Ex jailed for DV yesterday

I had a short relationship last year that quickly became very abusive in every way. I had suffered serious child abuse and hadn't yet learnt the warning signs.

The last incident was the worst. Toddler in the next room crying and my head being stomped on repeatedly.

7 months later yesterday he was found guilty of ABH with a weapon and assault by battery.
He was sentenced to 15 months in prison and i was granted a 10 year restraining order.

I just wanted to tell you that there is life after DV. I wish you all the very best.

Just so sorry for what you have been through and what strength that must have taken to get to this point.

Wish the animal had got a longer sentence but v glad about the restraining order.

We are doing okay. Myself less and my three year old more.
She never mentions him now. She was just shy of three when it happened. Closer to four now but hadn't mentioned him in months. I know she remembers. I feel awful for that.

When the 999 call was played in court my toddler could clearly be heard saying "I'm scared." Unforgivable.

What the hell is going on in sentencing? I would love a Q&A with a judge over that.

There were two assaults that day. After the first I had managed to get him out of the flat and immediately rung 999 for help. He was trying to break the front door in.

During the call I noticed a rustle behind me and had then realised he had climbed a window into the flat to continue the assault. I was pulled over a child's safety gate by the hair and onto the floor. That's when the stomping happened.

Somehow the call stayed active when knocked from my hands.

I feel lucky. And sad. So sad.

Op your post just made my blood run cold

What a a strong person you are to have gone through that and come out the other side with a conviction and restraining order.

We read so many situations that are like yours and it's not until it's sadly too late that it all comes to light

Take time to heal yourself emotionally op

I don't want to say well done or congratulations as it sounds so wrong but remind yourself every day how far you've come and how it could have ended had you not got the help when you did ThanksThanks

I don’t think he is the father of the toddler HollowTalk. At least you won’t have to ever deal with him again then op, what an awful man, so scary! It’s stuff like this that puts me off dating again.
