To think husband should forgive me for his girlfriend breaking up with him

Two months ago I found out my husband had a girlfriend at work. He said that it was nothing serious, just a few dates and stolen kisses in the store room. He would have told me about it when they slept together. I was hurt and confided in my best friend. She did what any friend would do and confronted both of them. His girlfriend didn't like this and felt she was being attacked so broke up with him. Since then my husband has been like a broken hearted teenager. Mopping about I've seen him crying when he thinks I'm asleep. This girl was leaving for uni at the start of September anyway so they would have had to break it off sooner or later but I feel like he blames me. I didn't know my friend would do what she did but I'm being punished for it. We have become more like roommates then husband and wife and not even a family holiday could pull him out of it. He's short tempered with me and it seems nothing I do is good enough. AIBU to expect that after two months I should be forgiven.

TheFastandCurious · 27/08/2019 12:26

This has to be a wind up. Nobody is that much of a doormat.

Do you really hate yourself that much OP?

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/08/2019 12:26

Eh?

iamkahleesi · 27/08/2019 12:26

What?!

Woodlandwitch · 27/08/2019 12:27

You are asking all the wrong questions here

Question 1 should be - why am I with this man?

Question 2 should be - why haven’t I left already

Question 3 should be - how can I make a plan to divorce as soon as possible

TacoFlavouredKisses · 27/08/2019 12:27
Hmm
SuzieSunshine · 27/08/2019 12:27

So why be with him? Has he not made it obvious he wants his girlfriend? So get some self respect for yourself, separate from him and tell him he is welcome to date his girlfriend.

There's something very warped in your thinking if you think he has to forgive you for anything. If anyone should be asking for forgiveness is your 'D'H, in fact he should be begging for it. I would kick his sorry arse out the door, not sit waiting for his forgiveness while he gets cosy with his girlfriend again.

Lipz · 27/08/2019 12:31

He he 'stolen kisses'.

I think what you should do is clean the house, make a big slap up steak dinner with wine/beers and flowers, afterwards clean up fro dinner and then stick on the footie and then massage his feet. Ask him if there is anything else he would like. You should also get a 'Sorry' card and write a loving message in it apologising for breaking up his relationship with store cupboard woman, You should then break the relationship with your so called friend, like, how dare she do what she did. You'll be OK hun, just make sure to attend his needs and maybe suggest he visit store cupboard girl at the weekends. CHin up we're all here for you, sending hugs and kisses

WTF??? I never say this, but please for the Love of God LTB!!!!!!!

TantricTwist · 27/08/2019 12:33

Bizarely I know a couple who went through this who'd been married for 15 years. They ended up moving away and fixing their marriage.

If this is real OP you need to decide together if you want to make a go of your relationship or end it if he is in love and pining for someone else simple as that.

Most people would have left this relationship as soon as they found out he was having an affair.

Seriously? I’m all for couples working together but what the hell did I just read??

If my husband did this, he would get an apology card that I sent him from prison for shoving a baseball bat with nails in it up his bum!!
