Haven't seen one of these threads for a while... so.... how did you meet your OH?

Plenty of fish! I had been on a few dates (and had one 5 month relationship before) but I was his first. I was actually about to delete the app as it was about to start charging for keeping your profile private. We have been married for 6 years now. I was in a new city where I knew nobody and working in a job where it was highly unlikely to ever meet anyone (romantically) under the age of 80 without dementia!
I usually find some of the comments about online dating on MN quite rude and insulting. It's worked for the majority of people I know. There's weirdos everywhere and I'm lucky to not have encountered that many online. I have several 'real life' weirdo ex's though!

I never got a dick pic though, not sure if I should be offended by that or not 😆!

Hinge, although I did try every dating app going for about 5 years before we met and have some absolute horror stories so you do have to be persistent

We were pen pals back in 1986 and wrote each other for seven years before we met in 1993. We started a long-distance relationship soon after and then I moved to England on a fiancée visa in late 1995. We will be married 24 years on Monday.

Musicaltheatremum · 20/02/2020 21:26

Late husband met him at university....on the stage in the operatic society....my parents met the same way!!. Married a year after I left. Married for 100 days short of 25 years.
Current partner of 18months...Tinder. he was about to give up but I popped up and we hit it off straight away. Blissfully happy again.

litterbird · 20/02/2020 21:26

He was a friend of a friend. He invited me to see him perform at a gig and on the guest list out of the blue. Been together ever since.

Cloudyyy · 20/02/2020 21:29

Working on a bar as uni students to find our studies. Only did a few shifts but ended up meeting my husband working here too. He asked if he could take me for dinner and that was ten years ago now.

macshoto · 20/02/2020 21:29

University reunion / through mutual friends. I was living in Tokyo at the time. We made dating long distance work... married 14 years this year.

Trahira · 20/02/2020 21:30

Met at work - we started at the same company on the same day 24 years ago.

myplateisfullenoughthanks · 20/02/2020 21:30

His best friend lived in the house backing on to ours - he saw me in the bedroom when we were teenagers. A matter of days later we actually met and briefly had a young love relationship. And then we moved away.

Fast forward 35 years, he contacted me on FB not long after my marriage had ended.

We have much history between us and more bad decisions than would be polite to mention. But we have now been back together 8 years and life is good. Should always have been

Riv12345 · 20/02/2020 21:36

Asking directions, me and a friend pretended we were lost!

Then bumped into him at the petrol station, got chatting

Still together just had our 25 year anniversary Smile

CertieCumboyle · 20/02/2020 21:39

I was learning to use a computer and the internet.

PussGirl · 20/02/2020 23:54

On the dancefloor.

TorchesTorches · 21/02/2020 05:10

Through a sports club. It was great as there were slightly more Male teams than female teams, and we had a social night once a month. Lots of couples came about through that!

Kirkman · 21/02/2020 05:47

I met him briefly when I was 17 and he was 20. We worked in the same hotel, different departments. I remember him being incredibly handsome, but looked miserable as sin and was a bit of dick.

Only spoke to him once and saw him about a bit. He left the hotel at some point so did I.

17 years later I was going on a night out with my best friend. She mentioned her brothers marriage had ended and he was moving back to the area and staying with her while he found somewhere to live. I went into her kitchen and her brother was there. We spoke briefly as I left he made a joke and smiled. First time ever, I have stopped in my tracks. My marriage had just ended so I reminded myself I wanted to be single for a while.

Over a few years we became friends then close friends and then a couple. Been together properly 2 years.

6 months after I met him he asked me to look over his CV. We realised we worked in the same hotel. Then I realised he was the handsome but miserable dick from the hotel Grin

Which I told him. He couldnt have been more different from the 20 year old I met. He laughs and admits 'yeah, I was a dick'.
