Haven't seen one of these threads for a while... so.... how did you meet your OH?

Backpacking around Asia. He was the first person I had heard talk about anything vaguely intelligent for a little while and he looked after me two days later when I got sick, despite just having met. Been together a while now and he's brilliant.

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 20/02/2020 17:04

At work, he was 22 and I was 32. Five years later we're expecting a baby and blissfully happy.

thecatneuterer · 20/02/2020 17:04

He worked in my local tyre fitters and I kept getting flat tyres/problem tyres. I think I went there four times in as many weeks (and I wasn't doing it deliberately!). He offered to teach me how to change my own tyre should the need arise ... how could I refuse?

Absoluteunit · 20/02/2020 17:06

bonzo77 · 20/02/2020 17:13

OLD too.

Kanga83 · 20/02/2020 17:21

Internet. I was a uni student and he lived hours away. We got chatting on a random site (not a dating site) and met a couple of months later. Long distance for a few years. Married 12 years now.

firsttimemomx · 20/02/2020 17:22

Instagram when we were 16 & 19! Almost 21 & he's 24 now, engaged with a baby boy due July Smile

drinkingwineoutofamug · 20/02/2020 17:22

At work in a factory. That was 25 years ago

Mochatatts · 20/02/2020 17:28

Secondary school 20 odd years ago. Went out with each other briefly at 15. Then went our separate ways, moved around, had children etc. Last year, having been looking him up on social media for years, I sent a drunk friend request. We met for coffee and have been together since. So happy its untrue lol x

MaisyMary77 · 20/02/2020 17:28

Blind date nearly 26 years ago. 😁

Angie6868 · 20/02/2020 17:30

Justmuddlingalong · 20/02/2020 17:30

OLD, after what felt like a gazillion bad dates for me, I was about to completely give up on the dating scene as I enjoyed being single a lot more the than meeting weird guys Hmm I was his first old and we just clicked, married 3 years now with number 2 on the way

Sucksfake1 · 20/02/2020 17:37

P1 (Mental hospital) both patients. 4 years later married, mentally stable with a gorgeous little boy

Best thing that's ever happened to me.

FthisS · 20/02/2020 17:37

Msn teen chat room age 16 he came in with the username JohnLennon and having never met anyone my age who liked the beatles I got crazy excited. We lived two hours apart but it worked. We are 35 now Smile

happychatty · 20/02/2020 17:38

These are fascinating! Interesting that there are other experiences other than OLD (although it has its place!)

He was put into the wrong A Level class, which I happened to be in. Thankful for that mistake by a school administrator 😊

CalamityJune · 20/02/2020 17:49

OLD.

I'm pleased to see so many OLD replies! There are a lot of people on mumsnet still so reluctant or jaded after a few bad dates but it just shows that it does pay off.

Almost exactly like someone upthread, I was on there for about two years, went on loads of dates, saw a couple of them for repeats. Then all of a sudden up pops this person, seemed worth a look- i was only the second person he met up with on there - and that was that.

MissSmiley · 20/02/2020 17:50

OLD
Exh at work (25 years ago)

Mum4Fergus · 20/02/2020 18:07

Not sure if it counts as OLD, but I 'met' DH on a hook-up site...guess we both got a bit more than we bargained for Grin
