What do I do.
Standing in the kitchen waiting for the kettle and my husbands phone beeps. It's a delayed text from midnight. It's from my best friend. It says 'nite gorgeous lumu'
I am stunned and my heart is going like the clappers. We have 4 children. She has been on family holidays with us, my children call her auntie. My marriage is not great but mainly because he's been foul to me recently. I can't even cry.

OP posts:

I certainly haven't read all these posts, but they are often similar. Tons of women come on asking the OP for more information. I know some women are empathetic and have been through something similar but I think a lot of women are just nosy and see it like a soap opera but what almost always happens is the OP disappears. Strange but true!

Was going to start a thread. Is our interest caring or prurient

Faultymain5 · 11/03/2018 07:25

Probably could do with starting a thread on this kind of caring.

In response to the question I wouldn't say prurient (now I've looked it upWink). But definitely feels like an element of voyeurism. It's not a soap opera, but it feels as though it is being treated as such and it would not surprise me if the OP never came back.

NotSureThisIsWhatIWant · 11/03/2018 07:25

Looking at this thread, I would say the latter. This is just as a version of reality tv with the option to add to it your comments.

MelonKim · 11/03/2018 07:26

I admit gossipy interest. I’m not proud

Ledkr · 11/03/2018 07:26

Think op's tend to disappear as they are dealing with a huge crisis in their lives and therefore the last thing g they are thinking of is updating a load of strangers on mumsnet.

Partyfops · 11/03/2018 07:42

I think I would find it hard not to murder them both in their sleep!!

george49 · 11/03/2018 07:47

Prurient Melon. I always find it prurient here.

A soap opera that you can comment on. Exactly.

Prurient Melon. I always find it prurient here.

Catrina1234 I couldn’t agree more. I don’t think this op will be back which is a shame as she initially received some good support.
So many ‘well meaning’ posts, insensitivity placemarking clogging up op thread.

Catrina1234 · 11/03/2018 14:53

I wonder if the women in these cases decide to stay and try and move on and then don't like to say so. I really dislike these women that all cry LTB - and "if it were me he'd be out tonight" "put his things in a bin bag on the front garden" etc - this OP has 4 children, 2 with disabilities. It's not so simple as these women tapping away comfortably on their sofa make out. There are so many issues at stake and there are going to be difficult times ahead whatever decisions are made (I've been there) and NOT the OW. I am still angry at times 2 years later but I have an illness and need a lot of care which my husband always gives and is full of remorse.

Oh and I don't know what prurient means though my English is good!!

Melon be good to start that thread.
Faulty I think voyeurism is a good explanation for some posters.
Sometimes when I have tried to keep away from LTB and posted about all the issues that will need sorting and not to make hasty decisions or confront the OW, I've been pilloried by posters telling me I shouldn't be giving such advice. Then I have PMs from the OP thanking me or understanding!
