obviously do not know what the scene is like in Krakow but my mind is wandering!!!

My first thought honestly would be strippers or similar - 2am is a strange time to grab out €300! Did he take a lot of currency with him or plan on using card? If he was planning to use his card all along I'd be wondering why all of a sudden he changed his mind.

It's a weird one - could be absolutely nothing (my DH is generous to a fault and would think nothing of pulling cash out to give to a mate who'd run out or similar) but my spidey senses would probably be very suspicious at it being 2am and cash.

baileys6904 · 01/06/2023 21:02

He was quiet before the question on the withdrawal, and he may just think he's in the dog house for spending so much money, without even realising your fears

OP, try not to worry. Nothing you can do now anyway, and you'll just stress yourself out.

baileys6904 · 01/06/2023 21:03

In krakow, strippers and sex workers are a lot cheaper than a few hundred quid..

Gigitb · 01/06/2023 21:03

Thanks everyone. Yes, such a strange feeling. Just awful really xx

Drugs

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 01/06/2023 21:04

I think contact 24 hours later is fine, don’t make him be the one that’s constantly having to check in and play down what a nice time he’s having.

Bizarre that you automatically assume something is dodgy about the withdrawal too. Obviously it could be lots of things but not all of them are dodgy.

MinimalistMe · 01/06/2023 21:06

I would be very suspicious too, I wouldn't write off your instinct, but do give him a chance to explain first.

rwalker · 01/06/2023 21:10

Food ,taxi ,entrance fees and a few rounds doubt he’d have enough change left for a stripper

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 01/06/2023 21:23

Just got back from Krakow and it's so cheap, so 300 euro would go a long way on alcohol.

There were four of us and we spent £150 each for 5 days, we did get out another £50 each.

Hehx3 · 01/06/2023 22:44

Yes Krakow is quite cheap but it strikes me how he is treating you with this piss poor communication. Its wrong on human to human level and you are his wife and you are a mum of his kids. I don't think I could pass through that nowadays (being old i mean) regardless of the "stripper/not stripper" dilemma. I hope he wakes up in time 🌹

cocunut · 01/06/2023 22:46

OP - I'd think drugs before I thought strippers. Very common on stag dos and he could've taken out the cash for everyone's stash and divvied it up.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 01/06/2023 22:51

Strange to withdraw in euros - unless that's your local currency OP?

Hohofortherobbers · 01/06/2023 22:56

Food and drink is v cheap in krakow, was it for the hotel bill perhaps? Has he got loads of change?

Kimchikeffir · 01/06/2023 22:56

What’s the time difference?

Hohofortherobbers · 01/06/2023 22:57

Yes, why take it out in euros, he'd need zloty in krakow

Kimchikeffir · 01/06/2023 22:58

2 am in Krakow is 1 am in UK

So op must have got notification from bank at 3am where he was.

Kimchikeffir · 01/06/2023 23:01

If OP got Euros and Zlotys mixed up it would only be about £57

Igotjelly · 01/06/2023 23:05

I too wonder about the currency. If it was Zloty that would make it about £57 or 66 Euro.

Frazzledmummy123 · 01/06/2023 23:05

As much as I understand he is away with the lads on a stag do and he doesn't have to be constantly in touch, his communication has been woeful and I wouldn't be happy one bit. Not even so much to do with me, but is he not even asking how the kids are!

When is he home from the stag do? I don't know what to suggest except wait and see what he does from here, and what he replies with about the money. I really hope it is nothing. Maybe one of his mates asked to borrow money when they were out, could be as simple as that.

However, his communication is terrible and I'd not be happy if I were you.

QueefQueen80s · 01/06/2023 23:07

I wouldn't even be with the type of man who had laddy holidays. They're all the same.
