What is the man playing at! he is really dragging this out. He was the one to create the mistrust in the first place, why won't he accept all your nice words and just come home. I wonder if he trust's himself.

mylittlestar · 06/04/2007 18:49

i'd say exactly that to him if i were you

he needs to come back and start proving he can be trusted...

then in return you can prove to him that you can trust him again...

it takes both of you to make it work

agree, he's really dragging it out isn't he. nightmare for you xx

I think i would give him an ultimatum now. I would be telling him if he's not home within the hour with a bottle of wine and a bar of chocolate (big one) then he can come and pick his belongings up from the road side.

Then, when he turns up with the wine and the bar of chocolate (big one) i would snatch them from his hand and slam the door!!!! Then tell him to come back in the morning

mylittlestar · 06/04/2007 18:57

good for you

give him the chance to come back and start to sort things out

if he doesn't there's no harm in packing the car up and heading off and leaving him to it!

I hope he comes back xx

Hi Mel,

How did things go over the weekend? He didn't exactly help matters so he really can't blame you for not trusting him - and his running away to his mother's isn't helping as you've both now had several days to think and now need to do some talking. With or without chocolate

Hope things are ok - let us know.

melminx · 10/04/2007 18:30

hi tanee yes he came back friday.. have talked and so far we have got basically all of it out in th eopen and dealt with but time will tell if we can be ok in the long run.

Really glad that you're starting to make progress. The hardest thing is getting them to open up - it seems like they feel there's something weak about a man admitting he has problems too (they try instead to make US the problem>)

My weekend was much, MUCH nicer than last weekend - when I really thought dp had lost it completely, saying he didn't want to live with me anymore & being permanently pissed. He's still depressed but at least talking to me and not disappearing for drunken walks in the park. We were supposed to be seeing some of his friends on Friday and Saturday, which I thought might do him good as he's just at home (or in the park) on his own all day - but at the last minute he decided he couldn't face company. On Sunday dd and I went to my parents and had a great time, lots of sparkly wine and didn't press him to accompany us. He was missed, but I'm not pressuring him to be sociable at the moment.

Just hope he does his job applications today (homework from the Job Centre!) I wish he'd take up gardening - I find it so therapeutic myself and there's certainly plenty to do. He did chop some branches off our overgrown bay tree (chopping wood is Man's Work) but leaves the rest to me!

Hope all goes well with you - keep us updated.
