I've just been dumped. By text. After 4 years. I can't get my head round it.

That’s rubbish. Flowers

Is it totally out of the blue? Do you want to talk about it?

pearl19 · 14/05/2021 20:29

Happened to me a few weeks ago. Literally nothing worse, it’s so awful. I’m about 5 weeks now and feeling much better. You need to give it time Flowers

LEMtheoriginal · 14/05/2021 20:30

What a weak person to do that

RamonaLark · 14/05/2021 20:32

This thread could be a useful read.

He’s shown you who he is and you’re worth so much more.

LuckyMcDucky · 14/05/2021 20:34

After 4 years Shock?! That is so awful and cowardly of them. So sorry op Flowers. Hope you're ok.

RamonaLark · 14/05/2021 20:34

Just realised I assumed gender, sorry.

MadMadMadamMim · 14/05/2021 20:37

@RamonaLark has posted a link to the thread I was going to suggest.

The woman on it handled things perfectly. I am really sorry, OP. It's utterly unforgivable for someone to behave like this. The least he owed you was a conversation. The tiniest consolation is that he's a mannerless prick and you are well rid.

However, my advice is to not respond in any way. Ever.

tellmetologoffIamaMNaddict · 14/05/2021 20:39

Agree with the above. He/she is a dick. You are worth more. Read the thread (it is a masterclass) and don't respond. I am sorry this happened to you.

navys · 14/05/2021 20:44

It's a he. I feel like I've had a ton of bricks dropped on me from a great height. It's awful.

OP posts:
tellmetologoffIamaMNaddict · 14/05/2021 20:46

(((((((navys))))))) It will be OK. Not for a while but eventually. I am so sorry.

Elieza · 14/05/2021 20:48

Can you be sure it’s him and not his teenaged child or his female ‘friend’ or his mother or someone dumping you by text and he has no knowledge they borrowed his phone?

If it’s him it’s just awful. What a disrespectful cowardly arsehole he is. You are better off without such a ‘man’. Although im sure it doesn’t feel like that just now. Sorry this happened to you. It’s sucks. Big time. Flowers

Adelais · 14/05/2021 20:48

I’m so sorry. What a coward.
Were you living together?

Lollypop701 · 14/05/2021 20:51

He is despicable, and you need to block him on everything right now. There is no discussion point after this he does not deserve the steam off your pi@@. You deserve so much more.

InFiveMins · 14/05/2021 20:55

So sorry OP Flowers. It is really, really shit.

Take each day at a time - in a few weeks, months even - you'll look back and wonder why you were with a spineless, cowardly dickhead like him.

Zealois · 14/05/2021 20:55

I'm so sorry. I've had it done to me and I still remember the physical shock I felt. Sickening.

You deserve so much better, and you'll be okay. Hugs!

SunnySpills · 14/05/2021 20:56

What a rotten trick, was he always so nasty, op?
You need to block him everywhere and start taking care of yourself now.
It must have come as a big shock.
You watch he'll come crawling back. They nearly all do.
Flowers

navys · 14/05/2021 20:58

We'd been arguing a little bit the past few months but nothing major and I thought we were coming out the other side. We don't live together but he was here most nights and I have lots of his stuff here. He was always pretty conflict avoidant but I can't believe he's done it this way after 4 years. I feel sick!

OP posts:
Jesusmaryjosephandthecamel · 14/05/2021 21:00

That’s a cowardly act on his behalf. I’m sorry he’s done that to you. Look after yourself 💐

OldTinHat · 14/05/2021 21:04

I'm so sorry. I've been there too. Please look after yourself, this is so important. Surround yourself with friends and family who will listen kindly. Cry, howl, get it out there. Then deep breath and move on. Don't dwell too long, allow yourself to wail and sob then gather up your dignity and strut your stuff!

UltimateBlends · 14/05/2021 21:06

Please read the recommended thread op, and do read all the "dumped" womans responses and thought processes, she absolutely killed it - no stupid responses required.... her heart was breaking all the way though but she handled it beautifully.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you and sending you huge handholds.

GelfBride · 14/05/2021 21:08

If it's any compensation, I had a four year relationship but moved back in with my parents to nurse my DMum who was dying. 'D'P called to ask me if I wanted to go over for a meal but Mum was really ill at this stage so I said no, I didn't want to leave her. He said if I didn't go over that night to never go at all. I put the phone down on him.

I fetched my things a month or so later and he tried to apologise but I couldn't even look at him. What a cunt. His parents were lovely too so it wasn't his upbringing. Some men are assholes. Some are spectacularly good at being assholes.

navys · 14/05/2021 21:10

My mum is unwell at the moment and she's going back to the hospital on Thursday to find out what's wrong (they're not sure, looking like an autoimmune disease but they haven't ruled out cancer). I'm worried sick. And yet he does this.

OP posts:
DogsSausages · 14/05/2021 21:15

What a coward. Dont respond unless its "sorry but who is this please". How much crap has he left at yours. Sorry about your mum, hope she will be ok, make her and yourself your priorityFlowers

navys · 14/05/2021 21:33

I just don't understand!
