New thread :). Thought I'd start this one like I ended the last one - Bertie crashed out after a busy day's mischief making.

Evening Juan, what an absolutely beautiful rose.

Glad you had a nice walk with your friend. You know, you really are doing well in these early days, and I'm glad this lovely thread is a support. Sorry to hear about the panic attack. I've only ever had one in my life and it isn't something I'd want to repeat.

I have a friend who can do everything too. She happens to be my SIL and thankfully she's absolutely lovely so I don't mind that our MIL always used to compare me to her, and not in a favourable way.

DH managed to plumb in & connect the shower successfully, no lights dimming anywhere thank goodness. He's very chuffed with himself for getting it done, the boys are pleased they have their shower back & I have turned off the immersion heater.

daisychain01 · 10/06/2017 22:41

Evening all! What a pretty lemon colour rose, juan does it have a scent?

It has been very strange weather. I've been over to visit DM in west London and it was bright blue skies, a little windy but pleasant. We sat outside in the courtyard of our favourite local bistro and had jacket potato for lunch. But when I was driving back home the weather went from bad to worse and it had been sheet rain all evening.

somer your parmesan on the DDog-food was an absolute hoot. Nothing wrong with an over indulged pooch, next it'll be pesto and pinenuts on the side Grin

Hugs and 💖

Evening
beautiful rose Juan
just about ready to turn in here - DH watching F1 qualifying. Luckily tomorrow it doesn't clash with the tennis :).
good to hear the shower is up and working Drama

The weather is just all over the place, and there is just no point in thinking the forecast has anything to do with reality either!
Somer - have you seen chillow pillows/mats ? may just help as you have built in central heating at the moment,- poor you.
Night, sleep tight all
Thoughts and Prayers x

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 11/06/2017 06:30

Hello all

Juan that is gorgeous. I love real old fashioned roses that still smell of something. Not like you get in bouquets.

DH stayed up to watch the qualifier from the empty beer bottle count

Mixed result with DS. Piriton works for 4-6 hours so after a really quiet stint, he woke at 12:20 all snuffly and cross. Took him downstairs and wrestled more into him (getting it all over his neck and PJs as he won't just do it nicely) He settled again after that but same thing happened at 6am. Going to get him to the Drs and in the mean time change the bedding for hypoallergenic.

I find it a comfort to read about the normal ebb and flow of life too Juan so it's certainly helpful to more than just you. Glad you got out with your friend and I don't think you have to worry about your figure either.

Going to have a quiet day again me thinks. Boys have been digging in the garden to install a wildlife pond a la Gardeners World from 2 weeks ago and for homework DS can make a bug hotel so that will keep us busy for a while.

daisychain01 · 11/06/2017 09:08

It's a lovely time of year to do outdoor projects- I like the sound of your DSs 'bug hotel' there cake. I saw a great one at Slimbridge wild fowl park last year. It was quite random (which was its charm) with different bits of wood, bamboo all held together with chicken wire. Very Blue Peter Smile. I've got the urge to make one this year, you've given me a good idea. Hope DS feels better soon.

Well done MrDrama for being the dab-hand shower fixer-upper! He deserves a Star for that.

bookbook · 11/06/2017 14:17

Afternoon all
The morning got away from me - :) washing done and hung out, phone call from friend, and allotment, picking broad beans and .strawberries
Tidied all the kitchen, prepped up tea , and now sat about to watch tennis :)
Cake - DGS had an inbuilt thing against medication too ( and he had loads when he was little) - do you have one of those handy oral syringes, and put it right into his cheek? That was about the only way with him and the obvious poison that is antibiotics!
Hope everyone has a good afternoon
Thoughts and Prayers x

Willow2017 · 11/06/2017 15:32

Afternoon all

Hope you are feeling better Juan what a lovely rose.

Had a good day yesterday (well apart from sitting on one of those wooden school benches for 2 hours my poor back!) Ds2 seemed to do fine in his patterns so fingers crossed 😀 had a nice day at m6 aunts, unfortunately she needed to pick up some stuff in Dobies so there went £20 on plants for my pots too😀 have managed to clear out pots and plant them up plus get into that corner or the garden that was bugging me today. In between rain and winds and Sun I persevered. Still loads to do if it would only stop bloody raining!

Another downside ( Ok big upside) to visiting aunt is the baking😁 had scones and home made jam, a coffee and walnut bun and a slither of choc cake. And wasn't ashamed a bit😄

Hope everyone's aches and pains and sneezes and snuffles are on the mend.

Hope you are all enjoying a peaceful sunny day.

Chasingsquirrels · 11/06/2017 15:37

Ah cake I am NOT envying you with the early mornings, I really hope you it is 'something' which you can address and get sorted x

I woke up in the middle of the night with gripey stomach pains and a bit of the runs - no idea what caused it, still a bit wobbly in the stomach this morning but fine now. Very strange.

Can I pick brains please - someone mentioned holidaying in Turkey (book?).
I'm looking for 10/11 days in the summer with the boys and have seen some really nice looking one in Turkey which are much better value than the Canaries or Balerics (un-suprisingly). I suppose I just want reassurance! I'll message my brother - he has lived in Turkey for years, although not at present, and has Turkish citizenship. Part of my concern is that he thinks it's best not to be there at the moment, and it really is his home country now and he'd rather be there.

Chasingsquirrels · 11/06/2017 15:38

Sounds like a good day Willow

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 11/06/2017 18:29

Hello all, well blow me over like a feather - he's just taken the Piriton off the spoon OK we did bribe him with a Muller corner after, but still

We have spent all day on our feet. Boys did bits in the garden including starting the insect hotel. I have been looking on the devil that is Pintrest and there are some wonderful examples. Ours won't be, but we're going to go look for pine cones next weekend as ladybirds like them apparently.

We saw woodpeckers in the garden yesterday too - sounds quite exotic bearing in mind how urban we are. Haven't seen or heard a hedgehog in years though Sad

Squirrel sorry to hear you've felt off. That could well go hand in hand with the odd period. Hope that you sleep well and tomorrow brings some normality for you.

Willow that sounds like an awesome day! Well done for DS and hope your bum/back has recovered. I hate parents eve when they stick you on those silly childrens chairs! Grin

Juan thinking of you as always on Sunday night and tomorrow. Must seem like forever but also no time at all. (((hugs)))

bookbook · 11/06/2017 21:14

Evening all
its quiet, everyone has gone home, all tidy again.
Chasing - sounds to me like you have had a bit of a bug , and hopefully its sorted now. Not me about holidays in Turkey though - nearest I have been is Rhodes over 30 years ago..... sorry!
Cake - what a result! I wonder if he knows it is doing good. or maybe it tastes nice :) Hedgehogs are in serious decline now - you need to allow some room under hedges for them to roam through gardens, and most people now have fences , sadly
Willow - those benches are murder, but it sounds like a very good day - hope DS has done well .
Well, going to sit and do some crotchet now.
Hope you are okay today Juan , thinking of you.

Willow2017 · 11/06/2017 23:00

cake glad the medicine has gone down 😀 mine especially my eldest were ok with Calpol but antibiotics were a nightmare. And don't even mention conjunctivitis cream 😉😀

squirrels hope your over your bug now. Not nice start to a day.

Juan hoping your getting through Sunday a little better today.

bookbook · 11/06/2017 23:23

sleep well everyone
Thoughts and Prayers x

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 12/06/2017 06:22

Hello, we had to dose him again at 11 but after that he slept till 6. Just had his breakfast. Such a pain when they won't let you help them feel better.

I have no experience of Turkey either. Part of me says life should carry on without letting fear take over blah blah blah but I'd be reticent booking something in an area where atrocities have taken place.

Our fence in the back has a gap but last spotted some in the front garden which is all open plan round here. Saw a fox early the other morning strolling through the car park!

Waiting anxiously to give DD a big cuddle. She's been with her dad all weekend. Parents eve tomorrow night where I might just rip the teacher a new one Angry

DramaAlpaca · 12/06/2017 10:10

Morning all.

Cake glad DS had a good sleep. Hope that meant you did too.

My DB & his family are going to Turkey this summer so they are obviously not worried. I absolutely love Turkey, but I'm not sure if I'd want to go there at the moment.

Got to ring the dentist now, I've had persistent toothache for a few days. I've been hoping it'll go away by itself, but it hasn't.

Juan thinking of you this Monday x

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 12/06/2017 10:48

Oh no, teeth are a nightmare. Hope they sort you out Drama

I've managed to get a GP appointment for DS tomorrow after school with one of the 2 we trust, so hopefully they'll be able to suss what is going on.

book out of all the lotions, potions and medication I've been faced with in my nearly 11 years of mothering, I think the worst was eye drops for DD a few years ago and the nit treatment after she came back infested after a 2 week jolly with her dad/SM...they told me her scalp was just a bit itchy from swimming every day. Hmm Took 3 weeks of twice daily combing (one week of this while we were on our family holiday) and numerous weekly Hedrin to get her head clear!

I've calmed down a bit now on the bullying front, but thinking I will write something down as we'll be under time constraint, not in complete privacy and it will be stressful enough to go there with ex and pretend to be civil. Will get DH to help me write it. Just want to make sure that I impart to the teacher that this is serious and it's impact on DD is serious and she (nor I) don't need any more drama.

Hope you're all OK ladies. A bit grey and windy here, but apparently better for the rest of the week.

Hope you're doing OK Somer and Unborn - haven't seen her around in a bit, is she on a Pregnancy thread with you at all Somer?

Squirrel I hope that you are feeling better today.

bookbook · 12/06/2017 11:41

Morning all
fair breezy here, but dry.
Had the morning at the allotment wrestling weeds , and picked some baby spinach for tea.
Sat with a cup of coffee now, with hair like a bush.....
Drama - toothache is one of the worst pains IMO, hope it gets sorted.
Cake - nits are a pain - luckily only DD2 got them with any regularity, but long hair we found a drop or two of lavender oil in the rinse after hair washing helped, and being a bit iffy on nit killer too often I went down the hair conditioner, careful combing every 2 days .. Hours of my life on a night, combing nits Grin. Letter sounds like a good ides. Keep a copy, so you have a paper trail too.
Have a load of ironing to do, then out to pick up DGS from preschool, dash home for tea, and out to a committee meeting tonight.
Juan - hope the Monday blues are not too bad today
Chasing - thinking of you too
Thoughts and Prayers x

DramaAlpaca · 12/06/2017 12:20

I've got a dental appointment for tomorrow morning. I'm sure I'll cope for another day if I keep taking the painkillers. It's not too bad really, just an annoying niggle. I've never had trouble with my teeth so I hope it's not the start of everything going downhill.

Nits - urrgh. Fortunately we always managed to avoid them. The boys always had very short hair, so there was nothing for the little blighters to cling on to!

DS1 was always a nightmare to get medicine into, and he was so stubborn as a little one that even bribery wouldn't work. The eye drops he had to have for his hayfever were definitely the worst.

Cake yes, writing it down sounds like a good idea.

daisychain01 · 12/06/2017 13:11

Hello everyone. Dry and sunny here... veering towards the warm side (I'm normally the wingeing one on those MN threads about "who hates the heat Smile as I can feel ill if the temps go too high. Atm they are fine but I am dreading later this week....

All the very best for the dentist, Drama toothache is indeed an awful pain. I went for a check up last week and I think I may have to have my right wisdom tooth extracted (cue more wingeing and being a complete woose). I am sure they'll sort it out. Have you tried clove oil in the meantime. I've heard it helps soothe.

juan thought of you yesterday and today, hope sadness is somewhat cheered by a bit of nice sunshine out there x

cake we can be your MN posse, to guard you virtually against that bullying grrr Angry. You sound very together tho Flowers

bookbook my hair looks like a bush even when I've spent 10 mins trying to style it Grin Its sort of wavy, curly and does its own thing most of the time. Need a haircut soon beat it into submission

Happy Monday all you lovely ladies xx

daisychain01 · 12/06/2017 13:15

Squirrels hope you have been able to get a better night's sleep. The world does feel that bit better when sleep/rest returns even if some aspects are pants atm xx

daisychain01 · 12/06/2017 13:17

I could really use a bit of that chocolate cake you mentioned upthread willow Cake sluuuuurrrp

Willow2017 · 12/06/2017 14:02

Daisy

sorry not got any, we are usually packed off with tins full of cake and scones, pavlovas etc but we forgot them this time Sad Will remember next time Smile

Chasingsquirrels · 12/06/2017 17:40

Stomach settled - seemed more food poisoning than bug, but not sure what from. Hopefully that's it now though.

Drama ouch on the toothache, not nice - hope they manage to sort you out tomorrow without too much trouble.

cake hope the GP appointment is helpful and I agree on writing things down really DD for parents evening.

book - busy as usual!

Daisychain & Willow hi ☺ (sorry I can't remember what you typed and scrolling back up is a nightmare on my phone).

I went to bed a bit late so struggled getting up this morning, then work and popped to Aldi on the way home. Brought myself some flowers Smile.
Boys with their dad (actually just their step-mum as their dad is away) tonight and Mon-evening friend has invited me over for supper which is lovely, and I've had to turn down walking-friend whose just texted! My friends are so lovely. We've arranged to walk on Wednesday evening instead.
I'm feeling a bit better than I was last week - which wouldn't be hard, I was in a complete mess. Weird hoe it ebbs and flows.

Juan thinking of you.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 12/06/2017 20:49

I've written something and takes about 1 1/2 minutes to read, so should help order my thoughts.

Glad you're feeling better and have social stuff Squirrel
