How do I stand up for myself facing my abuser in court

Court case in a few days

I'm so so worried

Yes I have done nothing wrong

He has made it all out to be my fault

He tried to kill me
Hurt my child
Knife to my throat

I'm so used to believing this man and letting him get his way that I have mentally prepared myself for a total and utter shambles ahead of me and to be victim blamed

Why didn't I leave
Why forgive him!!

I caused a lot of these problems by covering up for him

How will I stand up for myself in court and try to tell my story ??!!!?

You have my sympathies op, the court system is a joke. Ive spent the last 18 months waiting to be part in a trial against someone who committed committed a crime years ago too.

There's been so many false starts and adjournments and fucking bullshit that I actually think the courts themselves should be held responsible for traumatising people.

It's one thing to go through something and completely different to have to relive it over and over again years later either in court or in your head because of it. A special kind of torture.

I take consolation from the idea that at least they are probably suffering the same fear though. Which may end up being a bigger punishment than the actual punishment.

Stay strong op! You'll get through it!

Maybe he was back in court over the charges he pleaded guilty to? While those he denied have been put back 18 months. (!!!)

Or maybe he has committed other crimes against other victims? I don't know how you would check, maybe call the court for advice?

Awful

I can see him trapping another innocent female

He is charming in a good job
In there public eye
And very attractive

Few weeks in and he will be abusing her
I said to the CPs this man will go on to kill they nodded at me and said it was not for me to worry about

It is strange that no one knows what the new charges are, perhaps they have added in ones they previously didn't think they would proceed with due to information that came out in the aborted trial. Whatever they are it's good that they are still proceeding to bring evidence forward. You have been so brave going through with it all.

CPs totally overwhelmed and no doubt trying their best

Lots of great people helping me with this so I can't lose hope

Just need to keep going
