Sending you a (((hug))) and some strong Brew Hope work is bearable.

Surely, if they worked in pairs, the teacher would be aware of it? Does he have any notes saved that he could use to build on?

Sunny day here and I have walked 4.5 miles this morning with double buggy and various combinations of bags/shopping/small people.

Now just making a start on the house well after 5 minutes to sit down and catch up here

A 1/4 of my crochet squares are done!

Willow2017 · 17/05/2018 12:41

MrsJ go you on the crochet Grin

Goodness thats a lot of walking! Have more than 5 mins Smile

He doesnt have anything as it was all handed in by the other boy! Why do these things always happen to my kids?

He is starting on his revision and we will attack the project tomorrow. (Not that I am doing it for him just cheering him on, keeping things in perspective etc)

bookbook · 17/05/2018 13:06

Afternoon!
Busy morning here at the allotment.
Last night, got home, had a bath and flopped :)
Willow - mmm I think some of the blame must be on the teacher - they are the ones submitting the work, surely , and so there must be some paper trail l that they can follow? . Its just one thing after another, poor you. (hugs)
MrsJ - thats hardcore walking, with a double buggy too !
I am off to sit and do a bit of blanket joining now, then back out again this afternoon to pick up a bit of shopping .

Book I think so too. Thier lack of communication is appalling.

Have spoken to ex about house and ds1 and he had a word with him there and then Grin told him to get his finger out or else his pc will vanish.

Chasingsquirrels · 17/05/2018 15:34

Willow why are all these things happening you, big hugs, Flowers & Cake.

Work over for the week, although I could do with going in tomorrow, but I'm not.
Boys taxi-ing later and in between going to MIL's as SIL & BIL are there clearing after she has gone in to a care home.

Willow2017 · 17/05/2018 15:39

Squirrels wish i knew.

House clearing is a sad job. All those memories. Hope mil will feel more secure and happy being looked after 24/7.

Horsemad · 17/05/2018 18:47

Just quickly popping in to say Hi. 🙂

Bright but cool day here; was working, so it didn't matter that it wasn't as warm as I would like!

Supposed to be getting a bit warmer for the weekend I believe. Let's hope so!

How was bridge this week *chasing?

Willow, I feel the school are letting your DS down, surely they should have been a bit more on the ball. Grrr on your behalf Angry

MrsJ - bet it's just a little crazy there this week... !! 😁

MrsJonesAndMe · 17/05/2018 19:11

Slight understatement horse 😜🎉👰🏼

bookbook · 17/05/2018 19:43

Evening all
Just about to sit and crochet for the evening.
I have been gardening this afternoon after going shopping. Rather stiff and weary now!
Willow - is it worth speaking to his head of year, or head of the subject to see if anything can be done?
MrsJ - it is looking manic on the TV , goodness knows what it will be like on Saturday!
Chasing - something of a sad time, sorting things for MIL - a lifetime of memories to try and part with.

OP posts:
MrsJonesAndMe · 17/05/2018 20:52

Hi, can post properly now.

(((hugs))) Squirrel I'm sorry to hear MIL has had to move to a care home. While probably best for her, it must be hard all round.

What blanket are you working on book? I still need to finish off Annandale's squares and get them in the post. Blush

Willow I hope that DS1 can get some stuff done and that ex can help for once

Plenty warm enough here horse - could just be because I've done so much! DD asked for an extra blanket at bed time!

Chasingsquirrels · 17/05/2018 21:10

Cooler here as well.
Gave ds2 the choice of joggers or coming with me and he said he'd rather see SIL & BIL.
John was staying with his mum for a period after his marriage ended and before he rented somewhere, then a few months before we moved in together as he didn't want to renew the rental for another year as we were just building up to it with the boys. He'd left various stuff in his room there, as well as having stuff in the loft and the garage. We went though the clothes - all in bags for charity shop now - and some other bits. So tears and laughter and I told SIL about the date, and she was lovely about it.
Dropped ds1 at archery on the way there and picked him up on the way back and then got chips for tea so all well fed now Grin.

Willow2017 · 17/05/2018 22:11

Squirrels ((hugs)) must have been hard to deal with it all again.

Ds2 enjoyed cadets and wants to continue. They didnt do a lot as the regulars have had a trip away and they talked about that. But he did get to handle a rifle so was very happy and he picked up what to do quickly and impressed his 'buddy'😀

Ds1 however in argymentative mode being playing online and getting irate with someone so i get the attitude. Will remind him of his dads promise to take it away if he doesn't shape up.😀

Work ok but there is just too much to do before we finish its ridiculous while still serving. Its just an hour and half non stop slog (as fast as poss) to get it done. No pleasure at all.

Cool here tonight too. Last night was weird. Very cold around 6-7 and put fire and hearing on low for a while then got very warm late pm!

MrsJ ex not sure if he will make it this weekend but will try for sunday but will get down asap if he cant after work next week. He is fine when it comes to backing me up actually and will tell kids how he expects them to behave when he isnt here and would not think twice about removing devices if necessary. He wont take any crap from them😀

Have bit the bullet and put a notice up in shop for toy/equipment sale next sat to try to shift all my cm stuff in the yard😲 fingers crossed.

Book i dont know. I havent checked emails yet to see if teacher got back to me yet re project specs. Might try speaking to him tomorrow if he hasnt.

MrsJ i take it you are in windsor😀 have you got your invite on the mantlepiece and your posh frock bought?

Willow2017 · 17/05/2018 22:15

Horse i agree. Nothing is ever highlighted until parents evening. Like english teacher writing 'good work. Improve x snd y' on homework then telling me a week before prelins ds1 is failing! And getting date of prelim a week out so no chance to make up.

Oh and to ad insult to injury... the new glasses that were supposed to have glue on screws to keep them in..screw came out and lens fell out today!!!

MrsJonesAndMe · 18/05/2018 06:14

I've got my hat Wink In reality we will be hiding at home...

Willow2017 · 18/05/2018 11:01

I am tearing my hair out!
Teacher still hasnt sent the paper for ds1s project, cant talk to him on the phone have to go through guidance and they cant be found!

I suppose I should have had him go into school to get it first thing but was in a bit of a rush this morning, parent fail!

I am drowning in all this crap. Somehow I have failed to instil a love of learning into him, or even a try your very best and thats fine, despite my best efforts and support through everything.

Why dont school tell you stuff before its too bloody late?
Cant they realise not all kids will take in all the info first time and do something on their own to sort it out? That some kids are overwhelmed and cant see the wood for the trees? That some kids just wont tell their parents they are failing due to embarassment?

God I am crap at parenting maybe I should have been more proactive but when your child doesnt open up about stuff its hard to know something is wrong.

Hope I can stop crying before they phone back Sad

84CharingCrossRoad · 18/05/2018 11:08

Mum is home tomorrow afternoon but I'm doing a sleepover at work tomorrow night. She will have to bring my bedding when she gets home. I've been busy baking this week. Have made two more banana loaves and meringues. Also this afternoon I'm going to make a quiche ready for dinner when Mum and sister Bee get home. I have the wedding to watch tomorrow and the FA Cup Final as my beloves Chelsea are playing!!

Willow2017 · 18/05/2018 11:12

Well have sound info online about the test but not the specific questions, its a start...

MrsJonesAndMe · 18/05/2018 12:24

(((hugs))) You are not a crap parent or a failure of any sort. You can only act on what you know and the school has failed to communicate properly. He's not 5 where you should be sitting and doing homework with him - you have taken the right stance to encourage the independence he needs.

Hope you've had a phone call now.

Hate football in this house 84 Rugby all the way Grin

Taking it easier today - just going to go do some baking. Must then not scoff it all!

Willow2017 · 18/05/2018 12:28

Well according to ds2 teacher isnt even in today! So getting the paper isnt an option. I have decuded to go zen on it all. Whats done is done, without 4 months of work on the project he is realistically not going to pass. He said that after his work was given up to be used by the other boy he thought why the hell bother, I cant do 4 months new work in couple of weeks. I will find out what the hell happened next week (its half day at school today so no use going in anyway)

Still no word back from school anyway so dont know if guidance teacher is there or not.

Need to go to opticians for ds2s glasses and get mine fixed. Will get some shopping and a cuppa with ds2.

84 banana load AND meringues, ooooh stop it I am starving Grin

Chasingsquirrels · 18/05/2018 15:20

Willow, just echoing what Cake said, you are not a crap parent. Hugs.
Do you know if any of the other kids did it in pairs and what happened with theirs? It just sounds very odd. Hope you can get something sorted.
More positively, good to read that ds2 enjoyed cadets and the friend's dad will make it happen for him.

84 lots of baking and cooking for you, sounds good.

Cake hiding out tomorrow sounds like a good idea!

book, not sure if I've missed a post from you, how did the fruit cage netting go?

@SelenaValentine hope you are okay xx

horse you must be expecting ds2 home for the summer soonish, doesn't seem 5 minutes since you were taking him up!

I've had a productive morning and a lazy afternoon, cleaned my bathroom, vacuumed downstairs and steamed a couple of patches on the lounge carpet where Charlie had wee'd when he was tiny - I'd cleaned them at the time and vaxed them since so they were cleaned but stained, if that makes sense. The steamer seems to have lifted the stain though which is good.
Then got my hair cut and popped to pick up a couple of 2nd hand yr 11 jumpers on the way home, they have a special jumper only the yr 11's can wear and as they aren't even in school for the whole year second hand ones are generally in pretty good condition.
Then went to have coffee with a lady from bridge club and had a lovely chat.
Ds1 will be home soon and I pickup ds2 from an after school club at 5pm then a quick turnaround with a snack and out to judo for 6pm.

Willow2017 · 18/05/2018 18:21

Thanks ladies.
Never heard from school so nothing we can do now. He can sit the unit on mon i suppose and it will guage his understsnding of that topic to go forward maybe?

Got shopping with ds2 and got my glasses fixed, tightened all round and screw glued in. Got to get his glasses next wed when optician in.
Went to cafe N and coffee machine not working! But got free cup of tea for the disappointment 😀

Squirrels sounds like a nice afternoon.

More baking😀 pass it this way MrsJ i will take the temptation away for you😉

Just put the news on. Omg not again. What the hell is going on in the world where shooting children in school is a regular occurance?
Giving mine extra hugs tonight. Cannot bear to imagine what the parents are going through.
R.I.P.

Chasingsquirrels · 18/05/2018 18:34

Haven't seen the news Willow but Sad.

Grr, the yr 11 jumpers I got aren't big enough for ds1. I thought his current ones were S and these are M, but his current ones are M and he needs L.
Have listed them for sale and also posted a wanted.

Have another date lined up with the OLD man from Monday, but not for a couple of weeks as I've got stuff on in my boy free evenings then it's half term. We have been texting a few times a day though.

bookbook · 18/05/2018 18:36

Evening all
well, what a day , it has zoomed by, and not sure where its gone!
Willow - please, please don't think you are anything but a Mum doing her absolute best in pretty hard circumstances. I think the school itself is far more culpable in truth, and you have every reason to write a letter of complaint to the head ( maybe email if possible, so you have a trail) . They are teenagers, as MrsJ says, not toddlers to be looked after. I think all the other stuff in your life is making you very stressed too, so take some time if you can to just relax , and realise that your DC's will be fine - promise :)
84 - that sounds like a lovely day to me - and meringues and quiche - heaven!
Chasing - well, the brassica cage has been on going a bit like a slow walk Grin . Net went on like a dream this Tuesday , and today DH made the door, and we netted the ends, so its just about done - a few bits of tidying up round the edges , thats it all ready to plant up next week . It sounds as if you have a really good day - I like productive and lazy . Its a bit of a rip off, school uniforms I think - its seems like a licence to print money in truth, so its nice when you can pick up a bargain .
MrsJ - hope you have stocked up on everything, so you can hunker down tomorrow :)
Well, it Gardeners World , a bath and crochet for me tonight.
Tomorrow I do my stint at the horticultural shop, - its been very busy this last month , but will take my crochet just in case !
Have a good evening everyone

I am so slow typing - x post. Haven't heard about the shooting - those poor children and parents. It makes my heart sore tto think some assume its the thing to attack children in what should be a safe environment.
Sounds good about the OLD guy Chasing -

Oh Squirrels that's a pain. Hope you can get bigger ones. Special jumpers for not quite a year? Madness.

Book thanks i am sure you are right.
Hope you arent too busy tomorrow and get a breather. Cage sounds ace but it also sounds like you are making even more work for yourselves and more picking to do😉
