This is a red flag isn't it? I'm fuming

I have been dating a man who lives close to me for the last couple of months, we are both early 20's. I live at home with parents and he has a flat 10 minutes up the road. He works nights and last night he mentioned he hadn't eaten before work so I offered to drop him some food off from McDonald's at around 10 o'clock as I drive and he doesn't. I turned up with the food and then on my way home I received messages saying I'd got his order wrong and detailing everything I'd got wrong, he'd asked for no ice in his drink and there was ice, I'd got the wrong sauce and his chips were cold. This got my back up as I'd driven all the way there for him and paid for it, so I snapped back that it was ungrateful to be complaining and he messaged back saying 'well, if you got the wrong food served to you in a restaurant and you were looking forward to it you wouldn't be happy would you ? I saw red at this point and responded 'well I'm not a fucking restaurant am i?' You should go yourself next time then. He responded with 'forget it'. I'm seriously considering ending things over this, I'm not being unreasonable and overreacting am I ?

I'd have returned and taken the food off him to eat myself. At least you have found out quite early on what he's like. Move on and find someone more appreciative of kindness.

Mittens030869 · 12/02/2020 15:06

As this thread has taken up enough of my time this morning I kindly ask if you wish to continue to argue your point, please PM me and I can respond without dragging the thread up active convos tomorrow.

The reason this is hilarious is because this poster doesn't realise how ridiculous she sounds. She sounds so much like my DD2 (7) when she's in a strop. My response when she talks like that is to sanction her by deducting £1 off her pocket money. She's doing it rather less often now.

Sadly, some spoiled brats never grow up.

EuroMillionsWinner · 12/02/2020 15:09

So have you already dumped him then? Because only 'seriously considering it' after he's shown himself to be a spoilt twat is worrying.

Just bin! ALWAYS bin the very first time you feel that twinge that you did that made you 'seriously consider' ending it. That's your instinct, trust it always. Every time. That twinge is never 'overreacting' or 'being sensitive', it's your intuition telling you he's a wrong 'un and protecting you.

You owe this person nothing. At the most if you feel like it text him, 'This relationship is no longer working for me so I need to move on. All the best, OPx'

And then you block.

No discussion or engaging with him. You're not deliveroo. He didn't even offer to pay! He's an entitled prick. Get rid.

FamBae · 12/02/2020 15:12

I think it was a very nice kind gesture to get him some food and he acted like a spoilt brat, of course you're not over reacting he most definitely is and I think he has shown his true colours.

Whatisthisfuckery · 12/02/2020 15:27

What a colossal bellend. If you’d got something he was allergic to and not checked, then he’d bitten into it then yeah, I can see why he might then be a bit pissed off, but cold chips? McDs chips either come out cold or they go cold in the following 6 seconds after they were served. He didn’t even have to eat the sauce, which is in a packet ffs, and ice?

Fuck that shit, I’d be dumping that in a second, the ungrateful wanker. You sound like a lovely person OP, you deserve and can do much better than that.

GloriaMumsnet · 12/02/2020 15:28

Hi everyone, can we please remind everyone of our guidelines which state no personal attacks. If you see any of these please report them to MNHQ using the report button. Thanks.

dustibooks · 12/02/2020 15:49

What a charmless git.

Don't even bother giving it any more thinking time. Dumpsville for him.

messolini9 · 12/02/2020 16:16

I am heeding Aunty Gloria & being wise & kind-hearted. O saintly me!
But I'm also having quiet hysterics over some of the petulant pomposity upthread Grin Grin Grin

Nowayorhighway · 12/02/2020 16:26

Gosh, what a peach Hmm. I’d end the relationship, he sounds like a total buffoon.

Branleuse · 12/02/2020 16:48

Im laughing at the idea of mcdonalds giving someones money back after they ordered from the drive through but their chips were cold when they got home

Lweji · 12/02/2020 17:22

Did you put the chips next to the iced drink instead of the warm burger, OP? Shame on you.
You should also have stayed to feed him by mouth. Then wipe it.

Have you dumped him yet?

ThisMust that should have been.

TheDeep · 12/02/2020 17:51

He needs dumping pronto, what an ungrateful twat.

MostTacticalNameChange · 12/02/2020 18:49

Early on in a new relationship we were talking nonsense and got onto our favourite chocolate bars. Next time I saw him I brought him a 4 pack I'd got for £1. He snarfed the lot straight away then reprimanded me for making him feel sick and ill.

A good deed never goes unpunished. Especially by entitled over grown toddlers!

AnyFucker · 12/02/2020 18:57

Op, you are staying with him aren't you ?

LangClegsOpinionIsNoted · 12/02/2020 19:02

AnyFucker I believe you may be right.

duckingredflags · 12/02/2020 19:06

I haven't heard from him today and I'm not contacting him as I think my silence will say it all. If he contacts me then I will let him know what I think otherwise I'm just planning to ghost him. I think dumping him by text will just ignite drama I really don't have the energy for right now.

OP posts:
NBSW · 12/02/2020 19:08

I think getting him some food was a lovely thing to do and not weird at all. I would do this for a partner.

However, he is a cunt waving a massive red flag.

Get rid.

EuroMillionsWinner · 12/02/2020 19:17

Ghosting him means you cut him off and block him on everything, that way he gets the message, no 'drama'. Drama is passive aggressive silent treatment.

Looks like it, AnyFucker.

Ghostontoast · 12/02/2020 19:22

He’ll try and win you round with a valentine’s mcflurry.

Thefaceofboe · 12/02/2020 19:25

Major red flag!!

letmebefrank · 12/02/2020 19:40

Sensible to just let him go and be by his stroppy self. You can do better.

messolini9 · 12/02/2020 19:42

He’ll try and win you round with a valentine’s mcflurry.
