Dating thread rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread

And a reminder - you don't know them until you know them!

Wow, he's eager!! Could be a lucky escape there @pinkpixie83

Kinunir · 20/06/2018 17:09

I concur - sounds like you've dodged a bullet there.

lookingforbutterflies · 20/06/2018 17:11

I think I may have had a first date with this guy @pinkpixie83 !

pinkpixie83 · 20/06/2018 17:12

I'm beginning to think so too. Don't think he understands my lifestyle with the kids either.
But I have at least rescued tonight and managed to find a friend to go and have a couple of drinks with so my babysitter is not wasted.

pinkpixie83 · 20/06/2018 17:12

@lookingforbutterflies - where are you based? Had he been traveling?

IronNeonClasp · 20/06/2018 17:12

Hi. Need to catch up. Before a new thread starts! Blush

TomHardysBitontheside · 20/06/2018 17:22

pink sounds like red flags to me. Anyone who talks about being affectionate before meeting would make me very wary.

jax sorry about Mr Norway

naynay sounds like time for you to move on

choc hope it works out with Mr Blue

Well I've got loads on...

Mr Scandi - coffee next week
Mr Academic - messages me about once a week and we're having dinner next week (yes, he's still around!). He suggested meeting up.
Mr Casual - chatting a bit, no date set
Mr Photo - we met months ago on OLD, had a misunderstanding and stopped chatting. He looked me up on social media and now we chat a bit. Spent my lunch hour messaging him today. No plans to meet, but he was always my "one that got away" as I thought we might go somewhere. I'm playing it super cool with him.

lookingforbutterflies · 20/06/2018 17:38

@pinkpixie83 yes!!!!! Everywhere you say he's been! Midlands based....

pinkpixie83 · 20/06/2018 17:53

@lookingforbutterflies I'm over in Norfolk so not sure it can be the same.

But told me he'd just come back from the America's. I mentioned Africa as somewhere I'd like and he'd done parts of that too!
Maybe he gets around 😂

lookingforbutterflies · 20/06/2018 18:29

Quite possibly @pinkpixie83 ! I'm glad it's not the same person although you would definitely have dodged a bullet.

Lovemusic33 · 20/06/2018 18:36

Kin hope your negative profile is working. I tried to make mine funny by using a few negatives and so far it has worked though being open about having kids with ASD has drawn in others with children who have ASD and someone who has ASD themselves (my first ever OLD was with someone on the spectrum and it didn’t go well).

I have put off my date with Mr Rebound (cancelled baby sitter) as I can’t be bothered to go out.

I have had quite a few messages today, most of them a waste of time (telling me how sexy my legs are etc...). I’m still trying to work out Badoo, I have had loads of messages and likes on there but haven’t replied to any as it all looks a bit scary, scarier than tinder? Not sure I like the fact people can message without matching.

Kinunir · 20/06/2018 19:07

From zero to hero since I made the change - cheers love

🤣🤣 glad it worked x

dogzdinner · 20/06/2018 19:31

ooh well done Kin!

Tom - sounds like you are doing well!

I've just got a match with a Mr Beard and sent a message, not having much luck with replies so we'll see...

Further to what I said earlier - I don't really like beards so this shows my unfussiness! He looks clean and healthy and has a pleasant smile.

Chocmallows · 20/06/2018 19:41

Tom Mr Academic has been around for quite a while I think. Is he breadcrumbing you or can you see real progress?
It wouldn't take much for Mr Scandi to jump ahead?

Love I would be put off Mr Rebound as I think he was fairly full-on while knowing you were in the process of ending things with another man? He could have offered to be a listening ear, but jumping for kisses when you were feeling low doesn't make him sound thoughtful.

Literary your iron sounds ok, text messages can be misread, he could be joking about the negative comments. Hopefully better in person, but maybe make date 1 short.

Pink first dates are better as a drink and chat, so much easier to run from!

Kin are you getting more messages though?

Mr Blue was really keen and now DTD he seems a bit cooler. Still messaging and planning next date, but I think he's doing a bit of man running to cave bit to think. Either that or my hormones have kicked in and I'm feeling more vulnerable now.

YesYABU · 20/06/2018 19:53

So much to keep track of.
Choc breadcrumbs get is feeding little bits of attention to keep you as a back up isn't it? I don't think I've seen previous posts about Tom's Mr Academic.
Pink I'd find movie at home as a first date a bit intimidating... What if you meet and don't like him Confused I get that he's cancelled the original first date plan of a drink but I wouldn't jump ahead to the next one.
I'm meeting someone next weekend but can't remember what he looks like as I deleted my profile off that site and can't get back in to find him (and double check the pic) I'm going to have to ask him to send me a new pic aren't I Blush but word it carefully so I'm not inviting body/ dick pics

Kinunir · 20/06/2018 20:01

Yes choc I’ve had 2 replies from 2 messages sent and 6 women made the first move and messaged me.

Little know fact that applies in your case - DTD can affect men too. I know I can get quite introspective for a day or two after the first time with someone new.

LiteraryDevil1 · 20/06/2018 20:16

What exactly did you change to become Mr. Pooular?

Kinunir · 20/06/2018 20:18

My photos and personality Grin

Jaxinthebox · 20/06/2018 20:21

Back from coffee date. He was nice, interesting seemed to like me. Conversation was easy. He has asked to see me again, but not organised anything, so will see. Meanwhile I am back on POF and going to see how things pan out.

dogzdinner · 20/06/2018 20:31

Just wondering - does anyone on here ever have any dates with people they've met not online?

Jaxinthebox · 20/06/2018 20:51

yes I have dogz

I still chat to people in real life Grin

Chocmallows · 20/06/2018 21:02

Dogz I dated someone online who recognised me as we worked together a few months beforehand. I thought it would make things easier, he seemed a really nice man. In about 2 years dating on OLD he's the only one to have arranged date 2 and then ghosted (few others have ghosted straight after date). I wrote and wished him well, he still didn't write anything back. I may see him in 6 months on a new project, but think it will be weird for him as I have told had a laugh with my colleagues.

Kinunir · 20/06/2018 21:13

The only really interesting women I've met offline in the last year or so are work colleagues. Given I only go the office about 12 times a year and the fact that it's work, no non-OLD dates for me.
