How old were you when you met the father/mother of your children?

Question is in the title really. It feels like until you're 26ish, people say you are too young for children. Then the narrative changes overnight, people ask if you are thinking about it. After 30, your 'clock is ticking'.

It's no one else's business but I can't be the only woman who panics about having left it too late, while not really knowing 100% if I evenn want kids - but worrying that by the time I do, if I do, it will be too late.

We were both 16y when we met.
We had dd when I was 29y and dh was 28y.
We'd been trying for 3 years or so.

16 - but we didn't start a relationship until 8 years later.

Now almost 50, so we're doing OK Smile

I was 27 and married at 29 ,husband was 34 when we married. Children at 30,32 and 37 . I personally think that I was lucky without any fertility problems but looking at the conception board I really think waiting until mid 30s is a risk . I do understand that for some people they have no choice .

23 but we didn’t have children for 10 years after that. Among my friends it’s been anything from 17 to 40.

I was 19. Met him my first night as a medical student - he was a second year science student. We moved in together 3 days later, married after five years, had our first DD six years after that, and our second DD 16 months later.
DH died before her first birthday, but I love him and miss him still, 31 years later.

BramleyAppleHotCrossBun · 11/03/2023 22:49

Met ex at 16. He was 24. It took me until I was in my thirties to understand I was groomed.

I met DH when I was 17, he was 21, and he was a friend of one of ex’s friends. We didn’t get together until I was 20 and he was 24.
