Ha ha north sea is our sea! Spent my childhood in it and kids have too. (Me not so much these days😀😀)

bookbook · 02/03/2018 22:18

its ours too Willow - chilly Hornsea is my childhood Grin

SelenaValentina · 02/03/2018 22:29

Accuweather says we're going to have snow overnight, so spinning or not depends on that 8 a.m. peer out of the curtains (and whether the alarm trills)!

North Sea seems wrong way round somehow. I'm used to the sun setting over the sea - not rising. Odd how logical things throw you!

Sleep well everyone and keep warm.

Willow2017 · 02/03/2018 23:48

I am waiting to see what tomorrow brings too. Swimming first thing but if its icy will not be going out till roads are ok.
Mind you have actually switched heating off for a while! Went upstairs and it was roasting!

Stay warm folks.

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/03/2018 07:12

Morning! DS slept in so I did too although I realise 6:45 doesn't qualify in anyone else's house Grin

Still snowy out there, but doesn't look like more fell over night.

Take care all of you!

Horsemad · 03/03/2018 07:30

More snow overnight. Not too much and the wind seems to have calmed down.

I have to go to the village this morning, so will walk I think.

We've had no postal deliveries since Wednesday.

That's a nice lie in Cake! Smile Selena - has it snowed and are you going spinning?

Hope everyone else is ok and cosied up in the warm. Chasing, I hope you are starting to feel better. Flowers

Chasingsquirrels · 03/03/2018 08:38

Thanks all ☺.

Lots more snow yesterday evening and overnight here. Boys were meant to be with their dad yesterday - he picks ds2 up from judo which is now 9.30pm as he moved up to the oldest group recently. Given the roads and the forecast snow I suggested we swap to Sat - Sun this week, and I told ds2 I wasn't taking him to judo. Having seen a picture someone posted of the main road at 8pm last night I think that was probably a good call, and I really wasn't up to driving yesterday anyway.

Feeling a bit better this morning I think, although knackered now from sorting the hens.

Charlie woke up about 6.30am, I went downstairs and offered to let him out (he just barks at me) and then went back upstairs to go to the loo - and went back to bed. He went to sleep on the stairs and we didn't get up till 7.45am when ds2 surfaced. Well I didn't, looking at the socks all over the lounge Charlie had obviously got the the washing basket and had fun at some point!

It's taken me about half an hour to post this and now I've forgotten what everyone else said...

Morning all.
-1 and snowing again here so not going anywhere just now! Watching news and A1 still nearly empty further south of us and police leading convoys where necessary! Road pretty clear (Maybe icy though) but the winds and drifting snow are still a problem i think.

Hoping it will improve later so can go get some shopping for next week.
Mrsj your right thats not a long lie, i really dont know how you do it.
Squirrels hope you feel properly better as day goes on. Take it easy.

I need to get motivated today get uniforms ironed and run Hoover round. Washed the filter so it wil be trying to suck the carpet off the floor now😀
Stay cozy.

Chasingsquirrels · 03/03/2018 09:06

I love it when I've cleaned out the vacuum and filter and it actually works properly Willow, not sure I do it often enough though!

Scouts on so ds2 off to play in the snow for a couple of hours shortly.

Definitely less cold here, hens water was slushy ice rather than frozen solid and everything dropping.

Morning all!
nowhere near as bad overnight, only -0.5º this morning, and the snow is disappearing , even after another light dusting . Having said that , I've just looked up , and its snowing ...
I have to pop out to the shops to pick up meat for Sunday . ( I went yesterday to get a chicken, and he only had little ones left - no use to me feeding 7 ! So have to go and get one from todays delivery) .
Other than that, not much on the cards that needs doing
Selena - we have only had the alarm switched on when we have to be up at a certain time - its a joy waking up when you are ready :)
Willow - hope you get milk and bread today!
MrsJ - a lie-in , only you could say that!
Horse - its one of the reasons I love living here - it is small enough to feel like a community, - we can walk in to the shops in about 15 minutes But it''s also large enough to keep all the services going .
Have a good day everyone

bookbook · 03/03/2018 09:40

Chasing - good that you are feeling a bit better, but it takes it out of you. Hope you find all the socks ! :)

84CharingCrossRoad · 03/03/2018 12:28

Currently sitting watching Philomena.... Managed to get to the shop this morning. I don't drive but Mum does.... I have a surprise party to go to tonight.......

Horsemad · 03/03/2018 12:56

Hmm, so that's where the socks go... except I haven't got a Charlie 😀 Don't think I can blame it on the cat but you never know!

Snow very slushy here, forecast rain tomorrow so it will be gone soon. It's been really heartening seeing people offering their help and supporting people who have been snowed in. The farmers round here have been fab, helping to clear the roads. https. Halo

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/03/2018 15:31

Hi

Well I'm meant to be in London for tonight's show and instead i'm watching a kiddies DVD with DS Sad MIL had knee deep snow, so we decided on Thursday that she would stay put.

Hope you're all toasty. Things have melted away here so I've even had the pleasure of standing in the park and freezing Hmm

Chasingsquirrels · 03/03/2018 15:39

Oh what a shame cake x

Afternoon all
84 - is it a surprise if everyone manages to turn up? I hear Judi Dench was very good in that film, but I'm not totally sure I want to watch it .
oh no MrsJ - that seems so unfair ... :(
Well, we have been and managed to buy my chicken for tomorrow at least.
I have done some crochet, but have faffed as well- I sorted all my knitting needles out - I have so many ...
Then I decided to bake, so have made a quiche for tea. Spare pastry , so made a fruit pie as well . Just waiting for these to come out of the oven, and then I will go and do some more blanket construction.
Its much warmer today, wind gone, but the snow is still hanging around a fair bit , but not on the roads thankfully .

84CharingCrossRoad · 03/03/2018 16:35

Ha ha what an innocent look! 84

Well my train wreck of a life hurtles on apace!

Went out to go to town, couldnt get up the drive! Tried and tried, got shovel out and dug out to gravel, nope. Just as I had an epiphany that maybe a tyre was soft...ds2 came to car door (he was shovelling) and said you have a flat tyre! Flat as a pancake with a screw in it. Angry Angry Angry
Bloody builders, I am still picking up nails and screws months on and thought there couldnt be any more! Knew my usual place would be shut so phoned Kwik Fit 3 times - no answer...starting to panic... tried phone to see what times they were open...wouldnt go on internet...back into house on pc...they were open...phoned and got someone to answer... then phone cut off. By then almost in tears of frustration.
Took off and they fixed the puncture, went into car park and got stuck in bloody snow! Had to dig myself out and find a space without a foot of snow in it! Got wellies for ds2 and went to cafe, phone still refusing to find internet. Went to O2 shop, 'guru' not in till tomorrow (when I am working!) so no help whatsoever. Got shopping, McD's and came home and vowed never to leave the house again. I surrender. Life can sod off. I am gonna sit in my chair and read for the rest of my life.
(switched off phone and back on again and it came up with 'processor not working' so waitied, then completely back to normal internet and all! )
Wheres the wine bottle, pass me a straw Grin

Willow2017 · 03/03/2018 17:16

Sorry about the trip MrsJ what a pia.

Enjoy the party 84, who is it for?

84CharingCrossRoad · 03/03/2018 17:30

It's for one of the school Mums. Am picking up my best friend en route to the village hall which is 5 mins from my house.
Don't think I will stay very late as am not really in a party mood. Friends husband invited me prior to DP passing away.
Apparently a party isn't a party without me!!!

Chasingsquirrels · 03/03/2018 18:33

Ah Willow what a day, hugs.

Take it as it comes 84, enjoy where you can x

OP posts:
SelenaValentina · 03/03/2018 19:23

Hugs Willow. Grrrr! Tomorrow is another day and all that.

Hope all goes well, 84 - often the outings you're not enthusiastic about turn out better than expected. If not, so what!
book, just come and stay with me for a week and organise me, please! Like you, alarm only on when needed - usually spinning days.

Yes it trilled, yes I went. Accuweather wrong, so they need new name, just dry, grey and not quite as cold. Done few things after hospital shift, sorted 2 bags of books onto clean and dust-free shelves Halo, another huge bag to do tomorrow. Now it's feet up, read Mumsnet and book, enjoy warm gas fire.

Have an enjoyable evening everyone, and keep warm.

84CharingCrossRoad · 03/03/2018 21:58

Got home a little while ago. Had a nice time but didn't stay late. Picked up my friend and her daughter and son in law.. Saw lots of friends. Had three glasses of wine so will probably suffer in the morning.....
