Is your partner still washing?

My husband seems to think the government has banned washing during lockdown. Because he's not going out he doesn't see the need to shower - he's probably doing it every 4-5 days and I really have to nag him to do it. He's wearing the same clothes for that whole period too Confused I won't let him sleep in the bed unless he's washed so he's sleeping in the spare room as all he wants to do is play video games in there and sleep.

Is this a man thing? I don't want him near me as I keep thinking about how dirty he is!

I had a boyfriend who was a teacher and would get like this in the summer holidays if left unchecked. Grim. DH isn’t in that league but might skip a day if he has nothing on (as of now). I don’t consider myself a weird MN clean freak but I have to shower every night (unless I’m really poorly) in order to feel relaxed.

Wallywobbles · 08/05/2020 20:38

That's a boundary no friend of mines ever crossed much less a partner.

Northernsoullover · 08/05/2020 20:38

I didn't shower yesterday and I really regretted it. I thought what is the point? I'm not going out I've no one to get up close to. By late afternoon I couldn't hack it. Its absolutely manky. I hope he isn't expecting sex.

BitOfFun · 08/05/2020 20:38

Definitely a filthy pig thing. I couldn't put up with it.

searchaway · 08/05/2020 20:39

Yuk. Nope. Not a man thing. A lazy pig thing

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 08/05/2020 20:42

Isn't it a teenage boy thing?

DH does wash every single day, twice today as he mowed the lawn 😂

HaveAtEm · 08/05/2020 20:43

That is utterly, utterly grim! In this heat too! Your husband is disgusting 🤢

Fairenuff · 08/05/2020 20:44

Why would you even think this was a 'man thing'? Confused

Thisismytimetoshine · 08/05/2020 20:46

I came on to say just that, Faire. Seriously, what sort of shitebags must some of you live with?!

NorthernLass75 · 08/05/2020 20:46

Not a man thing.

It just means he doesn’t respect you as much as he respects people he normally encounters in a normal day. He’ll wash for them, but not for you.

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/05/2020 20:46

Uhm, Yes my DH is still showering! Eeew!

BrevilleTron · 08/05/2020 20:48

No my DP has always smelled good why would lockdown change that? You still need to wash!! Is he at least washing his hands?

NothingIsWrong · 08/05/2020 20:48

That's grim. DH still showering every day as am I.

CarolineBingley · 08/05/2020 20:49

Shock gross! that’s not a “man” thing!

Yes, dh showers every day, sometimes twice if he’s done sport.

Thisismytimetoshine · 08/05/2020 20:50

Sleeping in the spare room rather than give himself a belt of a bar of soap is unacceptable, op.

Samtsirch · 08/05/2020 20:51

OP do you think he’s trying to tell you something?
To misquote mumsnet
If he’s telling you, listen to him.😂

Lordamighty · 08/05/2020 20:52

Not a man thing, a lazy and disgusting thing. The one lesson everyone should take from the pandemic is to be more fastidious with personal hygiene, especially hand washing.

Vanillamanilla1 · 08/05/2020 20:53

I haven't showered today but I might go every other day
My ds2 is fucking grim Though he literally has dirt on his neck and has the be reminded to shower . He will literally go weeks and he willl wear the same clothes for days and days and days , I literally frogmarched him to the bathrooom yesterday as he just stunk of pickled onions
What is it with that smell of pickled onions eventually ?
DH doesn't shower daily either , maybe 3 times a week
I'm definitely the cleanest one

Dreamersandwishers · 08/05/2020 20:54

Read this out to my DH & he’s pretty disgusted that anyone would put this down to ‘it’s a man thing’
Unless you live in 1950s Britain with a tin bath in front of the range, then a good wash/ shower every day is a minimum hygiene requirement.
You live with a slob.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/05/2020 20:55

Daily showers here. On non work days during lockdown I can happily loll around in pyjamas until mid afternoon, then have a long bath, but DP showers as soon as he gets up.

Coquohvan · 08/05/2020 20:55

My DH like me has two showers a day morning and bedtime. If we’re going out for a meal (pre corona) we’d shower then as well.
How gross can’t understand anyone not having at least one shower/bath a day.

Lelophants · 08/05/2020 20:56

Not a man thing. My dh hates not being clean! Our dress sense has really gone downhill though. Confused

PrimalLass · 08/05/2020 20:57

Of course

JiltedJohnsJulie · 08/05/2020 20:57

Not here either. DH got up at 5 am this morning to have a shower and then start on some work.

Could your DH be depressed

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 08/05/2020 20:57

Envy that is fucking rank! Not envy!!! We all shower as usual, I have a shower in morning after exercise and at night I have one too.
If I go to my allotment I have a 3rd shower. My DH has at least one shower a day. Might wear the same clothes, but clean pants.
