I started talking to a guy a week ago and we have a date arranged tomorrow (meal and drinks)
He has been annoying me past couple of days ..I don't know if I'm just being picky.
Some of the things he has said...

I like a woman who makes a effort to impress her man, nice hair, nice nails, always looks her best.
Would you kiss on a first date? Do you think I have nice lips.

Then he went on to say tonight (trying to flirt I think)
What's your plans tomorrow?anything fun(wink face)
So I just replied "washing my hair ha ha"
He replied ...
"Oh you washing that hair to impress me,are you painting your nails too?"

I replied yes ...
Then he replied "are you doing that to impress me"

Then I just mentioned my friend is booked into same restaurant next week and she's asked me to take a couple of pics of the food

He text "oh so your only meeting me to get pics for your friend"
"I bet you will be making a run for it half way through"

Then asking if I'm wearing a dress for him

Is he just too much?
He's irritating me a bit ..
I haven't really dated In years ..is this normal ?

Have done a lot of OLD and guys who speak like this on messaging are inevitably creepy misogynists in person (the type who slag off their exes and have strong ideas about how women should look/behave). If you do cancel, be prepared for some unpleasant messages, most likely saying you're ugly anyway and will be alone forever...

Watchingstars88 · 23/04/2021 10:14

Ugh creepy , don't go on the date OP!

fromdownwest · 23/04/2021 10:19

Sounds like a clingy, desperate, controlling weirdo.

Guiltypleasures001 · 23/04/2021 10:22

He's been reading the Ted Bundy
Book of how to make friends and influence people

RosesandPumpkins · 23/04/2021 10:23

Yep. Boot him. This will only get worse! He sounds insecure, fishing for you to say you’re trying to impress.
And comments on what you wear? He can fuck off.

HowWeAre · 23/04/2021 10:24

That gave me the serious ick, I wouldn’t go. Haven’t OLD in a long time but from experience I’ve found to always trust my gut when it comes to getting bad vibes from guys. You don’t owe him anything even if he is getting his beard trimmed 🙄, there are plenty more guys out there who won’t give you weird vibes before you’ve even met them.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 23/04/2021 10:27

BUTTERCUP, OMG 🤣🤣🤣

CaraherEIL · 23/04/2021 10:38

Listen up Buttercup- don’t go on the date.35 is so not old also if you were 90 this creepy guy is still a bad bet!

HaveringWavering · 23/04/2021 10:39

Have you cancelled yet?

2bazookas · 23/04/2021 10:42

He's steadily fencing you in.

You will look like this ; this is how women should prepare for a date with him., you WILL answer all his questions; you may not make any suggestions he does not approve , or make plans with your existing friends. Any failure to agree or compy with his agenda is going to disrupt his plans and cause trouble.

  Talk about controlling!

  Don't go.
Lilymossflower · 23/04/2021 10:43

Run run run

Joeblack066 · 23/04/2021 10:44

@osbertthesyrianhamster

I wouldn't bother going on this date. FUCK that. Not normal. All that impress me crap, he wasn't telling you what he was going to do to impress YOU. All about how it's your job to impress some guy you don't even know.

I'd be cancelling now. 'YOu know what I'm really not impressed with? A guy who thinks women exist for his benefit, like you, for example. So no date tomorrow. Or ever.

Fabulous!
FuckyouCovid21 · 23/04/2021 10:48

Don't go on the date, if it was me I'd be telling him exactly why too!

Chocaholic9 · 23/04/2021 10:56

No it isn't normal. He's after a sex doll not a woman. Bin him off.

walkigonsuncc · 23/04/2021 10:56

I think he is really insecure.
He text this morning saying I had been quiet was I ditching him.

I just explained I didn't think we were a match and good luck
He has asked for a explanation

I'm keeping my reservation for tonight and going with a friend instead

OP posts:
walkigonsuncc · 23/04/2021 10:56

He said his ex wife cheated and left him

I feel a bit sorry for him in that respect

Embracingthechaos · 23/04/2021 10:56

He sounds like a total dick. I wouldn't go on this date. 35 is young. Don't settle for creepy men like this.

Embracingthechaos · 23/04/2021 10:57

Don't get sucked in. Just ignore him and block him
zaramysaviour · 23/04/2021 11:02

@ThatOtherPoster

Yeah, I’d cancel this. Then it’ll stay just some weird messages you got off a creepy guy once. Not “Tony, who made me flee af midnight to the shelter.”
This is glorious.
Sparklfairy · 23/04/2021 11:02

Plenty of people have been cheated on and dont act like this! It's all manipulation if it's even true

Does the man have no shame to the extent that he would accept a pity date ffs?

Novelusername · 23/04/2021 11:03

Even if he's just been out of the game a long time, his ex-wife cheated and he's got no idea how to talk to women, so what? None of that is your job to fix. I'm glad you've cancelled, you sound like you've got really low self-esteem tbh and are worried about not meeting anyone so are trying to make excuses for any tosser who shows any interest in you. Have fun with your friend and try and work on your self worth.

ShrikeAttack · 23/04/2021 11:03

Past your best? You're in your prime OP!

You do need to sharpen your dick-head radar if you're going to continue OD though. Do not get sucked in by hard-luck stories. Just block him, you don't owe him an explanation.

Enjoy your dinner with your friend.

Oneeyeopen · 23/04/2021 11:08

Gosh, he sounds like a 1970’s throwback.
Perhaps he was raised in the Carry On studios, the secret love child of Sid James and Barbara Windsor!

Chocaholic9 · 23/04/2021 11:08

Now I've read the whole thread just wanted to say I love the answers on this thread so much.

I agree this guy is not remotely nervous, he's cheeky AF. And I'd be wary of taking dating/relationship advice from your friend in the future.
