Oh yes Computer Geek was my type (tall, athletic, looked after himself, dark hair) but looking back he was so self centred and vain and that is so unattractive.

So anyone want a tall potbellied gray haired old man with 2 wonky knees and a bad back?

JustAnother0ldMan · 21/10/2021 16:54

Being on a 3 hour call is stupid, at least if it’s teams you can mute yourself and have the radio on

Isitreallyme177 · 21/10/2021 16:58

@JustAnother0ldMan yeah but he was vain and self centred and cheated on his ex he wasn't a nice person. Underneath his pretty boy, 6 pack was a twat.
Naimee87 · 21/10/2021 17:02

@JustAnother0ldMan i could be persuaded but would have to see your driving license! Sorry this call is proving difficult to hold my very naturally very short attention span... clearly as i'm on here rather than concentrating! You do sound like a really decent man. A nice catch! And i really like hearing your perspective on issues that both men and women face.

@Shayelle2009 i'm ok, just been a real 'day-dreamy' day! Where i feel i'm watching myself do things rather than feel like i'm actually doing them. Doesn't help that i've been stuck to my laptop for the day. My dog is giving me the saddest face and pugs already look so depressed. Cannot wait to get out with her for a walk!

@WeWantTheFinestWines was this the one you planned to meet and it just ended up so wet/windy you postponed. Bit of a rubbish excuse being tired. He could follow up i suppose but doesn't give a very good impression of himself really does he.

JustThisLastLittleBit · 21/10/2021 17:04

I had a fucking 7 hour call yesterday which I led (one hour off for lunch), I’ve literally only just recovered 😢

JustThisLastLittleBit · 21/10/2021 17:08

@JustAnother0ldMan tall with at least some hair puts you ahead of the game for a man in his 50s, even more so that you seem to be thoughtful, engaged, witty and in possession of DIY skills. Please don’t put yourself down.

JustAnother0ldMan · 21/10/2021 17:29

@Naimee87
Why DL, have you meet people who are not who they say they are ?

@JustThisLastLittleBit I still have some hair, thinning a bit on top now, but don’t think I’ll need a Bobby Charlton for a while yet !

Naimee87 · 21/10/2021 17:39

@JustAnother0ldMan haha! no because my type are truckers so i'd need to see what licenses you have! I can't date anyone who can't drive (more than a car) i'm afraid... it's a deal-breaker! Any deal-breakers you've got that are slightly bizarre?

@JustThisLastLittleBit woah that tops my 3hr one?? How did your bum survive were you sat down the entire time? I'm literally falling off my chair but we're on camera... Was it all 'home-office' or where you physically in an actual room filled with other people all in the same space again....

JustThisLastLittleBit · 21/10/2021 17:58

@Naimee87 at home in my office with just the dog coming in occasionally to stare balefully at me. It was a nightmare! I do have a really good office chair though, a Herman Miller Aaron (I think). Game changer

WeWantTheFinestWines · 21/10/2021 18:00

Naimee yes, bailed once because of poor weather, bailed again because of being tired... Just as well really, as I don't have time for dating if I also want to keep up with this thread, where I'm always a day or two behind.

Naimee87 · 21/10/2021 18:24

@JustThisLastLittleBit same as me! wish i had a posh swilley chair!

Naimee87 · 21/10/2021 18:24

swivelling*

JustAnother0ldMan · 21/10/2021 18:25

@Naimee87
Ah I see !. No I’ve not got Class 2 or 1, but I passed my test so long ago I can drive upto 7.5 tonnes on my car license
Deal breakers, hmm,
Cannot date in Ipswich Town supporter (obviously)
Couldn’t date anyone who didn’t like Pulp Fiction
But I think any woman with her own full set of full sized of ladders would be a absolute shoe-in.

Naimee87 · 21/10/2021 18:32

@JustAnother0ldMan 7.5tonnes gets you a brownie point or two! You’d like a woman who owns a full set of ladders? this has really made me laugh but i feel i’ve possibly misunderstood.

@WeWantTheFinestWines everytime i feel like a date would be nice the flaky stories put me off! Time is so precious that when you set some aside only for them to bail it just rubbish! Are you off the apps?

Shayelle2009 · 21/10/2021 18:48

Haha @Naimee87 I can just see that little hang dog expression guilting you up!! The pet guilt is real!! My cat’s persian and also has a droopy, miserable face even when smiling lol.. I can see when she looks happy and she has THE cutest face but my neighbours moan about the ‘attitude on it’.. damned cheek lol.

Yeah @JustAnother0ldMan stop doing yourself down, it’s getting boring 😬 Also, I think it’s quite brave that you have stuck around here you clearly want to socialise and integrate and that is a positive too 🙂 stop doing yourself down! 💪

Caramelblonde · 21/10/2021 19:01

@JustAnother0ldMan you're not even old at 52!What are you going to be like at 60?Smile @Isitreallyme177 is Mr Cricket coming to dinner at yours soon?

Isitreallyme177 · 21/10/2021 19:29

@Shayelle2009 my cat has the most expressive eyes, she just has to look at me.

@Caramelblonde who knows, he is away this week, I'm busy all of next weekend, not sure about during the week yet.

VanGoghsDog · 21/10/2021 19:47

@JustAnother0ldMan if you're old at 52, I'm decrepit at 53. And, actually, I'm not!

Shayelle2009 · 21/10/2021 20:11

I have a friend who is 59 yrs old. She has a smoking figure and personality most 20 yr olds would envy!!

JustThisLastLittleBit · 21/10/2021 20:16

I’m 59 on Tuesday. I can’t claim a smoking figure but my main aim in life is to have even more fun than I did in my 20s!

JustAnother0ldMan · 21/10/2021 20:45

@Naimee87
Just a silly joke, doesn’t mean anything
@Shayelle2009
I was going to local chapter of the NCFC supports club, but I’m the only member, but seriously, it fascinating to see how women think (and you think about everything little thing), Although I do feel like some kinda weird voyeur sometimes.

Age is a weird thing, when I was on the apps I was going about 5 years either side so say 46 to about 56, which I thought was fine, but quite of the women I chatted to would quite often comment that they were looking for someone younger, and 50 did seem the magic barrier that a lot of women didn’t seem to want to cross, which I think is stupid as a 48 year old man will be 50 in 2 more years,

Shayelle2009 · 21/10/2021 21:11

This is apps though isn’t it - discriminatory! As in real life you could meet someone you think is incredible ten years older or younger, whereas you set it to 5 years on the apps.

VanGoghsDog · 21/10/2021 21:12

If women, or anyone you're talking to on a dating app, have those sorts of odd barriers it's a good way to weed out people you won't be compatible with.

Hehx3 · 21/10/2021 21:35

Hello, I go 10 yrs up and 2 yrs down, Im late 30's. I think past 30, age gap seems to not make that much difference as most ppl are at similar stages of life (mind you there seems to be loads of guys that are in 40's no children, "dont know" if they want relationship and write about adventures which for me it is just bizarre 😵‍💫). There cant be so much of a difference between 48 and 50 and maybe its good they are removing themselves from the sight I guess.
If you dont mind me asking a questions. Im chatting with a guy lets call him Mr DNA, normal chat, nothing weird, seemed okay. He wanted to go on whats up so i told him that i give out my number after i met someone and as Im going on a date on Saturday and I do not want to multi date that might be after that (as i learnt about flakiness of guys very quickly - nothing seems to be set in stone until it happens). He then wrote that he only talks to 1 person as its cheating and deletes all apps before the date... how likely is that? Cause it raised my eyebrows and a red flag.

Isitreallyme177 · 21/10/2021 21:43

Age is a weird one, I had mine set to 35-45, men in that age group tend to have had kids (and long term relationships) and are still open to a night out clubbing or a festival. However I never matched with many men my age or older. Mr Cricket is the same age as me and we do ever so grown up things like go for coffee. I'm sure he could out club me though 🤣.
