Would you mind if your husband did this?

We visited a nearby city, about 2 hours away on the train. We had lunch and went round the shops, and all of a sudden he started to get bored and annoyed less than 2 hours after we had arrived. He stormed off and called me 10 minutes later to say he was at the station, and he would come back if I agreed I was only allowed to go in 3 shops. I said we could go in different shops and then meet up later, he said he didn't want to do that because he needed me to help him in his shops.

He then got on the train and went home by himself. I told a friend and she is appalled that he left me to get the train home alone. Is she right? I always get train by myself so I don't see that part as a huge issue, just wondered about people's thoughts.

Yes I would mind, that is very rude and unpleasant behaviour when you were supposed to be spending the day together.

The fact that it doesn't bother you suggests to me that it's just one example of similar behaviour?

Does he often get annoyed with you over small things and when he doesn't get his own way?

It’s not so much getting the train by yourself, but having a tantrum and only agreeing to come back if you go in a certain number of shops is not on. Is he normally like this?

I’d far rather shop alone than do it with that manchild. He was rude but ultimately he did you a favour.

I think most of us would be pissed off at being abandoned like that. Maybe you need a chat about what your expectations are on a day out? if he hates hanging around while you look in shops (as most men do, to be fair), don't plan it. You have to communicate though, you can't just magically know what the other person wants.

But I would hate accompanying anyone while they did their shopping. So boring! I don’t get shopping as a couple unless it’s for a big shared household thing like furniture.

It’s just unnecessary isn’t it? He was bored. Okay. Can he not entertain himself? He wants your help in his shops...right so then he must be patient and wait for you then. What an utter child.

That's how my son would have behaved (minus the walking off) but that was whrn he was 8 he's now 13 and not a baby.

I'd be seriously pissed off if my DH behaved like that. Out of interest what did he think you would be doing in the town as it sounds like to went there to shop!

control freak alert! Do MY thing. Your thing isn’t as important MY needs are more important than yours and he seriously needs your help in shops?! Do you do his shoelaces up for him too? Sorry OP but this is fucking odd behaviour and you need to tell him to grow the fuck up

I’d be annoyed; not about getting the train by myself as I’m a grown woman but by his hissy fit and spiking the day.
In all fairness I know my DP would hate going round the shops with me but we wouldn’t plan to go somewhere together to then look round the shops.

Just the sort of thing mine would do and he's an arsehole. Yesterday he decided to come to Sainsburys with me for some reason, then wandered off with the trolley in a strop. He said I was hogging the list so he felt like a spare part Hmm

Yes I would mind. So he wanted you to go to his shops, but wouldn't right go with you to yours, or wait for you. The only possible outcome for him was the no compromise option! And then he leaves you to make your own way home? Is this normal behavior for him?

This is not a normal way to behave. Is he usually such a petulant manchild? I would not be with someone who behaved like this.
